But it's always easy for people to say that. Just a simple 'well you're a grown up now, choose to do it differently'. But it's never that easy to rewrite your entire coping mechanism structures. That comes with a long trip to therapy land, especially in a case like hers, with her entire life centering around abuse. And because it's something that comes out when she's not in the best control of her emotions, it's even harder to remedy. I'm not disagreeing that she should learn a better way, just saying that it isn't a matter of just smiling, nodding and going 'oh, okay well then I just won't then'."
