Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)
■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.
When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

Alright, so Checkvist is a pretty neat organizational tool that you can create, build, and maintain almost exclusively through keyboard shortcuts. It'll probably appeal to those who don't like the (sometimes) high maintenance of thread trackers, or those who don't need all the aesthetic bells and whistles of a thread tracker. OR you could be a geek like me and just like making outlines.

First things first. Checkvist is free to sign up for and free to use. They do, however, have a paid option for a Pro account where you get some additional perks for $9.9* a month per person or a yearly option of $39. You also have the option of trying out their Pro features with a 14-day free trial. But, between you and me, for RP and simple outline and list purposes, the free account is more than enough.

How do I get started?
Once you're all signed up, you'll find yourself on the main page with no lists. To make a list, simply click the button and you can get started by giving your list a name. Example: Game Name, where Game Name is the name of the game you RP in. <-- That was a bit of a tongue twister, eh? Once you've got a name typed in, hit Enter and voila! You've started your list.

Ok, now what?
At this point you can simply just start typing and hitting enter as you go and when you've got your list created, you can start formatting and styling it (to a point). As you can see below, you're able to indent items on your list.

To achieve this, simply hit the Tab key on your keyboard. Easy peasy, right? Of course it is. But, Erin, how did you get it to be a numbered list? So glad you asked, my friend, because that's pretty easy to do, too! You have three list styles to choose from when you type oo on your keyboard to bring up the Options menu. Next to List Styles, choose the one you want (I chose 1.1 Numbers). The other options will refer to what you want to happen once you've completed a task on your list.

How do I mark a task as completed?
It's pretty simple, just hit the Spacebar on your keyboard and it'll strike out the task. Hit it again if you want to mark the task as incomplete.

Is there anything else I can do?
There is a lot you can do such as make text bold (Ctrl+B or bb), italic (Ctrl+I or ii), and you can even create a link out of your task, which is pretty much my favorite feature of this whole thing. To do that, make sure you're editing your task (ee), then hit Ctrl+K on your keyboard. Grab a link to your thread, input the URL, and hit Enter and then hit Enter again. Congrats! You've made a link to your thread.

For RP purposes, that's pretty much it. There are other things you can do like share your list, etc. If you ever need a refresher on which shortcuts to use, press Shft+? on your keyboard for a list. There is also the option of having the hints sidebar viewable that showcases the most common shortcuts to use; Just click on the button and click on "Show hints sidebar."

Let me know if you found this little walkthrough helpful and I hope that this organizational tool is beneficial to you as well!

*The $9.9 is directly lifted from the main content of their pricing page, but they also have a bigger, off-to-the-side thing that says $3.9. So if this is something you think you'll do, you might want to contact the creators before you go spending your money to see what the actual price is per month.
