Carmel managed not to take a step back when he whirled looking ready to use his fist, but she never was someone to be cowed by that, especially when he looked startled. She simply held her hands up peaceably for a moment, giving him a calm smile though her eyebrows raised slightly. "Nice to meet you, Brady. New here, right?" she said, thinking through the faint haze of tiredness over her brain. "Yes, I'm the cook," she said. "I was going to prep some breakfast stuff, but I don't need the stove or anything yet, so you're good to go. Is there anything you want me to whip up for you while I'm here?" she asked helpfully.
