He could do this. He wasn’t the best dancer, but Ru was distracting enough and Adam got the feeling that he didn’t need to do much in the way of moving with her moving like she was. No one would notice him. He almost didn’t notice anything else, but the flash of black and white caught his attention and he looked up, watching Kyle drag Zach to dance. And not in one of those wandering together, but actually pulling the other man along. Who the hell was Zach? Adam’s movements slowed, mouth open a little as he stared, obviously confused.
Ru noticed, and stopped what she was doing. "...you okay?" she asked, catching out of her peripheral vision that Zach had managed to succeed over there.
Adam was biting his lip without even realizing it. His eyes were traveling up Zach’s body, trying to find the appeal beyond the lack of clothing. And while Adam’s costume was picked out for him, Zach’s matched Kyle’s. Maybe it was the buzz that had his mind spiralling, but he wasn’t at all sure what he was seeing. “No.” He hadn’t meant to answer like that, but it was honest. This was not okay.
Ru looked over to follow his gaze, even if she knew where he would be looking. "...Is it your friend?" she asked. "What's going on? I'm a good listener." she promised.
“Yeah...I...he’s with someone else.” Which sucked. That might have sucked more than Kyle turning him down. The duo brushed against one another, something that was probably accidental, but Adam thought of it as a shot to the heart.
Eying Adam for a moment, she moved to block his view of the couple. "Hey." she said. "I'm assuming him being with someone else is what's upsetting. You like him?"
Adam jolted when she moved in front of him and blocked his view, frowning at her. He wanted to lie, but what else would he say? “Yes.” He felt his cheeks warm up, thankful for the mask because it covered parts of the blush.
"Aaahh." Ru said. Then she looked back over at them. "Does he like you?" she asked, curious.
His mouth went dry, trying to sort out that answer before he forced himself to look away. “It’s complicated.” That was the short version. Kyle somewhat did, but no matter how much he liked Adam or not, it didn’t wind up with them together.
That had Ru smiling. "Well then. There's really only one answer to this situation, Adam." she told him. "You and I go over there, and give a little show. See if he gets jealous. If he does, then...who knows. Maybe that might prompt something. People have this terrible habit of not realizing what they've got til it's gone. There was even a song about it." she winked.
“A what?” Adam frowned, looking at her. “What kind of show? I don’t think...” Would Kyle get jealous? What would that mean?
"Dance real close. Have some hands on going on. I'll kiss you." she told him. "What could it hurt?" she asked. "He's already dancing with someone else, and you don't even know what's up with you guys. I say the only thing it could do is throw some sparks into the mix, and sometimes sparks are all you need."
