Carmel chuckled softly to herself as Meg dug in. She took it completely as a compliment that the woman applied herself so single-mindedly to the food, rather than any kind of snub. She stirred the gravy and cleaned the counters, humming tunelessly under her breath.
The blunt words were a surprise, but it didn't really throw Carmel off. She'd always been open about what happened to her, and she didn't see a need to shy away from it, though it was unlikely she'd go into great detail with just anyone. "I did, yeah. He deserved it." She trusted Dominic as much as she trusted anyone she barely knew, but she wasn't surprised or betrayed that he'd told Meg. Not that it was a secret, though.
