The helicopter and wet thud pulled Antoine out of an already fitful sleep. The bright light flashing momentarily at the window didn't help, either. He cursed, ran a hand over his face and climbed out of bed, pulling on a dressing robe over his pajamas. He slipped on his slippers and exited into the grey light of the courtyard. "What in the holy hell-" he stopped when he saw the lady in the courtyard, crouching over what could only be a body. He rubbed his eyes, trying to decide if he was still asleep. No, he wasn't.
He walked briskly but calmly over to the two ladies, crouching beside the living one. "She's dead?"
