I go in to answering every inquiry that could lead to a partnership with the expectation that it won't work out, and I'm okay with that. In the off chance that I make a request myself, I know I probably won't get any inquiries, and I'm okay with that, too. But I also know that, if I say "hey, I'm looking for someone who might be interested in X" and someone does bite, I at least offer them the courtesy to consider their offer and respond to them. Why does it seem like being respectful of someone else's time is something that people just can't do?
Or maybe I'm the weird one who appreciates being told that I'm just not what someone is looking for, and most would just prefer to be ignored? Damn my desire for closure.
