Who: Monoceros, Lepus, and anyone nearby
Where: Bunnycorn common area
When: Day 157, morning
What: Intropost!

[This fine morning, a young noodle VERY HURRIEDLY exits Mao's room. He ignores anyone in the Lepus dorms as he QUITE QUICKLY walks outside into the common area and sucks a few grateful breaths of fresh air.

Only then does he turn toward those around him]

Um... hello. Sorry, but can you tell me where this is?

...and maybe where I can get something to clean with...

Almaz had been here longer, and he'd gotten back memories with Mao in them.

Oh, I see!

...I wonder if there's anyone here who knows me...

If there is, they should find you quickly! There's only fourteen teams, six people each, so if no one shows up in your first week, then probably not!

That IS pretty small. Well, we'll see soon enough, then.

If they're oblivious enough not to notice you after that, they're probably worthless. You'll remember things on your own, even if no one recognizes you, anyway.

It's just a matter of time. I understand.

A matter of time and a judge running a decent game! Some of the games are hopeless, they tell all the teams to vote on who they want winning or losing! There's nothing we can do about losing those.

I take it we're not voted to win often in those cases?

Lepus isn't well liked, and most of them forget about Monoceros all together! It's annoying! They run those sorts of games much less often than they used to, though.

Ahhh. Well, there's no point trying to convince people who won't be convinced.

[nods]

That's what I think! There's no reason to try and change our behavior to please people who are unpleasable!

There's nothing wrong with trying to get by, but really, there's no point in anyone getting upset by it.

Mm-hmm! And if we do end up losing enough games, the judges start holding easy games, and in those ones, even if you don't win it's easy to convince them to give us other things. We have some games and a few other things from those.

That's convenient, at least.

So if we don't win for a while, don't get upset over it. You'll get your memories back eventually.

[or, in other words: Lepus almost never wins, so suck it up, kid]

That's the sort of situation where it must be hard to have a competitive streak, I imagine.

If it's a game you want to win, we'll try! If nothing else, sometimes they don't tell you the criteria until the end, Soldier judged a game based on how many candy bars we bought, even though we let Lacerta die. It's not always completely hopeless.

If it's hard to anticipate like that, there's no point trying -- just seeing what we can get out of it, it seems.

Mm! Things that make the dorms nicer are good to look out for as possible rewards, and when the judges give out food, it's usually not poisoned and it's always better than what we get around here. Unless you can bribe Watanuki, but he doesn't come around very often!

Yes, and he's on Lacerta, in green. They're known for being overly generous. Just bring over some spider silk, and don't try and eat him, and he'll cook for you. I've been thinking about getting him to make us candy, again.
