"Look, Adam, it's all good here man. No judgments," Cal offered quickly as he watched the younger man retreat in on himself. "I gotta ask because if it was more serious, we'd have a different set of risk factors to sweat over. But no needles, and only a touch or two of the harder stuff? We're good, promise." Between him and Matt, it seemed like a few of the people here had been kids who just made a mistake and lost their lives for it.
That had always bothered Cal during his work with prisoners; how quickly the penal system could chew up decent people and either spit out vicious men or swallow them entirely. "But obviously steer clear of that stuff, y'know? Coke and Ecstasy both have adverse effects on heart rate and brain chemical levels, so just keep doin' like you have been and you'll be okay.
