Lily snorted and turned a page of her book with a little more gusto than was necessary. Things had changed. "You don't say," She remarked with a tone of derision. Things certainly had changed for them all. The most notable change in Lily's life was the death of her parents earlier that year, but she had a feeling he meant something else. Lily took this as a clue that Severus had changed for the worst, and that he had done that which she had hoped he wouldn't.
Drumming her fingers on the table, Lily pondered this choice Severus presumably made. Her eyes left the book and fixed on Severus, giving him her most piercing gaze. "Tell me, Severus," She said, her words clipped, "There's no one else here, so just tell me. These changes – are you proud of them? Are you happy with the choices you've made these past few years?"
Lily stopped drumming her fingers and tore her hand through her hair roughly. She took no pleasure in being mean, and she was usually only hard on those people she considered to be her closest friends when they were acting in a less than becoming fashion. Perhaps it was some left over feeling that spawned from their previous friendship, but Lily was so profoundly disappointed in Severus that it made it almost unbearable for her to be in the same room as him.
"I hope you're proud of yourself," She spat, glaring at him, "Because I'm not."
