As a younger child, I would journey to the surrounding mountains of our home for days, often without my father's permission. When I returned, my father would ask the reason for my disappearance ... I would not tell him. When he insisted that I tell him, I still would not answer. When I continued to do so despite his forbiddings, he would then punish me. Yet still I continued to sneak out.
Only after a few years of this repeated behavior did he stop trying to punish me and altogether ignore the events. It was a few months after he stopped that I began to stay home.
