Money, success, fame, glamour... [Narrative or open!] [14 Aug 2011|07:40pm]
The charity ball was, as expected, a great success. Members of not only the Boston and Massachusetts press were in attendance, but national news correspondents as well. Political figures came, along with a few celebrities and celebutants; the Seethe members were, of course, there, as well as a number of regular attendees who had been lucky enough to purchase tickets before they had sold out. Seethe leaders from a few surrounding cities were there to rub shoulders, along with vampiric ambassadors such as Jessalyn Dahl. The Warwick and everyone inside was decked to the nines, the black-tie event strictly adhered to. There was music and dancing, a live band playing mostly a selection of music dated back to the first half of the 1900s, and of course a performance by Alistair himself.

Human guests -- including both celebrities and a selection of Boston's most high-end and expensive blood dolls -- made blood donations as well, the crooks of their arms wrapped fashionably in red to show that they'd given blood to the cause. There were testimonials playing on various flatscreens around the room, young vampires telling stories of attacks, abandonment by their sires and then by their families, and the difficulties of having to learn to survive on your own. And, of course, shots of vampires such as the Duke himself speaking about the benefits that the shelter would bring to vampires that might otherwise be targeted by hate groups.

Security was on high-alert that night, supplied not only by the Seethe's personal security task force but also outsourced to a trusted human firm. Men in suits with discreet earpieces were tastefully placed around the ballroom and throughout the first floor of the hotel, making sure that everyone was both safe and accounted for. Outside of the hotel, a small group of vampires had been placed to patrol, just in case protestors or Anarchs got the wrong idea. Thankfully, the streets seemed otherwise quiet that night.

The next day newspapers nation-wide would be running stories about the shelter, and announcing tentative plans for more in other cities, if this experiment got off the ground and ran well without any of the numerous complications that were not only possible, but likely as well.
