"Just checking," Jason answered with a grin. "Wasn't sure if you were taking pity on the poor, stupid Yank. And that's the good thing about playing some game in the backyard or whatever. You don't have to worry about all those pads."
He shook his head, smiling slightly. "I didn't mean it like that." He did have several scars, but most of them were just... standard hazards of his old job. Nothing really remarkable. There were really only two worthy of note, and one of them was readily visible since he hadn't worn his bracelet to cover it while he was working out. "What I meant was, if your lack of a sense self-preservation only resulted in that one, you're pretty lucky. Granted, so am I, which sort of reinforces what we were saying earlier about God, or whatever higher power or whatever, looking after stupid people." That made him think for a second. "I don't know. Maybe I was wrong. I guess it's more like we both win. You were lucky enough to only lose some of your memory, which, granted is bad enough, but not near as bad as it could have been, and I was lucky and this scar back here," he reached around and used his thumb to point out the general area under his right shoulder blade, "doesn't have a matching one on this side." He brought his arm back around and gestured to where that second scar would have been had the metal piping gone all the way through. It really had been mostly luck that he hadn't been killed, but it had been several years ago, and he was more than okay with joking about it now.
Jason couldn't help but smile at the idea. It had been... a very long time since he'd had a chance to have a sparring match with anyone. He had no doubt that Reggie's so called moves were probably relatively dirty fighting tricks - because dirty or not, they were practical - but that didn't really bother him. Sometimes it was fun throwing training up against simple practical experience. He still didn't doubt that he would win, and maybe that was a bit cocky of him, but no matter what, he was pretty sure he was going to have some fun with it. "Okay. When? And we're going to have to figure out some rules." Not so much rules about what was allowed, but rules about when to stop and how to call it. It wasn't really a competition if there was no way to win, right?
