Mazie, Jim, and Rusty
Jim was not a man inclined to make an effort with his appearance, really people were lucky if he remembered to shower on a regular basis. He did however pride himself on having a good sense of fun and a masquerade definitely qualified as that so he had happily gone and rifled through the costumes until something caught his interest. In the end he had opted for an old fashioned suit topped off with a deer stalker. There was even a pipe much to his delight and a quick trip down the shop had furnished him with a magnifying glass to finish the look off.
After returning to his room though, he had gotten caught up in a book he was reading and lost track of time so when he realised how late it had gotten, despite rushing to get changed and over to the courtyard, the party was already in full swing when he arrived. More than accustomed to running late though, he didn’t let that faze him too much and by the time he’d found himself a drink, he was bobbing his head along to the music with a smile on his face as he looked around for his usual cohorts.
Mazie was actually not having a bad time. She'd helped where she could and then had gone back and gotten dressed in the costume that Autumn had picked out for her. She loved it, grinning at the work pants/vest and pink floral shirt combo. Kaylee had always been her favorite character in Firefly and although her hair wasn't quite right for it, Mazie didn't really care. She marched herself up to the refreshments table and grabbed a drink, drifting over to the side until she saw Jim and did a double take. His costume had her laughing to herself before she walked over to his side. "What's the haps, Sherlock? Where’s Watson? Or Rusty?”
Rusty hadn't known what to do for a costume. One of the only things he could think of was one of the Weasley kids, but in the end he just couldn't bring himself to do Harry Potter while in prison. So, after searching through the costumes, he landed on getting his hair to stand on end as he grabbed a red overshirt, a plain white under one, and some jeans. Which weren't actually part of the costumes, they were stuff he had. Apparently, sometimes he dressed like Fry, from Futurama.
Seeing Mazie and Jim, however, simultaneously made him want to be Wash(and he cursed himself for not thinking of that in the first fucking place because sweet), and Watson. He walked over, and gave a half smile, his usual nervous expression as he reached up and almost tugged his hand through his hair, only the gel he'd used to get it to stick up appropriately prevented that. He wound up smoothing his hand down his shirt instead. "Hey." he greeted. "You guys look awesome." Her hair may not have been the right color but Jim still recognised Mazie's costume straight off the bat and his smile turned into a grin. "Looking shiny there Mazie," he said, lifting his drink by way of a salute. He then adopted a faux English accent before continuing, "Alas Watson is nowhere to be found so I'm in the market for a new sidekick. Rusty on the other hand..." He glanced round and saw a familiar head of red hair coming their way. "...is on his way here right now." His grin got even wider as he saw Rusty's costume and he was quick to return the compliment. "You do too Rus'! I am seriously jealous of your hair right now."
