This assumption that in a game, a woman only contacts a man because she wants to get in his pants is really bullshit. I know that it does happen, but there are those of us who just want the women we play to have friends and there be nothing more to that.

	Yeah, exactly. It's so easy to get discouraged at the very beginning and not want to engage at all. Even in the plotting stages, I find myself constantly adding a disclaimer that I am looking for something platonic. I hope it works out for you though. It's also the feeling that you're being too much by trying to interact, or that you have to tip toe through anything with male characters because you're afraid they'll think they're being chased after, etc. And yes, it is...I've been able to have some great interaction but it's also gotten frustrating when the interaction dies down because it's assumed after a few really solid conversations that 'maybe they're after something.'

	This. The misogyny on this server is out of control at times as well as the shipping possessiveness. The amount of times people react toward my female characters 'IC' by immediately disliking them because they think their ship is in danger is mind boggling. I. Just. Want. Interaction. And. Lines. And the thing that stumps me is, most of the players on this server....ARE WOMEN. And I've experienced the same thing several times. I don't go into games thinking I'll get a romantic sl ever. I enjoy friendship lines so much more, and it's why those are the ones I go for above all else. I'm just tired of it. And tired of it being okay for one person to continually do the same thing to several people, and it coming back to the person it was done to as if it was their fault.

	Exactly. I don't know if it's internalized misogyny seeping through or projection, but it's gross. Yes, please, enjoy your ships, but don't ostracize and bully and person and their characters because you feel threatened by it. My God, it's fiction. 	In a roundabout way, I feel like it's line crossing especially if there's not a storyline between two characters and all it is is a ship of some sorts. It's ridiculous to me. This is supposed to be an escape from real life, and if we're all paying attention to what's happening in the world...we ALL need that. This shouldn't be stressful. (Reply to this) (Parent)

There's a lot of the same mentality when it comes to slash characters as well. I often find that a lot of people don't even want friendship lines or much of anything outside a romantic relationship, family and maybe a few friends. It's very frustrating, especially when joining a new game and your character is going out of their way to interact with as many people is possible.

It's even worse if you try to interact with someone who already has a significant other. They assume you want to get in their pants and/or get jealous. It's ridiculous. It can make one feel unwelcomed and want to give up.

	Or they don't believe you just want friendship lines and nothing more, so you get the short end of the stick. It's just a struggle and it shouldn't be that way. It's much easier writing male characters. Yes, and that you're trying to ruin a storyline when it's not the case. And there ARE people that do that, but you happen to not be that person that would. That's honestly why I prefer adult games at this point. In almost every SOL game I've ever been it, it feels like the first person who talks to your character or goes on a date with them is going to be the one they're with forever whether you want that or not cause no one is interested in anything else. But in an NC17 game where everyone is just banging whoever? I've had better friend lines, better character development, and better relationships for my characters than anywhere else.

	Yeah. They're the only games I'll play in nowadays really. It's like...once you remove the stigma of not only wanting to write the sex, it stops being the be all end all of the line. It's no longer a race to see who can lock someone down to hook up with. You can just write. (Reply to this) (Parent)
