sabra tribute anthology organisation post
HELLO SABRA LOVERS
As mentioned before, I enjoyed my months in Sabra a great deal and am putting together a Sabra book. The idea is an all-character, all time period doujinshi-style anthology with all sorts of art, stories, whatever. And I'd love it if you would contribute as well! ["YOU" WHO?]
You anyone! If you played a Blank through to the end, if you didn't. If you were just a lurker. If you have a talented buddy you want to con into making something, or some awesome commissions you want to see in print.
Whoever wants to contribute is more than welcome.
[DEADLINE]
Submissions will be accepted until March 1st in your timezone. Books will be printed up at the end of March and shipped out in April.
[CONTENT]
Manga, art, fic, poetry, essay, travelogue...whatever. Any character, any pairing, Judge, flora/fauna, old!Sabra, new!Sabra, post-good end, reinterpretation of an RP thread, extra backstory, etc. etc. *Let's try to avoid porn though, so it can be sent to any country...
Sign up for as many pages as you want. You can send in more or less, but please let us know when you have a more solid idea of how many pages you can complete before March 1st. We know this is sudden and your plans may change as you start working.
All pages will be in black and white (grayscale) except for the cover. If you are interested in contributing to the cover, please let us know in a comment and we can discuss it later. It will depend on the number of people interested and the compatibility of art styles. *I know there was talk of commissioning some art, maybe for a cover, or we could potentially negotiate a foldout poster or a few color pages??? Let me know interest
If you have an idea and want to find someone to help you realize it, or if you're a grunt ready to draw or write and need some ideas, sign up at the online lobby idea clearinghouse below!
[LAYOUT & GUIDELINES]
The book will be A5 size. (A bit bigger than traditional manga, but smaller than most large doujinshi...a typical doujin anthology size). It will be read left to right (like English books). Please make sure all of your comics read left to right.
File resolution (black & white or grayscale) should be 600 dpi, and size is 154 x 216 mm, (the outer 3 mm on all sides may be cut off in printing, and text should try to stay a good centimeter from the edges to be properly read, so please take that into account. Also this will likely be a thick book, so give some space for the page folds. I've uploaded a template (.psd) with the cut-off (bleed) lines marked here: + A5 template + some digital screentones, already at the correct dpi for print
Graphical files should be submitted as a collapsed (merged layers) .psd file with the above dimensions. If you do not have Photoshop, let us know which program you will be using and we can find a way to convert your files. If you're doing text only and don't have Photoshop/Acrobat, just send me the text (preferably in a format I can open in Word) and I'll take care of it.
[...MONEY]
Here is the big question. Printing a big book is somewhere between pretty expensive and very expensive. As we get a better idea of the total number of pages we are looking at, I'll put up a post for pre-orders to help cover some of the cost of printing. That said, the goal is to just have folks pay for shipping to their respective homes. I'm hoping to get a batch out from Japan and another batch from the US...will depend on how much space I have in my luggage when moving back :|b [SIGN UP]
If you are interested, copy and paste this little form and paste it in a comment. (You can change details later, of course!)
Email address/plurk (if you have one) Pen name [name you'd like to submit under]/character name (if you were a player) Page count (what you think you'll be doing or you'd like to shoot for) Theme--characters/team/pairing/etc (if you know, else let me know when you're decided)
There is no deadline for signing up, but please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested so I can start planning pagecounts and printing costs. Again, you can always change the number of pages you want to submit as we go. It's pretty flexible!
[OKAY]
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns--I'm cribbing most of this post from the Gundam OO antho I helped some buddies make a few years back, also it's coming on 3 in the morning, so apologies in advance for anything I've missed. And thanks a lot just for reading this far. I am looking forward to getting moving with this! -- Erin (Maya/Folken/whatever) :Db
