Ru stalked her target well, skirting around the edges of the party til she came up behind Adam, lightly bumping into him as if she’d backed up slightly farther than she intended, the back of her shoulder gently knocking against his. She whirled around, gasping a little then giggling. “I’m so sorry!” she said. “I should watch where I’m going better.” she told him. “....also, hellooooo, aren’t you handsome in your knight in shining armor costume!” she said, glancing him up and down with a pleasantly buzzed looking smile.
Adam wasn’t expecting to be bumped into, not when he’d just let Wren go and was watching her walk away. He felt so good how things were. Sure, sometimes he and Kyle were on shaky ground and yes he’d strongly considered stupid things when Kyle had given him the shield and sword, but his friends were there for him. They had done something so sweet, just for him. it was beyond wonderful. He’d been caught up in it so it took a moment to realize that the someone who’d bumped into him was talking to him. Once he managed to focus on her, Adam found himself blushing over both the attention she was giving him and the practically translucent look of her outfit. “I...uh....thanks.”
She noted the blush but didn't appear to. "You're welcome! But really I should thank you, because you certainly made this night much more hot." she added. "So what's your name? I don't think we've met yet." she said, smiling happily at him.
Him? Surely she had to mean someone else. “I..Adam. I don’t think I’m the hot one. Not with you around.” Forcing a smile, even if he still felt caught off guard, Adam forced himself not to look anywhere but her face. “And you are...?”
"Hi, Adam, I'm Haruko, or Ru, you pick." she said, giving him the standard choice on her name. "And if you don't think you're hot, you must have not glanced in a mirror, because you are looking good." she said with a note of approval in her tone. And, it was honest--the guy was built well. She gave her hips a little shake to make the coins and such jingle for him. "And thanks! It's pretty much what I was going for. Couldn't resist." she said with a wink.
“Hi Ru,” Adam went with, sure he’d pronounce the first option wrong. There was no avoiding the blush again at her compliment and distantly he kind of wished someone else would have seen it that way too. “I guess that’s what I was going for too.” Her jingling hips proved to be a completely different distraction and he found himself staring at that part of her anatomy more than he should. “No..glad you didn’t.” What was he even saying? That wasn’t like him, but at the same time, what was like him? How did he even know?
Ru grinned. "A man after my own heart!" she said, tone flirty. "I swear, sometimes people don't know how to just have a little fun!" she said. "Wanna dance?" she asked. "I make no promises not to sway my hips enticingly, and I expect you to not get stuck on being a gentleman."
Adam almost said no. He really did. Then, just before the word slipped out, he realized he didn’t have a good reason to say no. She wasn’t ugly, and she was asking him to dance. Who else was going to ask him to dance? Meg could barely stand, he’d danced with Wren and he guessed Mazie was distracted with Autumn. And then there was Kyle and he was sure Kyle would be against that. “Sure,” he heard himself say, but smiled with it. What the hell right? it was a party. He remembered those. He could go back to that.
Ru grinned. "Excellent." she said, reaching out to take his hand to tug him over to a place where she knew she could still keep Zach and Kyle in view, and they would have room to actually dance. It was a song with a good dance beat to it, nothing too insane, but enough of an up beat tempo to really get moving, too. Ru moved well, utilizing her outfit, the jewelry and the sounds it made, and her natural assets.
