Lights Out, Guard Down
Who: Reggie and Jason
Setting: Workshop, Block B, 5-ish

Reggie finally managed to get to the workshop sometime around the afternoon, and was more than ready to get some work done on the car that he'd been given. He'd gotten all of the plant life out of from under the hood, and now was slowly and methodically working his way through the parts of the engine, working to figure out just what needed to be done to each part. It was likely that he was basically going to have to take this car apart and put it back together to put it into some sort of working condition again.

He didn't mind that, though. Actually, he preferred it. He had asked for a clunker because he knew that he would have to spend a lot of time with it. He had missed working on cars during his prison sentence, because, even though there was a work program that dealt with them, with his record, he wouldn't be let anywhere near them. This place was supposed to be about rehabilitation and, while he still had a few misgivings, he was still going to work like he would be getting out of here soonish. That meant prepping himself for some sort of real career, he hoped.

Jason really hadn't had anything specific in mind when he had headed over to the B block. Mostly, he had been bored and looking for something to do. So exploring had seemed like the most obvious choice. Really, other than the gardens there, he hadn't looked around too much. And if he was thinking that maybe he'd find this workshop and car that Reggie had mentioned, well... That was just a bonus. He figured he had explored most of Block A, and hadn't found them, so chances were pretty good it'd be over here somewhere.

He was pretty much just wandering, checking everything out - if nothing else, it was good for passing the time - when he finally did find the workshop. Even better, Reggie was in there, elbows deep in the car. Jason approached the other man, grinning when he didn't immediately react to his presence. He wasn't really trying to be quiet, so Reggie had to be focusing pretty intently on something in there. Not wanting to interrupt, he stayed quiet, leaning back against one of the workbenches. It would be interesting to see how long it took for Reggie to notice him. After all, it certainly wasn't a hardship to watch Reggie while he was in his zone, all focused on the car like that.

It actually didn't take Reggie too long to realize that he was no longer alone in the room. Not that he minded any sort of company or anything. He just hoped that it was someone with a friendly face.

He set the tools that he was using aside, grabbing a towel to wipe the oil and dirt off his hands before he turned around, a wide grin spreading across his face when he saw who it was. "Nice to see you here," he said, tossing the rag onto a work table. "What brings you around?" He shut the hood of the car for now, leaning back against it.

Jason smiled back at Reggie in response to his grin. "Not much," he answered. "Was bored mostly. Plus, I thought I'd try to find this workshop that you were talking about." After a second though, his curiosity got the better of him. "What were you working on?" He knew it was probably only about a fifty percent chance he'd actually understand what Reggie was talking about, but he couldn't help but ask.

"Isn't this place great?" Reggie gushed, looking around the workshop for a moment. They really had supplied him with everything here. "And just slowly going through the different parts of the engine and working with what I've got. I asked them to give me a clunker, and they took me up on that."

He understood that part. It wasn't quite as technical an answer as he was expecting. But really, what struck Jason more was the genuine enthusiasm Reggie had as he talked about the place. It was hard to keep from smiling in the face of that enthusiasm. "It's pretty cool," he agreed. "And yeah. I'd say they definitely took you up on giving you a clunker. I'd say you have a lot of work ahead of you."

Reggie was actually taking care to not get too technical. He hated when people talked above his head just to show off their knowledge, so he'd never do it himself. "Well, there were weeds growing in the engine, so I'd say that it's already had a huge improvement," he said with a smirk.

Jason couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that. "Wait, you mean that's actually possible? I kind of thought that was just something that happened in redneck movies." He took another look at the car Reggie was leaning against. "Okay. In that case, yeah, it's already looking a lot better."

Reggie laughed. "Weeds are weeds because they can grow just about anywhere," he explained. "If a little bit of dirt gets into something left out in the elements, it's not hard at all for weeds to start sprouting everywhere, and they found me a real POS." Which was what he had asked for.

Jason supposed he had a point there. He hadn't really been looking at it that way. Though he had to agree with Reggie's assessment of the car. "Well, I guess that will just make it all that much more impressive when you actually get this thing going again, huh?"

Reggie grinned. "Yeah, let's hope so, huh?" he asked playfully. Before he could say anything else, though, there was a booming sound, and then all the lights cut out in the workshop. "What the hell?" Reggie asked, looking up toward the ceiling. Was this some experiment on them or something?

It was pure reflex that had Jason unconsciously echoing Reggie the second the lights shut off. "The hell?" He blinked against the sudden darkness, trying to force his eyes to adjust. It didn't work very well; there simply wasn't enough ambient light. It was instinct that had him reaching out and carefully finding the edge of the workbench closest to him, wanting to make sure he kept a good sense of his bearings. He waited a few seconds, half expecting the lights to come right back on, given back up generators and all. When that didn't happen, he asked, "I don't suppose you have a flashlight or anything, do you?"

"Fuck me," Reggie muttered under his breath as he tried to get his own eyes to adjust to the darkness. They really couldn't see shit in here without the lights on. "Not that I know of, and I doubt that looking around is going to find me anything more than a few knots on my head." He heard Jason moving around in the darkness. He could sense he was close; was he at the workbench? "Where are you?" he asked.

"Good point. And given the sort of things in this room? Probably not the best idea to go blindly fumbling around," Jason agreed. Reggie would probably have a better chance than him, given the fact that he knew this place better, but it still probably was not advisable. When Reggie asked where he was, he closed his eyes, trying to visualize things as they had been with the lights on. "I'm by the workbench. In front of you and to your... right." He wasn't very good at judging distances so he couldn't give him that. If the lights didn't come back on soon, they would have to try to find something though.

Reggie had gotten to know this place pretty well. While he was pretty sure that there was a flashlight in here somewhere, he had absolutely no clue as to where it was. Trying to find it right now was just going to be more trouble than it was worth. "OK, gonna try to find my way to you, if you don't mind," Reggie said, sticking his arms out and slowly feeling his way toward the workbench. They should probably stay right beside each other right now, right? Getting separated was certainly a bad idea.

"Yeah, okay. I'm just going to stay here then," Jason answered. "So, are you wondering why the backup generators haven't kicked in yet? Because a place like this? Inmates like us? They've got to have them for security and all." He didn't really care; it wasn't like there was anything they could do about it. But he figured talking would make it easier for Reggie to find him, and that was what happened to be on his mind.

"You'd think this place would have something to kick in," Reggie agreed. When his hand happened to brush against Jason's side, he relaxed, glad that he had found him. "Then again, I'm not terribly sure how we'd escape, anyway. We were blindfolded until we were dropped off. We don't even know how to get out of the building." Plus, the elevators wouldn't work. They really were likely stuck in this place.

Even though Jason had been expecting Reggie to find him, and had known he was close given the proximity of his voice, he still started slightly when he felt Reggie's hand brush against him. Despite that, he relaxed, slightly calmer now that he knew where he was. It helped with that mental picture he had in his head of the room. "Good point. But I wasn't really thinking just in terms of us escaping. I mean, they've made it pretty clear that they're watching us almost all the time. You'd think they'd have back ups for keeping tabs on us, at least."

Reggie felt him jolt a tad, but was glad that he managed to relax again. He hadn't meant to startle him, after all. He chuckled when Jason pointed out that there had to be some sort of back up to how they were being watched. "Well, most of the ways that we're being watched have to be electronic, right? All of that would have went down with the lights." And, while he didn't want to voice that out loud, if there was an inside person of some sort, they weren't in the room with them, now, were they?

It had been mostly paranoia that had made him jump. He was generally very aware of his surroundings and not being able to see Reggie approach had thrown him, despite everything. Now that he knew where Reggie was, Jason found it easy to relax. He trusted Reggie enough that he wasn't too worried. "And don't you just know that if the power doesn't come back soon, people are going to be taking advantage of that." That was something for which he didn't want to be present. But still, there was no telling how long the power would be out. And if it was going to be long, they were going to get real tired of standing there in the dark. But it was already dark outside, so opening a door wouldn't help, and given the fact that it had started raining fairly heavily when he had gotten to the workshop, that was one upside to staying put. There had to be some flashlights or candles or something around, but... There was just no telling where. And at this point in time, he wasn't sure which option was the best one.

"So, are we feeling adventurous enough to wander around in hopes of finding a flashlight or something, or are we going to stay here?

"Oh yeah, I'm sure a few people are going to be holy terrors while the power is out. I just hope they stay away from my room," he joked. Except he really did hope that they stayed away from him room. That would be nice. "Well, it's a workshop, so there's got to be a flashlight around here somewhere," Reggie said. He was kicking himself for not taking a full inventory of all the tools of this place. When the lights did come back on, he was going to do just that. "Let me feel my way to the toolbox and see if I can hunt us one down."

With that, he started to feel along the wall, heading in the direction that he thought the big toolbox might be in. After only one toe stubbing and swearing incident, he managed to find it, opening it up and starting to feel around. "It's got to be one in here somewhere."

"Did you lock it? I mean, the locks aren't electrical, so if you did, you shouldn't have to worry about most people." Granted, they were surrounded by convicts, so there was no telling how many of them knew how to pick locks. But well, it would deter some of them at least. Jason listened carefully as Reggie wandered away again, trying to keep track of him as best as he could. He didn't know this place as well as the other man, so trying to follow him probably wasn't the best idea. When Reggie reached the toolbox - or, at least, he assumed he had, since that was what he had said he was doing - and he could hear the sounds of him rummaging through it, he added, "Just don't hurt yourself. Because if you cut your hand open on a saw or something, you're going to be screwed."

Reggie shook his head, and then remembered that Jason couldn't see him in the dark. "Nah, it's not locked. I figure anyone who would really want in it would just pick the lock, anyway." Reggie could even pick locks in a pinch. He preferred car locks, but he could do houses and such, too. "Promise not to cut my hand or anything," he said with a bit of a grin. He was trying to be careful as he could be. He didn't want to bleed half to death in the dark. After a few minutes of rummaging, he called out again. "I can’t find one. I think we’re on our own, mate,” he said with a sigh. It would have been much nicer if he had found one, but it seemed like there wasn’t one to be found among his tools. “Let me make my way back to you.” He had done it once, so he figured he could do it again.

"Yeah, please don't. I might have been a first responder, but even I don't think I could help you if I can't see you. And I'd really rather you not be the next one to go here."

"Well, it could be worse. And I can't say I'm going to complain about the company." Actually, he was pretty sure Reggie was just about the person he would most prefer to get stuck in this situation with. Well, maybe not in pure terms of survival - something told him Jae was probably one of the best for that, but... He liked Reggie. And, more importantly, he trusted him enough that he wasn't worried about what he'd do now without the certainty of surveillance from the people running the place.

"No, you can't really help what you can't see," Reggie responded, relaxing as he made his way back over slowly. "I have to say that I like the company quite a bit," he retorted with a smirk. "Since we don’t have any light, we should probably keep to the workshop. Don't want to get ourselves lost in the dark or anything like that." And maybe he just wanted to spend the night with Jason.

"Keeping to the workshop is fine. Since the power will probably be back before too long, we might as well stay here where it's dry. Because it's pouring out there." Jason really didn't think it would turn into an issue. Hell, chances were, the power would probably be back in a minute. That was how it always seemed to work outside anyway. He doubted the whole thing would last long enough to force them to venture out to try and scrounge up food or anything. And well, he had been planning on hanging out with Reggie. There was no reason for a little power outage to change that.

Still, he didn't really want to just stand around, so after some searching, he found a spot on one of the workbenches that wasn't too cluttered and pushed himself up so that he was sitting on top of it. "So how have you been?" he asked. It had been a few days since he had seen him last, and that had been during that whole thing with the stocks. He figured given all that had happened since then, it was a reasonable question to ask.

Reggie knew that he had no interest wandering outside only to get to an elevator and it not be functional because of the lack of electricity. That just sounded like a giant pain in the ass, thank you! He was perfectly happy with hanging around the workshop with his favorite person in the place. "I'm sure the power will be back on in ten minutes or so," he teased, unknowingly voicing Jason's thoughts. That was how it usually worked. You found something you needed and turns out you no longer need it. They really should request that there be flashlights in every room or something, in case this happens again.

"I've been doing alright. Apologized to Jae on that day when they set us up to hang with random people around the place," he explained. "Figured it was about time for that." That and he admitted to her that, among other issues, he sometimes forgot what he said right after he said it. Made arguments with him absolute hell. "How've you been doing?" He knew what he would ask for soon. He'd ask for a mini fridge in here to keep beer or even soda in. Either of those would be nice right now.

"What are you talking about? Of course the power's going to come right back on. That's just how these things work," Jason said with a quiet laugh. It was amusing to hear that Reggie had been thinking the same thing.

Jason was glad to hear that Reggie and Jae had worked things out. He liked Jae, and just as importantly, was pretty sure she was one of the people here whom staying on their good side was probably the best idea. And yeah, because of that, he would really rather not see Reggie end up on her bad side either. Actually, he didn't much like the idea of Reggie on anyone's bad side here. In response to Reggie's question, he shrugged. "Not a whole lot. Doing my best to stay out of trouble and avoid doing anything that will make the people in charge pay too much attention to me. Helped break up a fight a couple of days ago, but other than that, a whole lot of nothing." Talking to people mostly, and just doing little things to help pass the time and to try and stave off boredom.

Reggie just laughed when Jason said that he was basically thinking the same thing. He had to admit, there were much worse ways to spend his night than alone with Jason.

Now that they weren't fighting, Reggie found that he liked Jae as well. He liked strong, ballsy women. One of the reasons that he enjoyed hanging around Kasper as well, even if she was pretty off keel. Then again, he admitted that he liked a little crazy as well. "Staying out of trouble seems to be the goal for most people here." Hell, if the option was to end up in the stocks, then Reggie would even do his best to stay out of trouble as well. "You broke up a fight? Who was it?" Now that was actually kind of interesting. People usually tried to get along here, so he wondered who had actually come to blows.

"Wouldn't that be fun?" Jason asked sarcastically, grinning. "We could spend the night in the backseat of the car like high schoolers." It wasn't so much the spending the night together that Jason had a problem with, so much as the fact that, backseats in general were not very comfortable to spend the night in, especially not for two grown men. And given the condition of this particular car, he suspected that it would be worse than most.

"Well, I guess it almost wasn't so much a fight as a beating. The one girl really didn't have much of a chance. Uh, Wren. I hadn't met her before, but the guys in charge had her as the person I had to talk to the other day, so that's how I know her name. The other girl... I don't know her name. Hadn't seen her before, or since. But she was just wailing on Wren. A couple of other guys and I pulled them apart. The whole story behind it seems... weird, but then again, the girl that attacked seemed like she was in the middle of some sort of psychotic episode or something. So really, there is no telling what was going on in her head during the whole thing. The important part is that, other than Wren, no one got hurt, and we were able to stop the whole thing before she got too badly injured." It was a little bit of a long explanation of things, but it certainly wasn't the whole story. He figured if Reggie wanted more details, he'd ask for them. Otherwise, he wasn't going to drag the story out any longer.

"Well, it might be at least some fun," Reggie teased with a grin. Reggie had spent the night in the back of a number of cars. Some of them was for fun, and some of them was because he had nowhere to crash for the night. He didn't mind them, but the car in question needed to be reupholstered, so it wasn't a good idea for them to be sleeping back there, as fun as that might sound.

"Sounds like you had yourself a bit of fun there," Reggie said sarcastically. He was pretty sure who the other person might be, but he wouldn't say unless asked. Kasper obviously had some issues, and he hoped that she could get some help dealing with them here. It seemed like she might be a bit of a powder keg about to explode.

"You have an odd definition of fun," Jason teased with a grin, even though he knew that Reggie couldn't see him. He figured Reggie should probably be able to tell from the tone of his voice that he wasn't being serious. He might not have engaged in the fun side of being stuck in a back seat as often as Reggie, but he had done it a couple of times. Mostly back when he was still a teenager, but still...

Had he not already been grinning, Reggie's sarcastic tone would have made him then. "Loads of fun," Jason agreed. "But, like I said, it wasn't too bad. And it was kind of reassuring to see that there are others here that are going to step in if something like that happens again." He knew there were probably others that would have done the same had they been around - like, he imagined, Reggie - but there were also some that wouldn't. There were probably even some that would have joined in to make things worse. So he personally liked knowing which of those categories everyone belonged in.

"Yeah well, I have a lot of odd ideas," Reggie joked back. He could hear the grin in Jason's voice, so he wasn't too worried about anything like that. Reggie did have a lot of odd ideas at times, but he was always happy to share them.

He couldn't help but appreciate Jason's idea at least he now knew that others would jump in when things got tough. "Certainly a good thing to know," he agreed. Sure, some of the people here were...pretty chaotic, and Reggie himself was far from perfect, but it was good to realize that he wasn't completely surrounded by psychopaths, either.

"So, what were your plans tonight before we got locked in together?" Reggie asked with a bit of a laugh.

"I have no doubt about that," Jason laughed. "But that's not always a bad thing. I'm sure some of them are a whole lot of fun."

Jason had to agree with that assessment. "I think so." He shrugged before he remembered that Reggie couldn't see him. "Given the fact that the people in charge have been fairly hands-off except for the whole stocks thing, I prefer knowing there are some people here that will be willing to help out when things go bad."

Laughing softly, Jason admitted, "I didn't really have plans. I sort of had the idea to come find you, but other than that... Nothing really."

"Oh yeah, most of my ideas are great," he joked. "It's the execution that sometimes gets fucked up." Actually, he had a rather 'odd' idea that he was feeling up to acting on right now.

"Fairly hands off," Reggie said with a slight snort. "I told them in that 'private entry' thing they made us do that actually knowing some ground rules would be a great help," he said to Reggie. He didn't want to dwell on what pissed him off, though. He was actually in a good mood tonight.

"Good plan you had there," he said with a smile. "Actually, I'm having one of my sort of odd plans right about now. Mind if I act on it?"

Jason laughed at Reggie's assessment of his ideas. "That seems to be a common problem here in prison. It's either that, or stupidity." Poor execution did seem to be a common theme in the stories of how people ended up here. Well, maybe not here, in this particular place, but incarcerated in general.

While that hadn't been all he had said in his entry for the people in charge, that had been part of it. "I agree with you there. I think it would cut down on some problems, at least."

Despite the fact that he generally trusted Reggie, Jason had to admit, to himself at least, that Reggie's question made him a little wary. Those sorts of questions generally led to trouble, one way or another. And given some of his stories, Reggie certainly seemed inclined towards trouble. But not, however, violence or anything, which was why he slowly said, "As long as it isn't anything that's going to result in bodily harm, go ahead, I suppose. Though I have to ask, what makes you think you need my permission?" That was what he didn't get.

"Yeah, stupid comes in sometimes, too," Reggie said with a laugh. He'd certainly done his fair share of stupid things before. Honestly, stupid was what had gotten him in jail. He used to be so good about not getting behind the wheel while drunk. One slip up destroyed so much, though.

It hadn't been all that Reggie had written about himself, but it was an important bit to him. How could they follow rules if they didn't know what they were? Kind of hard to do. "It would definitely help."

Reggie couldn't help but laugh a bit when he heard a bit of Jason's worry. "Don't worry. I much prefer the simple pleasures of life rather than pain," he told Jason. "I asked because it requires me to touch you, and I didn't want to scare the hell out of you in the dark and get slugged," he pointed out. Well, he might get punched anyway, if he was reading signals wrong, but he figured it would be worth it to find out.

Ah. Well that made sense. Even if he wasn't as jumpy as some of the people here, given where they were, warning about something like that was probably a good idea, just in case. And given the darkness? Yeah, chances were even he would have lashed out at having someone unexpectedly touch him. Jason did not like not being aware of his surroundings. "Probably a good idea. I promise not to sucker punch you in the dark."

Although, it did make him wonder about where Reggie was going with this. He rejected every idea that came to him, deeming them as unlikely. Well, he supposed he would find out, wouldn't he? He was more than vaguely curious now, though he wouldn't admit it.

Reggie wasn't really aware of anyone who liked not being aware of their surroundings. Sure, there were people that liked being blindfolded during sex, but even that was for a short time and a specified event. This was still enough to throw anyone off. "Yeah, and I know that you got a hook on you, so I'd greatly appreciate you not slugging me," Reggie joked. (Well, sort of joked, as he'd really rather not be hit.)

It was dark, and the normally smooth Reggie ended up fumbling just a bit when he reached out for Jason, but he did manage to get the man's face and pull him closer, only missing his mouth by a touch at first when he leaned in for a brief kiss. Yeah, he still half expected to get hit or at least pushed away, but he had to know, alright?

For all that Reggie was laughing, Jason knew that he was also being serious. Which really didn't help his curiousity about what exactly his "odd plan" was.

Out of things he had been expecting, Reggie kissing him was not one of them. Or rather, he had briefly entertained that thought, but had ultimately dismissed that idea as completely unlikely. Apparently not, however. And okay, yeah, now he really understood why Reggie had asked for his permission first.

Had it been most anyone else here - or okay, probably anyone else here period - then yeah, Jason probably would have pulled away. But he kind of liked Reggie - or maybe a little more than kind of - so pulling away wasn't something that occured to him. Instead, he turned slightly, making up for the tiny bit that Reggie had been off. And really, given how dark it was, he certainly wasn't going to hold that against him.

When they broke apart from the brief kiss, Jason couldn't help but say, "Well, I didn't see that coming." He hadn't intended on the pun but... Well, it had been over three years. He figured he was allowed to be a little flustered.

They were both doing good that Reggie didn't accidentally kiss his nose or anything like that. He was relieved that he didn't cock it up in any way like that.

He was intensely relieved that Jason didn't hit him or push him away. The kiss was a lot more tentative than he would usually be, simply because, if he had read signals wrong, he would have likely of screwed up the best friendship he had in here. When Jason didn't jerk away and even turned slightly so that he corrected for where he had missed, Reggie almost let out a sigh of relief.

He let out a relieved laugh when Jason spoke after he pulled away. "Yeah well, dark gives courage," he admitted. "I've been wanting to do that for a while, though."

Jason smiled to himself at Reggie's laugh and his evident relief. "Yeah. I know what you mean," he said with a slight laugh of his own. But it was the second part of what Reggie said that he was focusing on the most. "Really? A while? How long is a while?" They had met each other their first day here, but it really hadn't been that long ago. He had to admit, he was curious, mostly because he was curious as to what he had done in particular that had made Reggie want to. Sure, he had flirted, but... Reggie had admitted to being a bit of a flirt, so he doubted that had been it.

Reggie was a flirt, a massive one, even, but that didn't mean that he couldn't actually like someone, too. "A couple of days," he admitted to Jason. They hadn't been here all that long or anything, but he admittedly felt like he had kind of connected with Jason as soon as they started to get to know one another. He wasn't quite sure how to put any of that into actual words, though. He wasn't the greatest at expressing any real emotions that weren't jokes or flirting, though.

It wasn't as specific as he was looking for, but he would take it. Of course, he had no real idea what he was going to do about this but... Well, Jason wasn't exactly opposed to it. Far from it, in fact. It was just that little voice inside his head telling him that getting into... well, anything at a place like this could be trouble. So yeah, he was interested - definitely - but that didn't mean he wasn't going to be cautious.

"I have to admit," he said, even though he hadn't originally intended to, "you kissing me was one of the possibilities that went through my mind when you said you had an odd plan that involved touching me, but I didn't actually think that was going to happen."

He probably wouldn't admit to this, but Reggie had honestly never really had a serious relationship before, so he didn't really know how to express himself properly in one. Sad but true there. It was good that Jason was interested, or he'd been a little crushed. He felt kind of stupid and teenager-ish about it, but being in the dark had given him that little bit of extra courage to do it.

Reggie laughed. "Really?" he asked. He couldn't help but be a bit pleased about that. "Well, now you know what I had in mind." And he was so glad that he had done it.

That was true. And Jason had to admit, so far, he liked where Reggie's plan had gone a whole lot more than some of the other possibilities. Although, now he had to wonder... "So, was that your whole plan? Or is there a phase two rattling around in your head as well?"

Reggie laughed again, running his fingers through his hair nervously. "Hadn't really thought that far ahead," he admitted. "Although I'm very open to ideas if you've got some." He hoped that Jason had some ideas.

"Oh I have ideas. Several, in fact. Although most of them, I'm not so sure about acting on at the moment. The power being out certainly being a factor." It wan't the only factor, but he wasn't going to say that. He really didn't want Reggie to think it had anything to do with him, because it didn't.

But he figured that Reggie had already done the hard part and put himself out there. He didn't really want to just leave him hanging, so he reached out and - okay, he had even more respect for Reggie now, because trying to find someone in the dark with the intent to kiss them was just awkward - kissed Reggie. Of course, Reggie might have done the hard part, but that didn't stop his nerves from making him the slightest bit hesitant about it.

Reggie grinned when Jason said that he had ideas. "Do you now?" he asked playfully. "And just what sort of ideas are you having?" He was just dying of curiosity to hear what Jason might have up his sleeve.

He grinned when he felt Jason reach out for him, trying to help him navigate. It was amazingly hard to figure this nonsense out in the dark. Gave him tremendous respect for blind people, honestly. Still, he managed to get both of their lips lined up for another kiss with muddling it all up.

Really, he was thirty years old, Jason was pretty sure he should not be feeling this awkward about something as simple as kissing. He was going to blame the darkness and be done with it. But it was still worth it, so he supposed he couldn't complain too much.

It was only after that he broke the kiss that he answered Reggie. "What makes you think I'm going to tell you right now?" Jason asked, smiling to himself. He really should have expected for Reggie to question his response and want details, but... He wasn't so sure he wanted to share them just yet. Mostly because he was fairly sure that it wouldn't be appropriate.

Kissing really shouldn't be this laughably awkward, but Reggie had to agree that it was more than worth it. It had to be the darkness, and totally not his nerves that he still half expected to be pushed away for doing something wrong or just unwanted.

Most of Reggie's own ideas weren't what one would consider 'appropriate,' but that wouldn't stop him from sharing. Reggie was hardly shy, though. "Terrible thing for you to do, make me all curious and not tell me," he teased with a laugh, leaning in for another kiss. Now that he was sure that it was OK, it was kind of hard to stop himself.

Had he not been enjoying himself quite so much, Jason might have commented on the fact that the fact that Reggie kept kissing him made answering Reggie difficult. But as it was, complaining was just about the last thing on his mind. This time, instead of keeping the kiss short, he let it linger, only pulling away because of the need for air. Rather than moving back away though, he stayed close. If asked, he would totally justify it by saying that it made things easier, what with the dark and all. In all actuality? Even though the whole thing was terribly PG, he was sort of enjoying the contact with Reggie.

"Maybe that was the point,"Jason said, smiling even though he knew Reggie couldn't see him. "Or maybe I just lied. Maybe I didn't have any ideas." It wasn't either, not really. But he sort of figured the truth would lead to more questions from Reggie. Hell, he would be curious and ask if their positions were reversed and Reggie had mentioned ideas of an inappropriate nature. "Either way, you'll never know."

Jason wasn't the only one enjoying the contact. Reggie's time with Kasper had been essentially scratching an itch, but this was something very different and not quite like anything he'd ever had the pleasure of experiencing, though. He was finding that he really liked it, even if he thought it would be much better to do this in a comfortable bed rather in the darkness of the workshop floor.

Reggie laughed when Jason claimed that he had lied. "For some reason, I kind of doubt that," he teased. Still, he was fine with letting the matter drop for now. Well, he would be for another kiss in trade, anyway. "You're trying to kill me here with curiosity, ain't you?"

It was stupid, and it probably had a lot to do with recent events making his emotions run a little higher, but Jason couldn't help but break out into an amused laugh. "I'm sorry, but the word ain't just doesn't sound right in a British accent instead of a southern one." At the end of that, he let his voice slip into a mocking imitation of the southern accent he'd heard quite frequently while in prison in Florida. He laughed again, dropping the fake accent.

"And to answer your question? No, for some reason I think killing you would be counter productive for all my ideas. I just kind of like the idea of making you sit and wonder."

Reggie just cracked up when he heard Jason's southern accent. Reggie had honestly picked up the word in his years in the States. He'd never heard it at home, obviously. "I'll try to keep my grammar correct around you then," he teased.

"No, I suppose killing me wouldn't really do you much good would it?" Reggie asked with a grin that could be heard in his voice. "Doesn't mean that you obviously don't enjoy making me squirm a bit in anticipation now, don't you?"

"I'm American. I don't need correct grammar. But being in a Southern prison means I've just heard enough ain'ts and fixin' tos for the rest of my life." I'm fixin' to rearrange your face was one he had heard fairly regularly, though only a couple of times in the beginning of his sentence was it ever directed towards him. After a while, most people had learned to leave him alone.

He supposed he deserved that one though. After all, turnabout was fair play. Reggie was definitely teasing him, knowing what sort of mental image that last bit would evoke. He couldn't say the image wasn't a pleasant one. Just... one that was going to have to wait, and only partially because he actually wanted to be able to see. "You... are trouble. And I probably shouldn't be encouraging you." Despite that, he couldn't help but kiss him again.

Reggie just laughed when Jason explained his grievance with the word ain't. "I think I heard enough of 'yous guys' to last me all of my life, too," he admitted. At least he wasn't the only one who got stuck in a prison outside of his homeland. Then again, he'd been in New York longer than he'd lived in England. He was glad of that, though.

"Oh yeah, I'm an admittedly terrible influence and trouble to those I come across," he admitted to Jason, laughing. He didn't mind being trouble if it got him more kisses, which it seemed to be doing.

"Since we're already in prison, I'm not too worried about you being a bad influence. And as far as trouble goes... I'm think I can handle that. Or well, you, as the case may be." Jason was not too worried. Maybe that the smartest thing, but... It was hard trying to be on guard around people when he tended towards being naturally friendly, and Reggie... Well, the fact that he had allowed this much said just how much he trusted him.
