Sometimes there's no real choice, die or kill. Other times you have a choice, but choose to kill, because the reasons at the time are compelling. Games ... give us little choices. Bad choices. Either way it's always murder.
But outside the games, you'll see those people again. They may forgive you. They may not. How we react after games. More than 'kill or not kill', that's a choice we can make fairly. Because games aren't fair. But life outside it is.
