Public outcry against the acts perpetrated by the organization known as the 'Friends of Humanity' allowed several laws to be passed in favor of mutant rights. That was more than a decade ago, in that time the realm of politics has come to an impasse. Amidst the political stalemate there was a heavy push by many parents to have mutant children removed from the school systems. The Xavier Institute could no longer provide the necessary facilities for so many mutants, adult and child alike. Ororo Munroe, the new head of the Institute, and Hank McCoy went before the Senate and House and asked that a second school be funded on the West Coast. Senator Raymond F. Donaldson, a democrat from California and the first mutant on the senate, helped to push the funding through. Thus the Xavier Memorial Institute was born.
XMI is an AU X-men game set in modern day California. It is meant to be a place where OCs may flourish, new stories can be written and those who have moved to the west coast may begin again. The school grounds, commonly referred to as Mutant Island, house both a high school and a university as well as a training facility. It is also the facility which houses the mutant team Legacy. The game is open to mutants age 16+, canon and original characters are both welcome. The game hopes to combine the social and political aspects of life as a mutant with the dangers that come from living in a world where humans, mutants, and things only classified as 'other' coexist.
Game Opened August 21st. Contact Information: Email or PM through this journal.

“ . . . All that was left in Pandora’s box was hope.” Humanity believed itself to be alone, but in the 21st century it discovered otherwise. A global pandemic swept over the world and decimated the population. Due to its devastating nature, they dubbed it the “Pandora virus.” Biological terrorism was blamed, and nation stood against nation as a worldwide war began. The earth was laid to waste in just a handful of months by nuclear war and the Pandora virus. War revealed an ancient secret, though. Humans were not alone. Other creatures inhabited this planet along with them, hiding in the shadows for centuries. Praeternaturals, they were — supernatural beings believed to be nothing more than myth, but they were very real.
The upper-hand belonged to the praeternaturals. They possessed biological immunity to the Pandora virus and learned of what was to come through the oracle, Euryale. They built safe havens across the world, taking in as many humans and praeternaturals as possible before the war. One such safe haven is an ancient land once inhabited by life, but abandoned by it long ago, and renovated into a sanctuary. They call it Elysium. Located in the modern-day Republic of Macedonia near Lake Ohrid, it was once a part of Greece. Along with the rest of the havens, it provided a stable living environment for the survival of all species, and for months the peace has been kept.
All of that is about to change. Something dark has amassed upon the horizon, drawing ever closer to the haven of Elysium. Things were left behind in the wastelands beyond the havens that neither the war nor Pandora has managed to destroy. Even now, it crosses the ocean. Eventually, it will reach Elysium and come knocking on the haven’s door — and the perfect world the haven has built will go crumbling to the ground.
Welcome to Elysium. We promise you’ll be safe. |

Halloween at Godric's Hollow changed the course of history -- a savior was slain in his crib, and a Dark Lord rose to great and lasting power.
Headmistress Umbridge has been murdered, Hogwarts closed indefinitely. Werewolf attacks are on the rise, children taken from loving homes because one parent is a werewolf. St. Mungo's is as much a place of torture as of healing as new and better ways of killing are researched. Traitors hide under the banners they chose, while madmen lead the way. The Order is weak, though mobilizing. Some have lost hope in them, while others strive to resurrect the Phoenix.
No one knows what the future will hold.
The world is different. There is no Boy Who Lived to save you. ------------------------------------------------------ |
------------------------------------------------------ This game is over a year old and extremely active. We are looking for dedicated, imaginative players with the time and inclination to help further develop existing plots and help create entirely new ones. Applications are open.
