Jason smiled at the nickname as well as the bright greeting. "Yeah, that's about right. That, and 'maybe I was right, even though I was joking, and this is some sort of fucked up experiment'." He could think of a few that were disturbingly similar setups to this.
He felt kind of bad, because Reggie looked genuinely upset about all of this. Not that he blamed him really, because this situation was fucked up, but... Shit, there were way too many variables. Too much unknowns and what ifs. How were they supposed to make an informed decision like this?
Jason watched the strange man clamor for a vote, and watched Brady leave for the tool shed. He knew that he would end up over there with him, but he did want to... not exactly explain himself to Reggie, but also to make sure all the risks were considered here. So he wanted to speak his own concerns as well as hear what Jae and Reggie had to say about it. "I'm not saying I agree with the methods they're using here, because stocks are just all kinds of messed up but... Like Jae said, looking big picture... We were told there would be consequences if we didn't do this. If I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that my choice not to cooperate would only result in punishment to myself? I probably wouldn't go along with this. But I don't, and I'm not willing to risk other people being punished for my choices."
Sighing, he continued. "As for the stocks themselves... Yeah, it's messed up, but given the way things have escalated from extra chores and shit to stocks? If we don't do this, the next step is probably going to be worse. At least with the stocks, we can do like you said, and make sure it doesn't get dangerous. We can make sure it's only embarrassing and uncomfortable. If we don't? We might very well lose any chance of that." He didn't necessarily feel any sympathy for what these guys had done, didn't know enough to form that sort of opinion yet, but he was trying to think long term here. Stocks were bad, but if this escalated any more, torture could be a real possibility, and that was one he did not want to see come to light.
