Reece wasn't excited about this thing, but he'd said he would be there and he knew he needed an excuse to shower and leave his room. So he found a costume that fit and didn't come with tights, showered, shaved, and left his room. He didn't join the party right away, opted to light a cigarette and look down on it until he spotted a familiar figure also watching from above and drifted her way. He wouldn't have said it out loud, but the old style pilot's uniform was dashing, hat perched back on his head and aviators acting as his mask. He felt good about how he looked, and not just his normal confidence. Maybe he should have gone into the military. He wore a uniform well enough. "You're lucky you're sweet," he said shaking his head as he got closer to Autumn. "Or I'd still be in my boxers contemplating another bad action movie."
Autumn looked over and smiled. "I get that a lot." she told him with a wink. He looked good. She'd been happily looking over a whole ton of people having a good time down there, and it was awesome. She herself looked stunning. She'd put her hair up in intricate twists, and she had on a flowing red and gold dress, something very much fit for Inara from Firefly. She'd gotten things as close as she could, even going with similar make up. "And maybe I'm just lucky, or you wouldn't be here. But come here." she said, crooking her finger at him to get him closer.
Reece had no idea what she wanted, but he was a sucker for pretty girls and Autumn was currently well into gorgeous, and he complied completely willingly. “What?” he asked once he was closer, looking down at her with a sly smile. So what if women had gotten him into loads of trouble, even since being here? He was still going with whatever she wanted. It was better than wallowing and Reece was tired of wallowing. Only he hadn’t been able to shake it on his own, so he was going to let Autumn try and shake it for him.
She smiled and then stepped behind him, to reach up and cover his eyes. Then she turned him around three times, and faced him toward the courtyard again. Then she uncovered his eyes. "Now look. And see a whole lot of people who would never have met til now, partying. It's prison, but we're having a good time. There's drinking and pretty lights, and costumes, and everyone gets to let go for a night. It's fucking awesome."
There was a moment where Reece’s guard went up, not liking his eyes covered, but Autumn was a woman and frankly, he didn’t hit women, and he’d been through enough with his siblings that he just twitched slightly, but made it through her effort to shove him through the looking glass. When it finally stopped he was a little dizzy, lights shifting in his gaze for a moment before he was able to focus again. Letting out a half laugh, he took another drag of his cigarette, blowing it out over the balcony. “I guess it is.” There was a pause before he looked back at her. “I’m the worst kind of company now though. I see this, the lights, the costumes, people having fun and wonder how much of it’s a sham. I have no reason to, but I can’t shake it.”
