Characters: Hayden and Cassandra Setting: Cassandra's room, late Warning: NSFW
At the end of the day, Hayden knew there was only one place he wanted to be, no matter how many questions Ru had helped conjure in Hayden’s mind. He found himself outside Cassandra’s room, knocking on the door, intent on spending the evening with her, if not the night. It had been too long, and wasn’t the point that they were supposed to be together? Hadn’t that been the reason he’d been willing to rob for her, and ended up doing time for her? Sure, he’d intended to pay off his debts with his share of the money, but that wasn’t the point. He never would have considered it if it wasn’t for Cassandra and now he had her back, even if they weren’t technically out yet. He had questions and he intended to ask them when the time felt right. It had been so long since anything felt right, but maybe tonight was a start. It was hard to wait patiently, but he waited, not wanting to bang on the door and alert his brother.
Cassandra knew he’d be there. It was almost too obvious, too easy to guess what he’d do. He hadn’t come right away though, which meant she had time to get ready. The clothes they provided her weren’t her favorites, but the dress she’d slipped on was similar to one she’d had that she knew he loved. White and lower cut, somewhat casual, but the kind that could be made much nicer with the right accessories. When he knocked, she looked at it, then walked back, making him wait a moment before pulling the door open. “I was wondering when you would stop by.”
A smile found his face at the sight of her, eyes softening and heart picking up. The dress was a nice touch, reminding him of the days before the heist, when they’d been so happy together. The questions slipped from his mind, at least temporarily, as he reached for her, one hand resting on her waist. “I was settling in,” he said, having changed into normal clothes himself, a blue button down shirt and a pair of jeans. “You could have come found me.”
Like moths to a flame. Cassandra, used the grip he had on her waist, to guide him further into the room and push the door closed behind him. “I was worried with how Hunter seemed. That you might need time too.” She ran her hand up his shirt, smiling, something soft and sweet.
Hayden followed her in, hearing the door click shut behind them as he pulled her a little closer. “We’re not exactly in the same situation,” he reminded her. Hunter needed time because she’d deceived him, whereas Hayden’s feelings for her had no reason to waver or doubt... except for the questions floating around in his mind. “Why would I need time?”
Cassandra went where he pulled, grinning at him, though it was more for her. It was just easy. “I know you aren’t, but he was rather upset with you as well. He punched you Hayden. It wouldn’t be silly to assume you might need a few hours to get over that.
“I deserve a lot more than a punch from him,” Hayden said. “I’ve been expecting it. Eventually, at least. I just didn’t know when he’d find out.” There was always the chance that Hunter might have forgiven Hayden for stealing Cassandra, but Hayden had never counted on it. It would have been one thing if they’d not gotten sent to prison, but having served time when he might not have been involved? That wasn’t the kind of thing that was forgiven easily, even for brothers.
“Don’t talk like that,” Cassandra scold softly, swatting at his chest, but it was a light movement. ”You couldn’t have known how he’d take it. Don’t beat yourself up about it.” What she needed was Hayden back on her side fully before she apologized to Hunter. Then it was just a matter of roping both of them in.
“I don’t know any guys that would take it well,” Hayden said, his hands lightly rubbing up and down her sides. “I’m sure he sees it that I stole you from him, and if he’d known sooner, he wouldn’t have helped steal the money and he wouldn’t have ended up in prison.” Talking Hayden into not worrying about Hunter was going to be difficult. It was a situation that worried him more than the fact that he’d been sent to prison.
She nodded as he spoke, arms going up to wrap around his neck. “I am sure he sees it that way, but I think he’s going to need time to get over it. The question is what you think about it.” Smiling softly, she pulled herself up closer, testing him to see what he’d do.
With a clear head, Hayden would have said the same, that he’d stolen his brother’s girl, even if that wasn’t his intention, and got his brother a prison sentence as well. It didn’t matter so much that the heist wasn’t Hayden’s idea, but that he could have prevented Hunter from being involved if he’d just followed his gut. Unfortunately, Cassandra’s proximity sometimes prevented him from thinking straight, having gone a good two years without a woman. “I think he’s had time to stew,” he said, leaning down to place a kiss along her jaw. “Maybe being out will help.” Even if they weren’t technically out, this was a hell of a lot better. “But I do wonder... how did he not see it coming?”
“I think it will,” Cassandra agreed about Hunter having had time, but at the same time, she doubted being so close to herself and Hayden was going to be easy. The question, she didn’t like that but she did arch her chin to give him more access. “See what coming? What kind of question is that?”
“I mean, if you were going to break things off with him, let him down easy, you’d been pulling back, right?” he asked, pulling back himself in order to look her in the eye rather that take advantage of her neck. It was an important question, one that stuck in his mind since his conversation with Ru earlier.
Cassandra had to wonder when he’d gotten this smart. He hadn’t been this smart before. “Of course I did. But you know that it wasn’t a quick process. We needed him. I couldn’t just cut the cord and watch him fall.” She frowned and rested her head against Hayden’s chest, seeming small and a sad.
When she curled in against his chest, Hayden immediately felt bad for asking, even if her answer wasn’t what he was looking for. It made him hesitate, one hand lightly brushing over her hair before he asked one last thing. “But what about the six weeks after? Not that I wanted to crush him, but... if you’d broken things off, maybe...” Maybe he could have gotten away, was his thought. They hadn’t needed him then.
“He would have left us,” she said softly looking up at him. “We can’t change the past Hayden, only where we go from here. And I haven’t seen you in a long, long time.” She needed to get Hayden back on her side and not asking such silly questions.
“I know. I just can’t help but think, if he’d left us, he’d have gotten away,” Hayden said. Perhaps he was wrong, that it was foolish to them any of them might have gotten away with it. There were too many what ifs in his mind right now, too many questions without solid answers. He couldn’t answer them himself and he didn’t want to push her away to do it, not when he’d just gotten her back. “I missed you,” he said, one hand cupping her face. “There’s just things I don’t know, things I never asked, and they’re confusing me.”
“I don’t think he would have. I think he would have been a mess if he’d been left alone,” she told him. Leaning into his hand she brushed lips against his wrist. “I missed you too and it seems like we have plenty of time figure out what you don’t know.”
This was true and made Hayden relax a little, though he wondered at what time would have been the right time. Even if he’d been the one doing the stealing, the idea of Cassandra sleeping with Hunter until the time was right to break things off made him uncomfortable. “We do,” Hayden agreed, that little kiss leaving him wanting for more. And if he asked what he wanted to ask, he wasn’t sure he’d get any more. But would waiting help things? Probably not. “When did you stop sleeping with him?” There, he’d asked it. Now he just had to handle her reaction.
Oh for the love of God. This man was painfully stupid wasn’t he? Who had fed him this question. “When I told you I did,” she said, kissing his wrist again. He needed to just go along with things or she was going to get bored.
For a second, Hayden looked lost. Had she told him she had? How had he forgotten that? It seemed like a rather important detail. “My memory’s a bit frazzled, baby,” he said, attempting to play it cool. “Can you remind me? It might help in dealing with Hunter now.”
She reached up and pulled him in closer. “I think I can remind you of something better.” She kissed him softly, something to start with.
Okay, yeah, that was nice, and distracting enough for Hayden to drop the questioning for a moment. With one hand framing her face, he deepened the kiss, the other rubbing over the back of that lovely white dress. For a girl who’d been in prison till now, she seemed just like he remembered her, up till they’d been torn apart.
There it was, that was what she wanted. She kissed him, back, a soft noise slipping into it. It was simple, pressing herself closer against him, pulling back a little, back towards the bed.
Hayden smiled, loving that little noise, eagerly letting him guide her towards the bed. It occurred to him briefly that they shouldn’t be in her room if they were heading that direction, that it wouldn’t be kind to Hunter, but now that he was there he wasn’t going to suggest to her a chance in location.
She knew how to be quiet, out of respect for her goals with Hunter, but this was important for Hayden right now. Once her knees hit the back of the mattress she was sitting pulling him down with her.
Hayden had no issues with moving straight onto the bed with her, even if he had the nagging thought that there was more for them to discuss. It suddenly seemed like something that could wait, that there was no rush if it had waited this long already. Having Cassandra in his arms was more important, as was hiking up that little white dress high enough that he could feel bare skin beneath his hands as he pressed her back into the bed.
That Cassandra liked. She let out a soft gasp, and angled her hips up towards him. Which was good in comparison to him asking questions that she didn’t quite want to answer.
It had been way too long, in his estimation, and he groaned in response to having her hips pressed against him. He pushed one strap off her shoulder, then kissed the skin it bared, appreciating the cut of the dress even more now that he was taking advantage of it. Hayden might have had another purpose in mind when he’d walked in the door, but now it seemed like something that could wait.
“Shh,” she told him gently, reaching up to press a finger against his lips. She let out a soft noise when he kissed at her shoulder, arching towards him. She was fine with this, this was fun, it had been so long and she was glad it finally got him to shut up about the questions.
“I missed you,” he whispered around her finger. He was sure he’d already told her, but he couldn’t emphasize that fact enough. It felt like they should be catching up some other way, making sure each other was okay mentally, but Hayden didn’t want to get into his own experiences enough to bring up hers. Instead, he pushed the other strap off and began to inch the dress down, his lips following the trail of newly exposed skin.
“I missed you too, love,” she said, running her hand through his hair to keep him where he was, humming happily.
It settled him a little to hear that, even if it could so easily be a lie. It was what Hayden wanted to hear, which made it easier to buy into. Reaching behind her, his fingers sought out the hook of her bra as he continued to tug the dress down. The best part of dresses like these were taking them off, in his opinion.
He was also so sure in what he did. Cassandra had forgotten that much. Yes, she’d been using the shit out of them, but it wasn’t like rolling in the hay with them wasn’t fun. Hayden was sure, and Hunter cared. It was always fun. She arched as he pulled at her dress, showing him he was doing everything right.
There was no reason for Hayden not to be sure of what he was doing. The bedroom was the one arena where he generally felt confident. He’d bedded Cassandra before he’d fallen for her and it was possible that their chemistry there played a large part in why he loved her. It never occurred to him that he should maybe look deeper, that she was capable of using him. They fit together too well for her to do that. As he pushed her dress down her rib cage, his lips went to her breasts, teasing them, eyes cast up towards hers. He might have been sure of what he was doing, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to see the confirmation in her expression.
She almost didn’t have to act. What he was doing felt fantastic, just like always, but just for his sake, she dropped a little extra on the top, icing the cake as she let out a silent moan, back arching to get closer to him. It was easy in her mind, fun to play along, let him feel as if she was getting lost in his actions.
Hayden bought into the act easily, as it never crossed his mind that she would need to do such a thing with him. He began to pull her dress down further, the material stretching as he pushed it over her hips. He’d considered pushing it up, but that would leave it bunched around her waist and what he really wanted was to see all of her. The money might be gone, but she was still his prize.
It was almost too easy. She shifted her hips to help him pull the dress lower. Distantly she wondered if this was too fast, if she should have given them more time, but now that she was mostly into it, she knew it would work. Just so long as he was leading things, then it was fine. That was the little bit of rope he needed to hanging himself.
If he was going down the wrong path, Hayden didn’t know it, having expected things with Cassandra to pick up right where they left off. While he didn’t want to come across as desperate, it had been a long time, longer than Hayden had ever gone without a woman since he’d first had one. Having her almost nude and pressed against him wasn’t the best situation for him to be thinking straight. All he could think about now was getting laid, with the slight nagging in the back of his mind that he should be quiet about doing so.
There was nothing as wonderful as a man in heat and she gripped him, pulling him closer. “Please Hayden,” she murmured somewhere near his ear, pushing against that part of him that needed to be wanted. To be needed.
He hadn’t even bothered with his own clothes, so eager was he to get Cassandra out of hers. With those two little words, the way she said his name, Hayden couldn’t care less about how much he was wearing so long as he could be with her. One hand moved down between her legs, while the other tugged at his belt. “You wanna help me, baby?” he asked with a smile, nibbling at her jaw. He only had two hands and he refused to take both off her, as if she might disappear the moment he did so.
She shivered when his hand drifted where it was, amused at herself. Apparently she’d been waiting too. Reaching for his belt she undid it with ease as well as the button and the zipper. “You’re so clumsy,” she teased lightly.
“I’m distracted,” he smiled back at her, capturing her lips with his own. It was so easy now to push his pants down, to lift her thigh up over his hip. He wasn’t thinking clearly enough to even worry about protection-- she’d been on the pill the last time they’d been together and he’d never had to then. Hayden shuddered as he slid into her, the kiss turning a bit rougher, his grip hard as he pulled her hips against his own. Yes, he was distracted. Cassandra tended to do that to him, making him forget anything else possibly mattered.
He didn’t need to worry, she would have stopped him if he had. They’d left her just what she needed protection-wise in her bathroom and she was already back on the pill. If he hadn’t been kissing her when he moved into her, she would have cried out, but instead, the groan got muffled against his mouth. When he tugged at her hard she arched again, nails biting into his shoulder.
Hayden shifted to make her comfortable, taking his weight off her where he could as he found a steady rhythm. The cut of her nails was just right, giving him a sense of desperation on her part, the muffled cry one he took for pleasure. The way she arched against him made him sure there was no mistaking her enjoyment, which meant just as much to him as his own.
“Yes Hayden please,” Cassandra begged, voice low, knowing that getting his name in there would mean all the world. It felt good, so very good and she knew he was capable of getting her there when he concentrated, though she guessed that after two years without it, he might be a little rusty on that part. Not that it mattered. She’d make sure he left the bed feeling like a champion.
It was good to hear her beg, to say his name, as this was one of those times that Hayden wasn’t entirely sure he could focus on her as much as he’d like. It had been so long that his control was shaky, but he was determined as ever when it came to Cassandra, looking to please more than he realized. He could give her what she needed and then have his own. He just had to hold out a little while longer.
She’d trained him so well hadn’t she? Cassandra could sense that he was struggling, fighting that control that he was so damn proud of, but that rarely bled into other aspects of his life like it should. There was no real use in toying with him just this instant, and without real good practice, she was a little out of the habit herself. Moving her hips against his harder, she let out a needy groan against his shoulder, so that it stayed muffled, before forcing herself into a show for him: body arching, nails biting and strangled cry coming from her.
Only seconds after she lost it, so did he, his hips jerking as he gasped her name, hands gripping a little tighter on her hips. She felt so damn good that it had snuck up on him fast, but so long as he got her there as well, it didn’t matter. Eventually his body stilled and he rolled them over, pulling her on top of him. He still had to catch his breath.
Just like that. She liked the way he kept her closer, what it meant. She shifted once she was on top of him, making herself comfortable. “Feel better?” she ventured, resting her arms on his chest and her chin on her arms.
“Yeah,” Hayden grinned, unable to help himself. He did feel better, as if he’d been reassured that things were right where he left them. “You?” he asked, kicking his pants the rest of the way off. It wasn’t a first for him not to be completely undressed, but he was almost embarrassed by how little effort he’d put into it this time. Desperation made things like clothes matter less, so long as they were out of the way.
“Mmhmm,” Cassandra cooed against him softly. She did. She was excited without how good she felt, to be back in the middle of this con. Now if she could get Hunter on the same page as well.
