[04 Oct 2009|12:56pm] The mutant gene popped up unexpectedly in 1999 though some would argue it began in 2000. For a while, maybe a year or so this had gone unnoticed but it was only for so long that something so spectacular could go unnoticed. It was in Wisconsin a boy by the name of Sammy Johnson had been spotted flying above his house by one of his neighbors. Immediately the neighbor had done the most logical thing she could do, inform the police. The police investigated, but the boy (and his parents) could not prove anything about this supposed ability of flight. Then, not even a week later a girl was caught turning invisible, another girl was creating acidic poisons with her hands and a newly wed couple was controlling and creating fire. Naturally, the Government had to get involved. They'd gone to these homes and these families to question them about their abilities, and after much deliberating and time the first mutant hospital was created in 2002. Immediately these people were shipped away to the hospital for testing. The term "mutant" had been coined and was quickly applied to anybody who possessed powers. With the knowledge of these mutants out, the human race was now growing to understand the real term of fear. Entering a meeting of the Wizengamot to urge that the wizarding world go public, Harry Potter is assassinated in June of 2007, ten years to the day after Dumbledore died. His killer, a Muggleborn witch, tells authorities that she was not willing to accept a world in which Muggles would have been enslaved to wizards. In the ensuing anti-Muggleborn riots, eventually called the Summer of Rage, persons unknown set off a charm bomb widely assumed to be more powerful than they’d intended. The thought that they knew how powerful it would be and set it off anyway does not bear considering. The United Kingdom is cut off from the outside world. The islands are about to be encircled by the ghosts of soldiers – who watch, and who wait, and who sometimes kill. No one has left Albion’s islands since the charm bomb dropped. Exodus [04 Oct 2009|08:16pm] "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not...and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survive..."-The Prophecy Our story begins as 1980 dies, as the final year of the first war against Voldemort is underway. Lord Voldemort and his followers strike fear into the hearts of all. Giants and werewolves serve the Dark Lord, doing his bidding. The Death Eaters roam free, killing Mudbloods, Muggles, and Blood Traitors as they please. Hundreds have died and disappeared. As each day passes, the resistance grows weaker. Voldemort seems to be invincible and all hope is lost. That is until a Prophecy was made; a child with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies to those who have thrice defied him and with a power that the Dark Lord will not understand. This child would bring an end to Voldemort’s reign. And so the Dark Lord set out to kill this child before he can grow into a threat. The problem lay in discovering the child, for two couples who had twice defied the Dark Lord were expecting children, both due in July. In order to seek the answer, Lord Voldemort kidnapped the Unspeakable assigned to the Prophecy, assuming that there he would find the truth, but the Dark Lord did not expect Marlene McKinnon to be brave enough to deceive him. How could a child born to either the Potters or the Longbottoms be the supposed Prophecy child when their parents had only defied him twice? And the probability of them doing it a third time was inconceivable, who would be foolish enough to defy the Dark Lord that many times? She insisted that a wizard as great as he was, was foolish to waste his time on the silly words of a false seer; she believed the prophecy was false. With that lie, the children remained momentarily safe with their parents none the wiser to the fate that potentially awaited their children. Until the night of the Autumn Equinox; Halloween, 1980, when Lily and James Potter will once again defy the Dark Lord Voldemort and make the Prophecy a reality. Now the Dark Lord hunts for the couple and their son, his focus distracted from his original goal of ridding the world of those whom he found to be unworthy; all that matters now was his immortality. This leaves room for the resistance to grow stronger. And just as it seems that there is no hope for the Potters to come out of this alive, Alice and Frank Longbottom thrice defy Voldemort, sending them into hiding as well. The fate of the Wizarding World lies in the hands of two small infants and a group of vigilantes working for Dumbledore. How can they stand a chance against Voldemort and all of his forces? It’s time to find out. Exodus is a canon compliant RPG set in the Era of the Marauders, which follows the lives of James and Lily Potter, Frank and Alice Longbottom, the Order of the Phoenix, the Dark Lord Voldemort, and his Death Eaters during the final year of the war. pacific coast academy for witches and wizards in training; [04 Oct 2009|10:56pm] Premise & Cast List & Pacific Coast Academy Rules & Application & Game Directory                                                                             It's 2009 and while all is not well with the world, the young witches and wizards in America are more concerned with passing their classes than international politics. The second Great War has been over in the United Kingdom for ten years and even though the battle between Harry Potter and the Dark Lord Voldemort is an important part of any American wizard's History of Magic class, it is not given much thought beyond that. Yes, blood purism is wrong; yes, there will always be bigots out there; hey- isn't there a quodpot match this afternoon? While the wizarding youth of America are more worried about pimples and passing their classes, their parents are keeping a concerned ear turned to the news that a group of well-respected muggles are claiming to now possess magical powers. These aren't the typical muggle who believes they are magically inclined- these are CEOs, politicians and community leaders. Is this all a hoax, are these people really developing latent magical abilities, or is someone else pulling their strings?
