Once he was close enough to Kyle to really take in the other man's costume, his feet rooted in the ground. Typically, Adam didn't really care about looks first. He never had. He liked people for who they were and while he noticed looks, that was never what he hung things on. Yes, Kyle was attractive, but Kyle as a person was more attractive than his looks. Tonight though, Kyle's bare but for paint chest and much lower and fitted pants than usual, that was all looks and it sparked a million thoughts that Adam knew full well he wasn't supposed to have. Kyle wanted to be friends. He didn't want to experiment with what it would take to get that paint to rub off. Adam was stuck, staring and fairly certain he'd forgotten what he was supposed to be doing.
Kyle moved away from the person he had been talking to when he saw Adam, easily making his goodbyes and approaching his best friend. "Love the costume," he said, taking the other man by the hand and pulling him off towards his room. "It needs to be finished." Kyle didn't stop to take in the fact that Adam had been staring. Deep down inside, he knew he had been expecting it, and so he ignored it before it could become awkward between the two of them. Kyle wanted to wear this costume and he wasn't going to let Adam's crush spoil what he wanted.
"Does it? I thought it looked good." There went the idea of impressing Kyle. Just right on out the window. When Kyle pulled at him, Adam felt drug along behind him, frowning as he had to dodge his best friend's wings. "You look..." There was a hesitation where he tried to pick the right word, not want to upset Kyle by spouting off gorgeous or incredible. "Cool." It deflated the complement by a thousand at least, but at least he was trying.
Kyle stopped just outside his room and turned to look at Adam. "You look great," he said with a small smile, clearly meaning that. "I love the outfit - I'm really glad you agreed to wear it. I was really hoping that you would," he confessed. After all, once he showed Adam what was waiting in his room, it would be hard to keep the secret any longer. "You make a good hero. I just... wanted to complete the look, that's all," he added, opening his door with his free hand and pulling Adam inside his room. He smirked a little as he took in what Adam said about his costume, the look on his face showing clearly that he knew that wasn't what Adam had meant. He didn't call his friend on it though, he had no intention of doing that. Tonight was all about fun.
That made Adam look even more confused despite the blush at the comment. "I agreed to...you planned this?!" His voice went sharper than expected which surprised even him. "The hero?"
Kyle's face dropped. "Don't be mad at me," he requested. He led Adam further back into his room, where two items lay on the bed. A sword and a shield. The shield was clearly made from what had once been Adam's original door, cut to shape in such a way to retain the symbols Wren had drawn on it, only now Kyle had actually carved them into the wood, along with other lines to create a proper crest. He had then painted and polished the entire thing, adding hold straps to the back. "I'm afraid the sword's only wood," he explained. It was carved and painted silver to look like a proper sword though. The grip and the pommel had also been wrapped with leather strapping, before Kyle had used thin metal wire to add an intricate design which appeared particularly dragonesque.
