Today Is Awesome!
Characters: Autumn and Mazie
Setting: Mid Morning, The Courtyard
Autumn had dinked around on the computer for a while, then gotten herself freshened up. Which was wonderful! She had clothes that weren't jumpsuits, and she had colors to choose from! Even if it was only seven outfits total, she was more than pleased with having clothes she could pick out herself.
In a bouncy mood, she'd opted to go exploring, and had immediately decided the courtyard laid out beneath her room was fabulous looking. So, she went there immediately, finding a tree to sit down beneath. She was smiling to herself, a content sort of mood overtaking her as she relaxed. Today was going to be a great day, she was sure of it.
Mazie would explore later. After a few minutes of roaming her hallway, Mazie found a staircase and started down it, on a mission to find the kitchen. She needed to stock her room up because she didn't plan on leaving it again once she got there. There was a beautiful, personal computer there waiting for her to come back and get to work. And she wasn't about to disappoint it.
So she mulled around until she found the kitchen, grabbed armfuls of non-perishable foods, and turned to head back a different way, through the courtyard. It might be the quickest way to get to where she wanted to go, but Mazie wasn't sure yet.
As she walked, she caught sight of a girl under the tree and slowed her pace just a little. Maybe some people would rather be outside, but Mazie didn't really get it. Didn't she know there were computers upstairs? Did her room not have a computer? "...Hey, you know there're computers here, right?" She called over a bag of pretzels.
Autumn looked over and smiled brightly. "I do!" she said. "And I've been saying hello to people for a while, and all that, but it's a beautiful day. I wanted to be outside where I'm not worried about anyone starting something, and no one's telling me to stay in a certain perimeter...it's just nice out. Let me take a stab at something--Mazie, right?"
Yeah, it was nice outside, but outside didn't have a computer. Looking back at the girl, Mazie noted that she seemed nice. Bubbly, almost, like someone she'd chatted with earlier on her journal. And when she guessed her name correctly, Mazie nodded. "That's me," She said, trying to place a girl she'd never really met face to face. She ended up giving up trying to place her, half wondering if this one was of the people she'd spoken to. "...Who are you?"
Autumn stood up, holding her hand out to shake. "Autumn! I said hello before, and hijacked one of your threads. I'm sure if you're Miss Computers, that you've heard of Megan Mills too?" she asked. "Kind of strange, isn't it? The whole...famous people thing? I never even thought about who I might meet that I'd read about."
Mazie shifted the bags in her hands to awkwardly take the other girl's after a moment. She knew that was the socially acceptable thing to do so that meant that she was shaking her hand. "...Don't know if I consider her famous, really, but I have heard of her. She's well known. Read enough about her, her case was all over the news." Though that thread had left Mazie feeling like Ms. Megan Mills might be a bit of a brat. Autumn had been kind enough to stick up for Mazie on her impromptu spew of excitement about having a computer and she felt a little like Megan had had a tone in that thread. "Hey, it's what it's there for...hijacking or whatever. Not really my thread, just a thread for people to post on. I'm just excited to have a computer again, hijack the threads all you want."
"Want me to help you carry things?" Autumn offered, after she shook Mazie's hand. "Her name was splashed all over the tabloids for ages, what's famous if not that?" she asked curiously. "And thank you, I may do that. It's kind of nice to have that medium to say hello to people. Did you see the one guy who says he's pretty shy?" she asked. "It's probably really great for people who have a little more trouble with social interactions. Plus, I'm sure there's people here that need a little bit of distance, til they settle in. So, computers are your thing?" she asked, inviting Mazie to talk about herself.
Preaching to the choir, sister, Mazie thought, though she started to walk without considering Autumn's offer. Then she stopped and realized she hadn't actually acknowledged it or give her a bag of chips or something to carry...Was she even supposed to be taking this food? She didn't know and no one was stopping her, but now she felt like she might be taking the food from Autumn, which was kind of weird but maybe it was because she was the only one who'd caught her in the act, so to speak. "Uh...sure, guess so..." She said, offering over a few bags of chips.
"You're really ...happy," She ended up saying initially, kind of surprised. And while yes, this was a step up, they were still kind of in jail, sort of. "You could say that, yeah. Computers are my thing. Kind of surprised at all they're even letting me near a computer, let alone giving me one for myself."
Autumn took the bags, and moved to walk along with Mazie. "I'm not in jail anymore, I have a chance to not rot for the next fifty some years, and it's a gloriously nice day. What's not to be happy about?" she posed. "Are you a hacker, I'm guessing?" she asked. "Sorry, if that's not the right term, or something, my knowledge comes entirely from movies and such, so I probably have it all wrong."
"Hacker's my favorite term for it. They called it cyber theft or espionage or whatever they could churn up to throw on my sheet, but hacker's what it is. If you ever heard of Lore, that was me...is me...but not sure that you would and thinking you would is kind of egotistical..." But she'd been in a couple papers, especially after she'd gotten caught trying to gain access to that Senator's bank account...and grabbed some personal information on the side... A couple of national papers had picked up the story for a little bit, until something more interesting had come along, but Mazie still remembered the headlines.
"Espionage? Very...James Bond." Autumn commented. "Lore..." she paused, thinking it over. "You know, I actually think I did read something about you! Huh. Guess this place is full of famous people." Really she was thinking of her clients had mentioned her, and she'd read an article only after that. She was quiet for a moment, then smiled. "I like your tattoos." she offered. "Very unique."
James Bond. Really? Was she? No way. She was zero like James Bond but it was kind of cool to be likened to him. "Not so sure about famous..." Most famous people were ridiculously rich and not exactly willing to share their wealth with the people who needed it. "Just doing what I can to make things better." The compliment on her tattoos had her smiling for real. "Thanks..My mom hated them, said I was ruining what God gave me, but they just..had to be there, I guess. You have any tattoos?" Did she ask what Autumn was here for? Or was that not exactly socially acceptable? She knew what she was in here for now... "..What about you?" She ended up saying after a moment, trying to separate the tattoo question and this one with just a pause, which probably didn't make much sense to anyone outside of her mind.
Autumn laughed. "You have trouble with the concept of fame, don't you?" she asked. "If people have heard about you, or read about you, then you're famous." she told her. "And I definitely read about you." she confirmed. "And making things better--that's quite the commitment! I like the sound of it." she added thoughtfully. "I did that, just on a really small scale." she added. "As for tattoos, no, I don't have any of my own. I think I'm too fickle to get anything that I think I would still appreciate long term? But I like the look of them on other people. I mean, some. Some are pretty..." she trailed off, shaking her head. "I'm sure you've seen bad tattoos before. But I really like yours. I've never seen anything like them before."
Mazie listened, watching Autumn as she spoke. "If you made things better, you made things better. Don't scale down what you did, whatever it was. If you believe in it, then you should stick up for it." She smiled again, not really able to help it. It was kind of weird, actually, because she hadn't remembered smiling since before she got tossed in prison. "...Thanks. Was kind of hoping no one else had something like these. They were a bitch to get, though..." She stopped their slow walk, pulling at the leg of her gray sweatpants to show a smallish tattoo on her right ankle, a little Space Invaders alien that looked a bit like an 8-bit crab. "Have you seen this before?"
"I very much believe in it." Autumn told Mazie with a soft smile on her lips. She reached up to tuck her hair behind her ear, sincerity in her body language. When Mazie showed her her ankle, she looked down to inspect the ink there as well. "Oh! It's that game, right?" she asked. "Little...space aliens..." she trailed off, laughing. "Before our time, right?" she asked. But she did recognize it from something.
Mazie was surprised how easy it was to talk to this girl. Things were never this easy. Never. And this was a little strange considering she usually never got this far in a conversation with someone. "Yeah, Space Invaders. Before our time, definitely..but still awesome. Little space aliens. Read somewhere the designer tried to base the aliens off of marine creatures. This one's a crab. There were squid ones and stuff..." Turning to look at Autumn, she broke down. "Ok I really want to ask what brings you here..."
Autumn smiled, and sighed. "It's inevitable, I suppose." she said. "The obligatory 'what're you in for' question. So, I won't make you come out and ask. I was convicted of prostitution." she supplied, no trace of shame in her tone. "As for why I was actually sent to prison for it, and for as long as my sentence was...that's a little more complicated. I'm still not sure I actually know the real reasons why. I just know I blinked, and I went from having a life I loved to..." she trailed off. "And now I'm here! And I'm happy to be here." she finished with a bright smile.
Prostitution, interesting. Definitely not what she would have pegged Autumn for but then again, she wasn’t really sure what she would have pegged a girl so chipper for crime-wise anyway. “You don’t know?” She asked, frowning a little at that. “I’ll see what I can dig up.” If she could dig up anything immediately, that was. She still wasn’t sure exactly what she could do with this computer just yet. But the challenge was tempting already.
Smiling a little sadly, just for a moment, Autumn shrugged. "I wasn't a streetwalker type of prostitute. I was a high priced call girl. I had some clients that...weren't the type of people who should have call girls, I suppose. But...I honestly don't know what I'm meant to know." She blinked slightly at Mazie's saying she'd dig things up. "Are you sure you want to do that? I was a prostitute that got thirty-five years. For a misdemeanor. It might not be the best move for you to poke around in it...you really don't have to. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you."
That made a little more sense, if the prostitution thing was going to make sense to Mazie at all in Autumn’s case. She could definitely pull a high-class call girl image from her, not so much the streetwalker type. She glanced back at Autumn, giving the girl a little smirk. “We might have some of the same kinds of enemies. They’re hiding too much and they think they can get away with it just because they’ve got the means. You deserve to know and I’m gonna find out for you. Trust me, I’ve poked around enough on my own already. They already don’t like me but I don’t really give a shit.”
"The word 'state secrets' was thrown out there during my trial..." Autumn told her, hoping to deter her. Though, after she said it, she wondered if that was like baiting her. She needed to think things through slightly better, she was thinking. She really didn't want Mazie getting nailed for something like looking into her background. It wouldn't be fair. Plus, she liked the girl so far, and she was really happy to have someone to talk to. Maybe she wouldn't find anything. Her concern showed through loud and clear.
“State secrets are the best kind of secrets,” Mazie said with a real grin forming. “Remember I got nailed for espionage, right? I can at least check around, see what I can find. Us criminals have to stick together. If they’re gonna throw you in jail for a misdemeanor, we’re gonna find out why and who’s behind it.” At least it was definitely on the top of her to-do list now, once she figured out the computer and the systems attached to it.
"Well, I hope you don't get into any trouble on my account." Autumn told her. "But if you're determined, you're determined. I would like to know." she admitted. She wasn't even sure what 'secrets' she might have. She wasn't denying that she might have some--just she had no clue what they could possibly be.
“Sometimes you have to face trouble to get to the truth,” Mazie said, shrugging a little. She liked this girl. She’d been nice enough to stick up for her and now Mazie was determined to help her find out any truth she could. And there was also the challenge aspect tacked onto this, since she wasn’t sure what she’d be able to actually get done. It was all too enticing to say no to.
"I suppose that's true." Autumn said. "Anyways...where are we bringing the chips?" she asked with a light laugh. "You planning on spending your day getting your computer all ready to go how you like it?" She knew people could be very particular about that. She liked to make things pretty on hers, choose a nice background, that sort of thing, but she didn't do that much with computers. She was a lot more hands on than that in her life.
“I’m planning on spending my day trying to figure out what I can and can’t get this computer to do. And then breaking that down even further from what I can’t get it to do to what I just need to work at a little more.” She said, looking back at the chips in her hands. “...I need a stash of food so I don’t have to walk down to the kitchen all the time. Otherwise, I can guarantee you eating will be the last thing on my mind unless I can grab something beside me and snack while I work. Not to mention the kitchen is probably the furthest point from my room. I’m upstairs in the far back corner.”
"What number?" Autumn asked. "And if you forget to eat, that's not good, you know. I could always make you something and bring it by." she offered, thinking she was probably going to try to take up cooking, and cooking for one sucked, regardless. So, she was going to try and see about going about things differently.
“Room 22,” She said, but the following granted Autumn a surprised, confused look. “...You’d want to do that?” Why would she bother? This girl was nice but that was surprising, especially coming from her prison, where the people nearest to her so rarely gave a shit about the others that it was always sort of surprising when someone did. And she was still thinking that Autumn was just a happy, nice kind of person, but to make her dinner was not something she would have expected.
"I'm in room seventeen." Autumn told her, just in case Mazie wanted to look her up at any point. "And why not?" she asked with a sweet smile. "My social calendar isn't exactly chock full of anything, so I thought I'd maybe try my hand with cooking. I've done a little before, but not much, and cooking for one is depressing." she shared her logic, easily letting Mazie in on her feelings on the matter.
"Room 17, noted," She said, ending up smiling a little. It was actually really nice to know that Autumn was just a few doors down. "Well...I'll more than likely be up all night so if you want to stop by and just...hang out, I'll be there," She suggested, kind of surprised at herself that she did. "..Though I'll be honest, I'm gonna be nose deep in this computer all night. Fair warning. But if you're willing to cook for me, then I am more than willing to eat it. I’m a shitty cook.”
Autumn beamed at Mazie for that. "Oh! I might!" she decided. She wasn't quite sure how well she would sleep in a strange place tonight, so she may need to go visiting people in order to keep herself sane. She missed this, real conversation, non confrontational interactions... "I'll bring you something by later, then, so long as you don't hate me if I'm still finding my feet, cooking-wise."
"Please, I cook Ramen Noodles and maybe, sometimes, put a can of chunk chicken in it. You physically cannot be worse than me," She said, trying to be reassuring as she started up the stairs towards the second floor. "If you know how to use the oven, you're better than I am,” She said with a little grin.
"I do know how to use the oven." Autumn said, laughing. "I did a little cooking for a client at one point. So, I know a thing or two." she said. "I'll have to see what they've even got available." Moving ahead of Mazie, she leaned her back against the door that would let them onto the balcony of the second floor, holding it open for the blonde. "We'll see how I do."
"So you cook for clients too?" Was there any way to be curious about Autumn's work without sounding judgy? Because she wasn't judgmental, she didn't really have any sort of issue with the idea that Autumn was a call girl. "Did they like...take you out to ballets or operas and stuff?" Or maybe she was confusing what really happened with Pretty Woman...
"I do a lot of things for clients." Autumn shared, knowing most people were terribly curious about her line of work. It was only natural, so she was expecting it. "I went to a lot of operas and ballets, I went to fancy parties, I went to political functions, I stayed at their house and played six hours of Halo, I cooked dinner, went to the beach, went to the movies, was a listening ear and warm hug when they needed it...I was a whole lot of things, I did a whole lot of things. Including marriage counseling, in my own...unique sort of fashion, I suppose."
Mazie listened but one bit caught her attention and had her perked up a little. “Did you only play six hours of Halo ever or did you play that pretty frequently? Because I could use a Halo friend.” If they even had or would have access to that here. Or again. But hey, she had access to a computer now and she was positive they’d never let her near one for the rest of her life, so maybe there was an XBox lying around here somewhere. She didn’t mean only to focus on the Halo but really, that was pretty damn exciting and Mazie wasn’t great with interactions so she wasn’t really thinking through the need to comment on everything else just yet.
"Frequently. Along with a lot of other games. He didn't have anyone to play with that wasn't online, and he liked having the personal experience of playing games with someone in the room." Autumn supplied. "He liked first person shooters a lot, though we played a few where you could see the people on screen as well. Over-the-shoulder view?" she suggested. "I did my homework on gaming, but I hadn't done that much of it until he got me into it, so if I'm getting any of the terminology wrong, I apologize."
"Third-person shooter?" She smiled a little more. She was going to have to search this place and see if there were any consoles around. Not only was this girl nice, but she played shooters. "Your terminology is just fine. So you have a favorite game then?" Somehow, she'd never imagined that Autumn's job would entail that, playing video games, going to the opera..."I don't know if prostitution is what you should call what you do. Doesn't seem right."
"Yes." Autumn said, smiling. "As for a favorite...I'm not sure, actually? I tend to find something I like about everything." she admitted. She paused, tilting her head to the side at Mazie's assessment. "I usually go for 'call girl' or 'escort'. But What would you call it?" she asked, curious. It was interesting for her.
"Startin' to think you find something you like in everyone too. Real nice trait." Mazie said softly, thinking that she certainly couldn't do that. There were too many people out there she loved to hate and it was honestly kind of admirable that Autumn could do so. "...Friend. Or just...a decent person, I don't know...but it's doing you a disservice to call it prostitution, that's for damn sure."
"I do." Autumn said with a warm laugh. "I like people. Everyone's unique, everyone has their own hopes, dreams, quirks, desires." she added. "I like being a part of people's lives, and with the way I do things, that's in a lot of different capacities." she continued. "The closest thing I've ever come to to seeing how I view things was in this little sci-fi show." she shared. "I'm a companion for people. I appreciate your point of view, honestly. Most people hear even the start of what I do and stop listening or get all disgusted. You're very sweet to take a different look."
"That was more than just a little sci-fi show. You can just see the big damn heroes in all of us, I guess," Mazie said, grinning a little more. "And most people suck. Who gives a shit what most people say or think? Only thing that matters is that you know what you're doing, that you make the choice for yourself. And hell, you're the best companion I've ever heard of. Anyone here looks at you like that, all disgusted-like, you tell me," Mazie said seriously, looking back at Autumn over her shoulder.
Autumn lit up, laughing in delight. "Yes!" she agreed. "Big damn heroes..." she continued. Then she trailed off, looking at Mazie with a sweet, soft expression. "You'd stand up for me?" she asked. It wasn't that no one in her life ever had, of course. It was more just she wasn't used to the idea of it in the context of prison. She hadn't done exceedingly poorly where she'd been before, but she also hadn't had people already signing on to stand up for her. It was something she appreciated, even if she rather hoped it never had to happen. It was sweet, unexpected, and gave her warm fuzzies.
Mazie was quiet for a moment and then smiled a little at Autumn. "You betcha. Anytime of the day or night." There was something about this girl that had Mazie already on her side. Maybe it started with the thread, but there was more to it than that. "There's no one here that gets any right to think you're less than them and if they start acting that way, I'll take them down, you just say the word."
Watching Mazie, Autumn smiled, the warm fuzzies getting all the more fluffy. "I'll keep that in mind." she told her, and she also gave the blonde a quick little peck on the cheek. Nothing lingering, just a little token that expressed her affection and appreciation for the entire proceeding. "Thank you. For not sucking." she said genuinely, latching onto Mazie's earlier description of people.
The peck was surprising and it had Mazie feeling a strange sensation of happy warm fuzzies of her own and an instant 'this person just kissed me' feeling, which mostly came from the fact that she didn't have many tales of people kissing her at all, even just a peck on the cheek. In the end, she let the happy, warm feeling spread instead of letting the other one take root and smiled. "Right back at ya," She said, leaning in enough to nudge Autumn with her elbow just a little.
Autumn smiled, pleased with this entire encounter. "I do try." she told her playfully. And she left off the quip about only doing so as requested. She got to the room that was Mazie's, and stood back so the other girl could open up the door, not wanting to invade her space. "This morning has been awesome so far. I like it here already."
Mazie couldn't say that she'd been thrilled about being tossed into a car with some chains and a blindfold on, but all in all the day had been pretty successful. Opening the door, she went inside and tossed the bags of chips down onto her table, looking back at Autumn. "Well don't just stand there, come inside already," She said, grinning as she sat down at the chair nearest the computer, subconsciously feeling like she needed to stick near it if she was in the room. "It's nice here so far, yeah. Pretty glad I don't have a cellmate who looks like she wants to eat my face off."
Walking in, Autumn put her bags down on the table, smiling at the similarities in the rooms. "I'm happy to not have a cell mate anymore as well. Plus the bed seems nice. The rooms are definitely a step up." she said pleasantly. "I'm just dying for a bubble bath! I'm telling you, I'm working out a way to do it."
"I have a computer. The room could be a broom closet, I wouldn't care. What was your cellmate like?" Watching Autumn, Mazie turned a little in her seat and logged in, not exactly happy with the idea that someone was already tracking her movements there. She'd have to work that out soon. Glancing back at the other girl, she listened then looked off to the bathroom. "Can you use the shampoo? Not ideal I guess."
Sighing a little, Autumn sat down on the couch. "She was...dominant." she said carefully. “What was yours like?” When shampoo was mentioned, Autumn smiled. "I figure if that's all I've got, I'll go with it, I just would love a proper bubble bath. It's the little things." she said wistfully. "Like not doing group showers. A bath will be heavenly. I'll just need to find myself a book, and I will be all kinds of happy."
That was offputting. And instantly Mazie hated it. "...She got a name?" She asked, ready to add her to the list of people she'd fell as soon as she was able to work her way through this system. "She was a massive bitch. Didn't help that I am also a massive bitch so we didn't get along too well. But she eased up a little once she found out that her threatening me didn't mean I wasn't going to not want to empty her bank account right into mine."
A book. When was the last time she'd read a book? Way before she got her computer. "If you can stand the sound of typing and you find a book, that couch is yours," She offered, scrolling idly up and down the page that held everyone's posts on it, just so she could feel the smooth material under her fingers again.
"Sorry to hear about your cell mate." Autumn said genuinely, sympathetic. "And you haven't been even a little bit of a bitch to me." she added. "I'm glad you found a way to deal with it," she continued, sincerely glad to hear it. After all, not everyone did. "My cell mate's name was Tesha Neil. She liked throwing her weight around." Autumn trailed off at that, however, not really wanting to get into it too much. "I was alright. I'm someone who can adapt to situations well, it just wasn't overly pleasant. But it was prison, it wasn't supposed to be, and I know I had it far easier where I was than a lot of people. I was in what they refer to in movies as a 'country club prison'. Minimum security, all that." At the offer of the couch, another smile lit Autumn's lips. "You don't mind my hanging out here, even if you're busy?" she asked.
That was not good. Mazie already had the name saved in her mind, Tesha Neil, as top priority. Right up there with finding out what exactly Autumn got pegged for and by whom. She didn't press when Autumn let it drop, but she wasn't about to let Tesha get away with being the person who let sweet, happy Autumn sound like that. "Prison is prison, no matter which way you slice it." Turning a little, she shrugged, tapping her fingers on the computer as she tried not to let herself get too frustrated that she couldn't just grab an internet connection and rip Tesha to shreds. "If you don't mind me getting consumed by the work, I definitely don't mind you hanging out here. I won't be using the couch or the bed when I'm at the computer. Might even be nice to have some company." Which was a surprising thought indeed, since she had barely let her own parents in the room with her while she worked. But that was different, they were on a need to know basis and they hadn't needed to know what she was doing.
"I'll probably take you up on it. I don't like spending that much time alone." Autumn said honestly. "And of course, just so you know, my room is open to you as well! Come by whenever. If you want to use my computer too, you're free to do so." Even if Mazie was a hacker, it wasn't like Autumn had anything to hide. She wasn't that kind of person. Nothing she had to say would really be anything that other people couldn't see. Or, that was how she figured things would go. She didn't see herself abruptly becoming secrative.
That was definitely something. So much of something that Mazie turned in her seat again and ended up leaning against the back of it, legs on either side of the seat. "You'd let me use your computer?" She asked in the same tone that Autumn had had earlier. She was a hacker and with that knowledge, Autumn was still willing to let her use her computer? And it wasn't like Mazie was going to do anything on Autumn's computer that could be traced back to the girl, but the offer was still so foreign that she hadn't processed it clearly yet.
"Sure." Autumn confirmed with a smile and a shrug. "I don't have anything going on that's private, really. If there was something, I'd just ask you not to look at it, but I'm not really a person who keeps secrets in the first place. At least, not like that." she said. "But you seem to love them, and have a real connection with technology, so why not? Me casa es su casa, as it were. Have at it." she invited. She didn't believe there'd be any harm.
Wow. That was something. This girl was really something. "Then you too...with the casas and stuff...Maybe once I figure out this system, I can tweak your computer too. Get you some more perks on it." Autumn was right, Mazie did love technology and she was excited that the prospect of having another computer to mess around with too. And it was nice to be trusted like that so easily. "Just so you know, I wouldn't look at your personal information or anything. Nothing you wouldn't want me to. So no worries there.” Others sure, maybe, but not Autumn. Not now that she was getting to know her.
"Go for it! Maybe we could set up gaming on it?" Autumn suggested, thinking that might be something Mazie would enjoy, and she would too. "And that's good. Mostly if you want to know anything? Just ask! I'm an open book." she said absolutely sincerely. She really was happy to talk about anything.
"Maybe so. If anyone here can, it's probably me," She said, not realizing that it might not sound the way she wanted it to. She intended it to be just a comment, just a fact, but somehow when she said stuff like that other people tended to think she was being pretentious. She rested her arm on the back of her chair and then her chin on her arm, staying quiet for a moment. "You're really easy to talk to,” She said, surprise in her voice. “I'm not generally but it's easy to talk to you. It's nice."
Autumn took it at face value, believing in her ability. And she was excited at the prospect. When Mazie told her she was easy to talk to, a warm, sweet expression fell over her features, leaked into her body language. "It's very nice." she said, "Finding someone easy to connect to." she said, meaning Mazie, of course. "I'm really glad I've met you, and that we've had a chance to talk! We're very much going to be doing this all the time."
"Looking forward to it," She said with a smile. And for once, Mazie was. She meant it. She usually didn't. People were weird and confusing and she never ended up saying what they wanted to hear, but Autumn was different. She was as honest as Mazie could hope to find in a person and that was a quality she respected. Plus her kindness and yeah, she kissed her on the cheek. And she offered her computer to Mazie, so the scale of Autumn points were already stacking up pretty high.
"So am I." Autumn said, smiling at Mazie. She officially had a new friend. And she was pretty ecstatic about it.
