Characters: Jae and Pippa
Setting: Pippa's room, then on the way to detention
After going over things on the computers and shooting off a message to the boys, Jae headed for Pippa's room. Which was short fucking order since she was practically next door. Knocking, Jae leaned against the railing, waiting for the girl to open up. Or at least hoping she was in, and she didn't have to hunt her the fuck down.
"Oh sheesh, I hope no one opens that door." Pippa had been in the kitchen on her way back upstairs, a full-sized bag of potato chips in her hands. She intended to go into her room, sit down, watch a movie and eat the whole bag but now there was this woman in front of her door and curiosity ensued. "You need something?"
Jae looked over, and oh look, there she was. "Yes, I wanted to ask you a few questions." she answered. "So, got a few minutes?"
"Does that count as one of the questions?" Pippa asked, moving past Jae to open her door. The room was a strange mixture of oddly clean in certain parts and a downright wreck in others. Her bed was a mess, slept in and not remade, but her bathroom, her clothes were all straightened up and tidy. Stepping inside, Pippa motioned for Jae to follow her.
Jae did follow her, not really giving a shit about the state of the room. How tidy people were wasn't her business. "I heard there was an incident between you and Edan." she started with. Because that seemed like it was where everything started.
Innocence on her features, Pippa parked herself on her bed and crossed her legs under her. "What kind of incident?" She asked, immensely curious as to what Jae thought she would get from her by being vague, considering if was one of Pippa's favorite games to play as well.
"How about you just tell me what sort of relationship you have with Edan, and we can go from there?" Jae asked, not about to hand over what she had as information. She was the one asking the questions here.
"I don't have a relationship with Edan," Pippa said simply then crunched on another handful of chips. She made Jae wait until she'd swallowed before she spoke again. "She's cute, though." And Edan was, Pippa could admit that. But what she didn't want to admit outright was what had happened between the two of them.
"Really? Because I've got more than one person saying there was a whole assault thing happening between you two." Jae said. "So there's that. And some other things, so, how about we cut the shit?"
"Or you could tell me what you heard and I can tell you if it's true or not," Pippa suggested, watching Jae again for a moment. She hid as much of her smile as she could behind the chip bag but continued to watch Jae over the top of it.
"Look." Jae said. "You aren't helping your own case. And you can sit and be evasive, but all that does is make you look more fucking guilty. Not to mention the part where you're now saying that you'll play 'true or false' with me when you initially said you didn't have a relationship at all with Edan. So, maybe you want to go all around in circles, or what the fuck ever, but I'm not playing. And you're also sitting there, fucking smiling." she added. The bag might have hid the lower half of her face, but it was one of the most juvenile attempts at hiding it she'd ever seen from an adult. And it didn't hide her eyes. "Did you get into a confrontation with Edan?"
"Why do I have to tell you anything? You came here to ask me questions. I never said I was going to answer them." Pippa said, putting her bag down beside her to show that she was not concerned with really hiding her smile now that she'd been called out.
"Because I'm one of the elected police officers here now, that's why. And again, still not helping your case. If you really want to keep shoving questions into your answers, we can always go down to the detention center, and see how you feel about answering shit later. Because right now, you're a suspect. And you can sit around and be a difficult bitch, and make it all worse, or you can behave like a goddamn grownup, and just answer my questions." Jae snapped.
Pippa was having a hard time fighting the grin. Pippa's endgame wasn't exactly settled yet, but in the meantime she'd decided the best she could do was piss Jae off, or try to. The snapping tone was actually humorous for Pippa. "What happens after I answer your questions?"
"Stand up, please." Jae said. She also walked over toward Pippa, done playing around. She knew the girl was just doing exactly what she had been before--answering a question with a question, just because. She imagined if she answered, there’d just be more bullshit.
"So you're the only one who can ask questions? I think that was a relevant question, considering no one knows what the protocol here is. Plus you're not the only cop, so I'm pretty sure we should have some common ground rules before you get to go making all the decisions yourself." She didn't stand, just watched Jae. "If you answer my question, that one question, I will answer all of yours."
"One more brush off from you and this gets far uglier than it needs to." Jae told her. "If you answer my questions, we might need to discuss other shit. I don't know until you answer them." she said, testing this, but she didn't have high hopes. "Now. Between you and Edan. The confrontation--what happened?"
"We hit each other," Pippa said. It wasn't overtly descriptive but it wasn't false information. Still, Pippa didn't stand. If she wanted to play this game, she was going to need to stay in her room and not a detention cell for as long as possible.
"Go on." Jae said, not about to let that rest as it was. "When, where, how, fill in the blanks." she said.
"When, couple days ago maybe. Where, on the premises. How, our fists found each other." Pippa watched Jae, eyes settled on hers as she spoke. She was most definitely keeping alert around this woman, not eager to repeat having her head bashed in by another blunt object, but also not exactly eager to give up all her information and be the first person to break in this new detention center.
"On the premises where? And what prompted the confrontation?" Jae asked. "The longer you drag this out by not telling me what I actually need to know the thinner my patience gets. The thinner my patience, the more likely I am to decide that this just isn't worth it, and we can go let you chill out in the detention center for a while. Just so you know where we're at, here."
Pippa watched her, really studied Jae for a moment, and weighed her options. How much of this could she keep with her instead of give up to Jae? "Edan and I had a misunderstanding, but we are fine now. I have no qualms with her and am not looking to press charges."
"So, that's a big no on you actually answering the questions I've asked, then." Jae said, considering Pippa really hadn't. She had ignored everything there, given her nothing. So, that was enough of that. "Stand up." she said. "You want to do this the hard way, so we're going to do that."
Watching Jae, Pippa crossed her arms over her chest. “If we’re doing this the hard way, you’re gonna have to make me.” Like she was going willingly to the detention center? Yeah right. Especially not with Miss Attitude here trying to call the shots. If wanted to be in charge, Pippa was going to make it as difficult as she could.
Jae smiled at that. "Not a problem." she told her. And with that, she moved fast. She'd already thought about how to do it, predicting that Pippa wasn't going to cooperate. But she'd gone back on her own assurance that she'd answer all of her questions. She was very clearly only in this to play games, and Jae wasn't going to entertain her. Which meant detention. And Jae was good at this sort of shit. It wasn't the first time she'd had to handcuff someone who wasn't exactly into it.
So when she did go for things, it was without warning, and she went immediately for shoving Pippa down to her side on the mattress, to avoid anything like injury. She didn't want to hurt her, just cuff her. But it was also likely not the first move people would expect, so she was hoping it took Pippa a second or two to catch up with current events, which should be enough to get at least one wrist done.
Pippa didn't often get caught off her guard here and yet here was Jae, managing to knock her witless for a good few seconds, definitely long enough to get a cuff around one wrist. The fight struck in her and she lashed out, instantly doing her best to pull her uncuffed hand out and push out at Jae. She didn't think the hand would do any real damage or setbacks to this so she swung a leg too, sure that she was anything but graceful just flailing around like this but then again, grace had never been a strong suit of Pippa's.
Expecting a fight, of course, Jae was prepared for the flailing strikes, the first blow landing, though she managed to get her shoulder in it's path more than anything more substantial. With the kick, she took that in the side. Grabbing that leg, she kept it going in the direction she'd wanted in the first place, moving to drop her hip down onto Pippa's midsection. She also had her bradawl out, and was putting it in toward Pippa's neck. "Struggling is a bad idea." she told her, tone icy. "I am better at this than you. You're not going to win here. And continuing to try is just going to wind up with you hurt. I know you like to play games, like to present yourself as some wacky nutjob, but here's my take, princess. If you were that fucking nuts, you'd be in a really small rubber room right now, not here. So, do the smart thing. Stop."
Pippa only ceased flailing with that weird ass screwdriver pressed too close to her neck. "You really think this is the way that you, as a new police officer here, should conduct yourself? Are you seriously going to stab me if I get out of hand? Because that's brutality, sister…" Pippa said, disliking very much being called a princess but right now there was a fucking screwdriver thing near her neck and she was not at all happy about it.
"I think I'd be a fucking moron not to carry something to defend myself against bitches who want to resist even simple questioning, let alone 'arrest'." Jae said. "Works like that out in the real world too. If you resist, well then you might have to be subdued." She took her free hand, and tugged the free cuff toward Pippa's other wrist. "Either way, you're not going to talk yourself out of this. If you'd just cooperated in the first place, we wouldn't be here." She didn’t let up, even for a second.
Pippa wasn't pleased with where she had ended up, both wrists secured behind her back by Jae's cuffs, but here she was. Letting out a long, restricted sigh, glared back at Jae. "Now can you put that thing away? Who the hell carries a fucked up screwdriver anyway, get a better weapon…" It had worked well enough where Pippa was concerned but right now the most she had was verbiage so she might as well use it.
Jae ignored her. She'd chosen her weapon very carefully. It worked well for her here, and it was the first time she'd ever had to pull it. Hauling Pippa up to her feet, she started her toward the door. She didn't say anything, since she was guessing that was why Pippa was insulting her bradawl. She wanted to get a rise out of her. So, she still wasn't playing.
"Oh, so now you shut your mouth? Awesome," Pippa said, laden with sarcasm as she looked back over her shoulder at Jae. She wasn't getting anywhere with this woman apparently, but that wouldn't stop her from trying. "So what, you plan to just throw me in the detention center and assume I'll tell you everything you wanted to hear? I was telling you what you wanted to hear, you just weren't listening!"
Jae still didn't answer. Because Pippa hadn't been. There were specific questions. Pippa had agreed to answer all of her questions. Then, after a single round, she'd automatically stopped again. It was bullshit, and she still wasn't playing. She also wasn't going to rise to Pippa's baiting. It wasn't that hard considering her first bit there made no sense whatsoever. She just kept moving Pippa along, prepared to keep her from doing anything too stupid.
Annoyed, Pippa was starting to feel a little like a trapped rat, backed into a corner. She didn't see a way out of this other than to go to the detention center and she had a few options, but none of them were as enticing as not going to the detention center. She could make it harder for Jae, not speak, not tell her anything she wanted to hear, but if it came to that Pippa was going to need to be behind a closed door first.
Taking a breath, Pippa decided to try and dig. Jae wasn't answering her questions, but maybe Pippa was just asking the wrong ones? "What makes you give a fuck about any of this anyway? Why do you care what other people do or don't do? Why'd you decide you'd be ok with being a cop among criminals?"
Moving Pippa along, Jae continued to ignore her. She could have answered, but she still wasn't giving the girl an inch. Plus, she thought she'd been pretty clear in her resume that got her the job in the first place. Starting to head them down the stairs, Jae was doing her best to keep her guard up, just in case Pippa decided to try and dump one or the both of them down the steps. She wasn't going to let anyone fall.
Jae wasn't saying anything and this situation was wearing on Pippa, fast. That feeling of being trapped wasn't lessening, instead just digging deeper and deeper until it snapped in her. Now was her chance, right here on the stairs, and if she bit the dust while she made her getaway, then so be it. Pippa braced herself, tension in her body giving her away in the moments as she led up to her motion. Then she leaned forward and a split-second later jolted herself back, shoulder trying to knock Jae free with whatever purchase she could gain. Into the stairs, into the wall, anything just to get herself free if she could.
Jae had been waiting for that. Though where Pippa thought she was going, who the hell knew. She moved with her, though, keeping tight hold of the other woman. She then shoved her against the wall, and kept her weight pressed there, not to hurt her, just to immobilize her. "Are you done?"
Great, now she was stuck again and this time in a worst position. "Are you done ignoring me?" Pippa asked, words spiked and terse with anger. "You handcuffed me and are forcing me down to detention, the least you could do is make small talk with me the way there." Which wasn't necessarily why Pippa wanted her to speak so much, but she was using it as the reason.
The questions Pippa asked hadn't been 'small talk'. Also, she didn’t owe her shit. She’d gotten herself into this mess all on her own, Jae didn’t have to cater to her. She'd been deliberately trying to bait her. And Jae still wasn't biting. So she just remained where she was, not giving an inch. "Just let me know when you're done." she said casually.
So lashing out wasn't going to get her anywhere. Why the hell was this woman so strong to begin with, anyway? That was annoying in itself. Pippa had maybe one more chance to get away from this woman before she ended up having to go along to detention for real. So she turned her head as far as she could to get it closer to Jae's face, or honestly whatever was nearest to her own mouth, and in pure grade-school rules she stuck her tongue out in an attempt to lick Jae basically anywhere.
That actually had Jae barking a short little laugh. She didn't say anything, but she found it amusing. She also didn't move. She shifted just enough that Pippa would have to dislocate something to lick her again, and she took the time to wipe spit off of her cheek on the back of Pippa's shoulder. But still. Either way, she'd dealt with oh so much worse from people. Being licked? That was cake.
Pippa was going to need to regroup. She was slowly forcing herself to come to terms with the fact that she was going to be in detention, so she needed to figure out another way to get back at Jae for being a giant bitch. At least detention would give her nothing but time. Rolling her eyes as she felt Jae wipe her face against her shoulder, Pippa turned her head back around to face the wall. "I did tell you that we hit each other and you don't see me pressing charges against Edan here, do you? How is it fair that I'm the only one getting in trouble for this? She was a part of it too."
Jae kept herself just where she was, immobilizing Pippa. They'd had time to have that conversation. Pippa hadn't cooperated. And just because she didn't want to go to Detention now, didn't mean that she was going to let up. And, after a while, this position was going to become too uncomfortable for her to remain in. "Just let me know when you're done." she repeated again.
"You should really think twice about all this," Pippa said carefully, mimicking Jae's tone as best she could though her mind was already racing with thoughts of how to get Jae back for this. Why this woman needed to be involved in what Pippa was doing she just didn't understand. How the hell could someone who was a criminal be such a self righteous cop also? Either way, she was keeping Pippa from her plan. "Why should I even bother telling you anything now if all you're going to do is threaten to stab me with your weird ass screwdriver and probably still throw me in detention anyway? You can't be a cop on the straight and narrow if you're also a criminal."
Jae went back to ignoring Pippa.
Pippa was at a loss for the first time here. And she hated it. Sighing, she shifted her wrists around as best she could in their cuffs and then cleared her throat. "Take me to detention then." She had thinking to do, plans to switch around and form, ideas to cultivate, and she couldn't do them with these damn cuffs on her wrist and this bitch of a woman calling her bluff.
Jae let up on Pippa, though still kept good hold of her, then started yet again to take her down to detention. She planned to go through exactly what she said she was--Pippa was going into a cell, and she'd come back a few hours later to see if her attitude had changed.
