She grinned, not quite out of breath yet, at his nod of approval, her focus going back to the exercises at hand. This was more fun than doing it alone like she had planned on; the challenge presented by another person was an undeniable spur for her. While not cutthroat, she did have a little competitive streak--she'd always been ambitious.
"'kay," she said, and huffed a breathless laugh at his little joke. "No.. wide doe eyes here," she agreed, keeping count in her head... eight... nine... ten...
She stopped, shifting her weight from leg to leg as she breathed harder, continuing to move so she wouldn't stiffen up immediately. After another moment she placed her hands on her knees, leaning over slightly and drawing in more air, feeling her heartbeat come into more control. "Thank you," she said, enjoying the compliment. "I tried to keep up a bit, but it's not exactly.. encouraged to practice things that could be fighting." Her lips curved into a rueful smile.
