No, um, more like this. That should help. . . Um, unless it's too heavy for you! It's not too heavy, is it?

[though, it sounds like the second one doesn't really sound like he has much confidence in the subject. shouldn't a teacher know what they're doing?]

From what Jace said, Bones got the impression that her Games used to focus on good adventures. Stuff that got people bonding. No negative feelings about them.

We're almost positive Trickster's fuel was the fear and the anger he got out of us from the kind of Games he made up. So if the Weaver crumbled in the same way...

...guess it sounds kinda ridiculous, but it's not impossible.

I mean, with types like King and Trickster and even that new horned Judge who get a real kick out of setting up people to make enemies of each other, and crap like that bastard and Mirror's penalties to drive the idea of throwing other teams under the bus to avoid them...

So you think she used to be an opposing force, but the other kind of games eventually won out.

...it makes sense. I suppose it's possible.

The Old Man and Old Woman were sort of complimentary opposing forces, from the sound of it.

If gods of conflict existed, then it does kinda follow that gods of peace would've probably coexisted to balance them out.

* ...shakes his head. *

With the Ophiuchus jobs, and then the games we've been having... not to mention the disease that's started going round. It's been hard grabbing people for private conversations.

Have you?

Badger said that he remembered the Old Man. He prayed to him, thanking him for plants.

He said that he was the earth.

Which would make the Old Woman... the sky? Or the sun?

The sky, maybe. It puts the idea of her wrath in a new perspective, doesn't it?

* half-mumbling, thinking out loud. *

'Light and fury'...a meteor impact? Multiples? So the 'fire and rage' could've definitely been a reference to volcanic activity-- but what about the 'arms' and 'embrace' of the Old Woman? That makes her sound like the underground itself-- unless it's talking about a change in the atmosphere itself that's having an effect on the earth... 'dying but could not die'...

Whatever she did, it had to be strong enough to cause the other judges to fear her. The notes we got in our journals said as much- that they fear her wrath- and if the only way the Old Man could keep them safe was to take them into himself...

I'm not sure the Old Man's keeping them safe per se... Aah, how did the lines go again...

Something something... "as the Old Woman reached out her arms to him. Those within would not die. They drew in others, fed and grew strong."

"Deep in the embrace of the Old Woman, the Old Man was dying but could not die. He has begun to feed as well."

You remember the journals also said this much about him; keep moving, he hungers.

"Those within" must be the judges, though. They're the ones drawing in others, aren't they? And whether it was intentional or not, it seems to be implying that only the ones that entered the mountain as the mural showed survived.

That's what I'm thinking. But the mountain as it was drawn in the mural...

...looked more like teeth than arms, if you know what I mean.

It's possible. There seemed to be some sort of stylized eyes in one of the images, which would lend weight to the opening being the Old Man's mouth.

But if he ate them, intending nothing more than to feed himself, you would think they'd fear more than just the Old Woman's wrath.

[Pauses a moment, thinking that over.]

Unless they found a way to offer him something else instead. Some other source of food.
