good morning, have some medical stuff
Characters: Violet and Ryan Setting: morning, clinic
Ryan yawned and smoothed his hands back through his damp hair, making it lay flat. He was a little tired from being up so late last night. It didn't really show that much unless you knew where to look on him, though he'd done plenty of late nights with next to no sleep in his past. It had just been awhile since he dealt with it.
He headed on down to the infirmary, knowing Susanna was supposed to get out relatively early. He'd promised her he'd help her back upstairs and get her settled. He'd fetch her breakfast, too, he thought.
After resting at Eric's, Violet knew she'd have to check in at the clinic when she could. So, she snuck down there bright and early, even if she was feeling like she could have snuggled Eric and slept til noon. Going over everything, she looked up when someone entered. She smiled, when she recognized the man from the night before. "Good morning." she greeted. Maybe it was her night with Eric, but she just saw this guy's arrival so early as incredibly sweet.
"Morning," he greeted her. "I told Susanna that I'd come help her up to her room and everything. Be her cabana boy while she heals and all," he said, smiling in a charming manner. He knew it looked good for him, though that was far from his only motivation for once. He needed an ally in this place, and her being dead wouldn't serve him at all.
"That's very nice of you." she told him. "Do you think you'll be helping her with wound care?" she asked. "If so, I have some information for you. If not, I can always be dropping by, or Cal can." She didn't include Becka, just because she didn't want her to have any extra responsibilities just now. If she wanted some, awesome. But at no point was she going to be demanding anything from her.
Ryan nodded. "I figured I would. I want her to get well as quickly as possible. Besides, it'd probably be nicer for her to not have to go back down here every day. What would I have to do to help her out?" he asked. Wound care was rather a new thing for him. He was rarely responsible for that kind of thing.
“Oh, I wouldn’t make her come back down here. I would have gone to her.” Violet said, not having expected anyone with a stabbing wound to go anywhere they didn’t have to. “But either way, if you’re going to be caring for her, then I can put together supplies for you, so you don’t have to be running around looking for anything either.” she offered with a smile. “As for the actual duties, keeping the wound clean and dry is important.” she said. “Make sure she doesn’t jar it, no strenuous physical activity for a little while,” she said as she gathered the supplies he would need. “Beyond that, make sure she’s hydrated, that she takes her pain medication and that if the area becomes inflamed or starts looking pussy, that she contact us immediately. I imagine we’ll be checking up on her anyhow, but there’s those few things you can do to help without our supervision. From what I understand, the wound was shallow enough that she didn’t have any internal injuries, so yay for that.”
Ryan nodded. It was good to know. At least they had seemingly competent people around, though he was wondering where Becka was lurking, since he had yet to see her, and he'd been down here a lot since yesterday. Probably holed up in her room, he figured, though he had had hopes of seeing her down here. "I'd be happy to take a bundle of supplies for her. I've never had to do much with taking care of someone wounded like this, but I think I can handle it well enough," he told her easily. The only unfortunate thing he was hearing was the lack of strenuous physical activity--likely they'd have to keep things in the bedroom tame until she was more healed. Unfortunate, but he'd manage, or make himself manage. "I think I can do that, though she can still shower and all, can't she?" he asked, wanting to touch on all the pertinent bases." He nodded fervently at her positive feelings toward the injury not being too bad.
"She can, but you'll need to tape up the area with plastic wrap beforehand, to keep it dry." Violet said. "Annoying, but necessary, though it won't be that long before it'll be alright to not take that precaution." She gave him an encouraging smile. "Without unforseen complications, she should be feeling better soon. Then after most of the danger is out of the way, she'll need to gauge how well she feels."
"Do we have some suitable plastic? Like from bags, or?" he asked. He knew people wore plastic bags over casts, but he figured they might have a better alternative. He was pretty sure she'd want to get clean pretty soon. Like him, she seemed to like being clean most of the time. He didn't know if it was a thing, or just a coincidence. "That's good. I'm really relieved. It could have been so much worse."
Violet smiled. "I said plastic wrap--like saran wrap? Cellophane?" she said. "It doesn't have to be thick, just so long as it's secure, that's all. Nothing to worry about." she promised. "If you want help, I can come to her room and show you when she's ready." she offered, happy to do so. Anything to help, really. "And yeah, me too. It could have been devastating." she said. "But! It wasn't, and she's in good hands!" she said brightly.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't catch that," he apologized. "Sorry, I didn't get enough sleep last night." And normally he slept well. He needed to pay better attention. They couldn't afford to be down on their game right now. "Nah, plastic wrap, I got ya. I can get some of it and figure it out for her." Besides, that might be fun, even if they had to keep the 'funtimes' gentle right now. And eesh, what a bright and cheery person. Even moreso than Becka had been. He smiled warmly, though. "And thank goodness for that, ma'am, and I'm mighty grateful for your help in these matters, and for you takin' such good care of her."
“Oh you have every right to be a little fuzzy this morning.” Violet assured him. Hell, she sort of wondered how he was functioning at this point. Poor guy. “I hope there’s coffee in your future. And you’re welcome.” she said, looking touched at the sentiment. “I do my best. Anyway, I’ll let you get in there, I’m sure she’ll be happy to see a familiar face.”
"There is definitely coffee in my future, and breakfast for us both," Ryan said fervently. Coffee would definitely be his friend today. "You should make sure to get a good meal or two in today as well." Maybe he'd drop something by for whoever was down here; show his 'gratitude' in a kind action. "Thank you. I'll see you later," he told her with a warm smile, nodding his head for lack of his hat and going back to where Susanna would be.
