Personality: Delaney has never had trouble making herself heard. She's loud when she needs to be, not afraid to do what needs to be done. She may have decided not to pursue higher education and get a normal job, but Delaney has plans. She's extremely ambitious. Of course, that doesn't mean she can't have fun - she has plans, but in between, she's a social butterfly, easily making friends and drawing attention to herself just by the force of her personality. Since high school was a challenge in terms of socializing, she's making up for it now. She has no problem being friendly to anyone she runs across, especially whoever she has to work with, but if someone really bothers her, she's more likely to just ignore that person rather than have a big confrontation. Boys, though? She's a total flirt, and ever since moving to New York she's rarely been single for very long. She likes being in a relationship, and though she doesn't fall quickly or easily, she's fallen hard in the past. Not that she has an easy time admitting something like that. She likes to party, but it's really only when she doesn't have to be on any sets in the morning. After all, it wouldn't really do to be hungover and sick while shooting. Not that it hasn't happened once or twice, but it's still better to avoid it, and she's learned her limits. It's hard to have fun when you feel like dying.
Brief History: Delaney was born on April 15 in Wilmette, IL, outside Chicago, to an upper middle class family. As a child, she and her brother wanted for nothing, except perhaps more attention. They went to the best schools and had many of the new toys or gadgets. They would often entertain themselves by playing games - Laney's favorite was always 'pretend,' and she would always try to take control and dictate what they were pretending, even if she gave in because Bryan was older and her hero. In their house, education was important - there was no doubt that they were going to college and getting high-powered jobs. They were both pushed to be ambitious and to always strive to be their best - better than their best, even. Unfortunately, Delaney only had mediocre grades, and she tended to give all her attention to drama club and to the track team. Her parents, then, got all the best tutors, and her social life was cut down in favor of being better in every area. She was an outgoing, social person, but her school was competitive and everyone was trying to outshine everyone else.
By the time her senior year rolled around, Delaney had already decided for sure that she wasn't going to college, a decision she had been wrestling with since freshman year. She applied to some just to please her parents, but when she told them her plans - she was going to be an actor - they were shocked and, for a while, discouraging. That wasn't part of their plans, after all. But she had already made up her mind, and they came to accept it within a few months. In the meantime, she had started going to castings - she moved to New York when she turned eighteen and found an apartment in Brooklyn, largely funded in the beginning by her parents' money. But after that, she had a lot of luck - she found a good agent and got a few roles in plays off-Broadway and some smaller parts in a couple of movies. But she really struck big when she was cast in Rumour Mills, and while the sudden tabloid attention was strange and somewhat uncomfortable, she got used to it quickly enough.
