Zach had his second drink in hand, sipping at it as he made his way towards Kyle. He was moving slow, watching the man beneath the haze the alcohol was bringing, memorizing him before drifting close enough to speak to Kyle. “Hello.”
Kyle was also on his second drink. His first had gone down remarkably well, and he hadn't hesitated to get a second, even though under normal circumstances he would have done so. He had never held his alcohol well, and the night was already seeming fuzzy. The artist was a happy drunk though and was flitting from person to person, throwing himself into random chats before seemingly losing interest and moving on. When he saw Zach, he smiled widely, "Hey! You look great! Fabulous! The wings definitely are very, very you," Kyle said, slurring only slightly.
Zach picked up on the signs of intoxication with ease, despite the hum along his own skin from the alcohol. He hasn't had a drink in years, double that for two, but he was experiencing more than usual tonight and fine with the edges feeling fuzzier. "Yes?" He asked, feeling more warmth than usual spread across his skin. "As do you. Enchanting." Not his first word choice, but if he and Ru were playing their game...then it was a good choice.
Kyle tipped his head to the side slightly. "That's a big word for you," he observed. "Or, no - not big. Different. You're not usually... Descript-y like that." He waved his hands in a gesture which was meant to help with the explanation there. "But thanks - I like it. We both look awesome."
Zach felt something different rise up in him at that. It wasn't the nerves of being close it Kyle, but rather something far darker, something he hadn't felt in a long while. "Am I not? I suppose I needed a good reason." His voice was lower, a different tone, and his eyes were intent on Kyle.
Kyle laughed. "See, I told you that coming to this party would be good for you," he said, his eyes flashing with the same laughter.
Kyle had said as much and Zach nodded along with it. "I was referring to you, but I suppose, yes." It had made things all the more interesting.
Kyle blinked. "Me?" he asked, looking confused for a moment. "Oh, right. That's... very nice of you." Kyle shook his head a little, trying to clear it. He felt like he needed to be thinking straight right about now. Like maybe there was something he was missing here. "Are you having a good time?" he asked, deciding to just move the topic of conversation.
Zach was fine with the confusion, though it brought more focus to him, which in that moment was also fine. He could see the line starting to map out in front of him. He was in no way adept at relationships or flirting, he had learned a special brand of manipulation. "So far, yes." The lie was smooth, not there at all. "You?"
"Oh yes - I'm having a great time! I love parties like this. Of course, I haven't been able to go to one in such a long time," he said, gesturing again, sending some of his drink slopping over the lip of the glass he was holding. "And everyone looks fabulous - they've all tried and that's great. Just great!"
Zach reached out one hand to steady Kyle's drink hand, fingers closing over the younger man's to keep from spilling more. "Have you been dancing?" As unsure of dancing as Zach was, the idea held connotation enough.
