“I’m aware, but emotions don’t play into things for me as much as they do for others,” he told her. The logic she presented had him frowning ever so slightly. “I suppose I was.”
"Then don't automatically assume it was bad." she told him with a smile. "Sometimes, there's just simple chemistry with someone." she added. "Perhaps that's what you're feeling now." she suggested.
Zach found himself glancing towards Kyle, finding it easy to spot the man in the crowd with his wings. Maybe that was it. The chemistry. “I’m not sure I know what to make of that.” He was a guy for starters, but while that wasn’t quite a bad thing, it wasn’t at all what Zach expected for himself. Though he hadn’t expected to feel that way about anyone, so what did it matter if it was a guy or a girl?
"Don't try to figure it out now. Just try to go with it. See what happens." Ru said. "Spend some time with him. Maybe see if he'd like to dance, or something. You have many options here." she told him with a wink. "Tonight is the night to be a little adventurous."
Zach was nodding along, considering the experiment more than he normally might, but he wondered if that was the alcohol. One part though stopped him in his mental tracks. “Dance?” He actually sounded confused at that and it gave him enough pause to see what Ru was doing. “Why are you trying so hard for me to try this?”
"Dance." she said, demonstrating again while she swayed her hips in time to the music. "Because I think it's awesome that you found someone else to hang out with, and you're telling me things that make me think you should do at least a little exploring. That, and I think you letting loose would be a good thing. I personally would really love to see it. You're very reserved all the time, Mr. Briar. I'd love to interact with you when your walls were a little lower than usual."
She needed to stop doing that thing with her hips. It drew his eyes back to her body, which was far too obvious in what she had on, or what she didn’t have on. “I think my tongue is loosened by this,” he said holding up his drink. “Why does he have to be involved. I don’t think I’m ready for that. Or his friend.”
"His friend?" Ru asked curiously. "And if we go at your pace, you'll never be ready. You barely opted to let me try anything, remember? I had to talk you into it." She stepped closer and smiled up at him. "Think of it this way--if it doesn't wind up feeling like your thing by the time you wake up tomorrow? Then you'll know that that's not an option, and it can be scratched off the list."
"I think his friend might get jealous." Or that was how it seemed to work, if what Kyle said about his friends feelings was true. "I'd require less convincing now," Zach told her, feeling his heart rate start up when she moved closer. "And if I wake thinking of you?" That was the alcohol talking for sure, as Zach would normally never admit to that much and internally he was mortified he'd even suggested it, taking a tiny step away from her.
