[13 Aug 2009|01:26pm] [THE NAMELESS CITY] Welcome to the Nameless city, the cornerstone of the universe where all manner people of meet, live, love, laugh, cry and die. It is a modern city, similar to any seen in the 21st century with skyscrapers, metro systems, companies, homes, schools, and most important of all, people. [EXPLANATION] Nameless city is a panfandom rpg set in a fictional city called Nameless. As stated above, it is the corner stone of the universe. Literally, it exists in every fandom universe and connects them all together. If your character is from is from futuristic world, Nameless might be considered a quaint old fashioned city; if your character is from the past then Nameless would be consider a great advanced metropolis; and if they’re from the present, it’s just like any other city with a bunch of freaks in it. But how did your character come to this city? That depends on whether they’re alive or dead in their home universe. If they’re alive, they chose to come here for a reason, a reason that is up to you. Did they just want to get away from their old world? Did they need to start again? Did they get a new job? Or did they just feel like a change of scenery? It’s up to you. Now, if the character is dead that’s a different matter. They arrived in Nameless shortly after they died and woke up in an apartment building nicknamed the Crypt. How they came to be there and who is responsible is a mystery. But the Large Hadron Collider didn’t destroy the world. No, it did the exact opposite: it opened our world. September 10, 2008, was when it all started, when scientists executed the Large Hadron Collider and They started showing up. They came unexpectedly, in small numbers, sometimes in larger ones. They claimed to be from somewhere else, somewhere magical or mundane, far or near. Somewhere else. Somewhere other than our world. Nine days later, the Collider broke. The people though, they remained. No one else came through, but the ones who had stayed. Ever since then, the government has been rounding them up whenever they can find them. There are questions, maybe even a few experiments, but for the most part, these people just sit around and wait. For what? For when the Collider comes back online this October. Aside from ipods and mp3 players, they're the latest talked about thing and you've just gotta get that brand spanking new Blackberry that came out or you'll feel outed from your friends. Oh, how ingrained they are in society and our everyday lives that it's almost second nature to have one attached at the ear or hiding inside the pocket of your jeans. People have grown so used to them that they whip them out in the middle of dinner, and the person across from them does the same thing -- it's barely noticed when someone uses them during social events either. You trust them like the technological best-friend you never had, you freak out when you lose them, and can't handle being without it. It's odd the way this little compact device sways our lives. Do you trust your phone? You must if you spend more time with it than other people. Maybe, you should trust it less. Like millions of users you wouldn't think twice of the horror they could release upon you, that it could ever betray you. But that's what the world is about to find out. While the US struggles with civil war and pestilence, Britain stands among the least worse-off states. Norsefire, a fascist party led by the charismatic Adam Sutler, has risen as the ruling power, reducing competing political groups to figureheads paying lip-service to the doctrine of the current government. Society is the state and the state is society. Through twenty-five years of totalitarian rule, Britain has learned to appreciate the value of what they've been given. Without strong leadership, they would perish... or so advertises the government-controlled media through government-controlled channels. Most God-fearing, law-abiding citizens have long learned the art of double-think. Accepting without question is second nature. Yet there are those who refuse to toe the party line. Anarchists inspired by the ideas of Mikhail Bakunin, believe that the old society has to be torn down before a new one can be built upon its ruins. Justice, they hold, is meaningless without freedom. Their tactics aim to humiliate and ridicule the fascist regime to destabilize it. Their methods are erratic and their impact difficult to predict, but they are there and they are growing harder and harder to hide from the public. A new political and media campaign is about to be introduced, this time targeting home-grown terrorists who would strike against the state. Three targets have been chosen to maximize the effect of the attack: a school, a tube station, and a water-treatment plant. Hundreds could die within the next few weeks. Political upheavals could be nipped in the bud - or they could flourish and thrive like maggots upon an open wound. No matter the outcome, the true genius of the plan is the fear: a year from now, ten, the ultimate tool of the government could be written as the very thing that lit the powderkeg.
