"In many ways, it is similar to how it is portrayed," Wu corrected, "And my experience with the city is far from typical. For many, I imagine, it is a good place to live if they can accept the crowded nature. There is culture, always a kindred spirit if you look hard enough, and never a lack of excitement. But over time I saw all of the things that keep people from coming there." The crime and death and filth of the city had, in fact, been tied to Wu's lifestyle in major ways.
"Still, there is much I would see again. And much you should see at least once in your life," he recommended with another little nod. "It is a city that must be witnessed to be understood, a beating heart in and of itself. Just know in advance which neighborhoods to avoid." A sweet girl like her?
