Quadrivium [08 May 2009|11:29am]

Currently Casting | Casting Studio | Application | Rules | Quadrivium RPG

“The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.” –J.R.R. Tolkien

Halloween, 1981, the Dark Lord Voldemort fell at the hands of one-year old Harry Potter, bringing an end to a decade long reign of terror, to the relief of the entire Wizarding World. Death Eaters were imprisoned, wounds healed, and the Wizarding World spent the next decade healing from the pain of the first war. Yet, Voldemort was not truly defeated that night. He will rise once more, bringing upon another viscous war upon the Wizarding World.

Everyone knows the story of Harry Potter, but until now, the story of what happened in between has been unknown.

It is 1990, the year before Harry Potter will discover he is a Wizard. Professor Quirrell is off to Albania where he will become a vessel for the weakened Dark Lord, Charlie Weasley and his friends are in their sixth-year at Hogwarts, and the foundation for the future is being paved.

They are at a crossroads, the road behind them broken and wilting. The road ahead lies a mystery, which paths will they chose? Who will they become? Only one thing is certain; they must continue on.

Quadrivium is a canon compliant Harry Potter Interim Era game taking place in 1990. Game opens May 09, 2009.

Most Wanted: Cedric Diggory, Marcus Flint, Hestia Jones, Terrence Higgs, Remus Lupin, Quirinus Quirrell, Andromeda and Ted Tonks, Sybill Trelawney, Bill, Percy, and Charlie Weasley, Oliver Wood, and many others!

The Miniser of Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt invites you to join a celebration of that victory in Rosebud Park. Live music, good food and fireworks! (Fireworks provided by Weasley Wizard Wheezes--please use caution.) However, all is not safe as the leader of the band of thieves that has been terrorizing Diagon Alley for much of the month of April makes his final, desperate move after his associates have all been imprisoned. Will everyone make it out alive? Join today to find out!

Later this month The Daily Prophet is proud to announce that their popular Ask A Witch column is back. Have a question, well Mabel Merriweather has the answer. From boyfriend troubles to dying plants to how to get rid of a pesky poltergeist, Mabel's wise advice will lead you in the right direction. Or not. Submit your question by owl today, and every Wednesday tune in for her answers!

Opening May 14th: An exciting new dance club, Number 9 will be situated on Diagon Alley between Quality Quidditch Supplies and Owain's Grocers. Owned and operated by Krystal Kartwright, Number 9 plans to celebrate their Grand Opening with a little something extra. For one night only drinks will be free of charge, just pay a low cover charge and the rest is covered. Weird Sisters to perform!

Plus much more planned for the month of May, including weekly challenge threads designed to amp up character activity and provide fun, interesting mini-plots to build the game.

Game Background

It's 2003 and the Wizarding World has come a long way since the Final Battle. Death Eaters have been tried and dealt with fairly under the watchful eye of the new Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt and a reformed Wizengamot. Diagon Alley and Hogwarts have been rebuilt. Slowly the magical community has rebuilt and healed from the destruction of Voldemort's reign. Most characters make their home within Diagon Alley as new flats and residences have opened their doors.

Most Wanted Characters:

Bill, Ginny Percy, & Fleur Weasley
Parvati Patil
Oliver Wood
Aurors, Ministry professionals, Quidditch players
Hufflepuffs & Slytherins

Our Game & Players

Charing Cross is a unique game where each month a new plot is presented for the characters. Much like real life the characters must react to current events as well as manage their personal relationships. Our hope is that through these small, short-lived plots players will take the opportunity to develop their characters and relationships with other players. We also encourage small group plots, such as book clubs, bowling leagues and writer's circles among many others.

Charing Cross has a small group of dedicated, talented creative writers who are hopeful for new friends. We're looking for equally dedicated writers who want to experience a slightly different RPG experience. The mods are friendly and easy-going and encourage player input. We're looking for players who bring something slightly different to the table as well, with fresh, exciting characters. There are plenty of interactive experiences just waiting to happen, so give us a chance and we think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Future Plot

Don't worry -- when the current plot ends the game won't stop! The mods are busy developing the next bit of action and whatever it is -- We promise it will be EPIC! Previous plots have included gender swaps, masquerade balls and karaoke nights. We encourage player input into what they'd like to see next, and there's even a portion of the application where prospective players can have their say.

An Ill Wind

An Ill Wind RPG
An Alternate Universe, Marauders Era, Post-Warts Game

It's 1980, and as the first war escalades out of control, history is changing. Severus Snape did not overhear the original prophecy, but Rita Skeeter did. Millicent Bagnold is dead, and Rodolphus Lestrange is Minister for Magic. Regulus Black has not discovered Voldemort's use of horcruxes, and without an ominous threat against his immortality, Voldemort is focusing on taking control of all aspects of magical life. He is planning the eradication of Dumbledore's Order of the Phoenix. Purist ideology is slowly taking over wizarding culture and influencing the choices of those fleeing the country, those abandoning their society masks, and those making a call to arms.

An ill wind is blowing nobody any good.

Pentamerone - a fairy tale and folklore game on Inksome! [08 May 2009|02:18pm]
What happens after Happily Ever After?

Heroes and villains alike seek someplace to exist before they fade from existence. Others search for a way home, not sure if there's a home left to go to. Pentamerone is the last stronghold of human imagination. The hundreds of magical lands and worlds that used to exist in the minds of children are now in a state of decay. Pentamerone is a world of mystery, of new places to be explored, and full of new people to meet. It looks idyllic, peaceful, welcoming. But only one thing's certain:

Once you cross its borders,
you can never return home again.

Only the strong survive.

In its inception, the Durmstrang Institute accepted all promising students who had magical aptitude. However, the rise of the wizard Grindelwald and increasing tensions between the social classes resulted in the expulsion of any non-pureblooded students. Now, known Muggleborns and halfbloods are no longer accepted, and the school is known for pureblooded wizards, study of Dark Arts, rigid social classes, and tradition.

Students that graduate from Durmstrang are the most talented, the strongest, the brightest, and the best. Stakes are high, and not all students will succeed. Some may never make it to graduation. Are you strong enough to survive?

Premise The seals weren’t opened. Lilith was stopped. We won the war, but barely. Was it even considered a win? With all the blood that was shed and all the lives that were lost? What did we gain? Nothing; nothing but the fact that our head is still attached to our necks. The world is back to normal, and by normal meaning that it isn’t completely messed up; only most of it. While Dean and Sam had brought Lilith back to hell, demons still roam the earth. Vampires, even if considered a legend, still are in the back of the minds of hunters. The supernatural still lurk your room. So what have we stopped? All this becoming 10x worse. It’s back to the good ol’days where hunters only have to worry about demons, vampires, and witches, rather than the Apocalypse coming.

But there is a place where hunters can rest; the Roadhouse located in Nebraska. A retired hunter by the name of Christian Armstrong rebuilt the place where hunters could take refuge after a long days work. Hunters can talk about how a demon ruined their car, abot how a witch hexed their partner, about how a goddamn leprechaun stole their wallet… you know, the usual types of conversations.

About. The Hunt is based on the CW Series, Supernatural. It takes place after season four, when Sam and Dean have stopped Lilith and brought her back to hell. While it follows all the events up to now (which was the episode BEFORE the finale), this game follows an AU path. Both characters from the series and original characters are accepted.

First adds will be on June 7th.

When the Others came out to the world in 2003, the humans weren’t quite sure what to think. Suddenly, they weren’t alone in the world; they were no longer the most dominant species on the planet, though they still far outnumbered those with remarkable, unbelievable gifts. Werecreatures began to show themselves all around the globe, transforming in plain sight for all to see, the vampires not far behind. It didn’t take long for the remaining, mortal population to divide; some wanted to be like those they came to call Others, wanted into their worlds, some feared them and made their voices heard. Some refused to believe the revelation, even after it swept the media, printed in black and white and flashed across news bulletins worldwide.

It didn’t take long for the humans to realise there were too many of them to just ignore. Tensions mounted, worried parents wondering if their children were safe with the ‘offspring’ of Others in the same schools as their precious boys and girls. Word quickly spread when a small handful of powerful politicians and one or two influential leaders came out to the world, announcing what they were. The Others were everywhere.

Slowly but surely, everything began to ease; the humans started to settle, and following their example, those who had come clean relaxed, assured that their lives were not in danger. Time passed, and the Others began to pop up in every walk of life; musicians, teachers, store clerks, newsreaders. They really were everywhere.

And yet, hidden among their own kind, those who were not quite supernatural and not quite normal hesitated on the threshold, on the verge of announcing themselves. Others were already treated warily, even five years down the line, but how would mortals react to their own kind being Gifted? Able to read thoughts undetected and burn strong buildings to the ground without accelerant or matches, the Gifted knew they would be feared perhaps even more than those able to shift into animals or drain the blood from mortals. So they lie in wait, keeping their powers hidden, waiting and watching, to see how the first chapter ends.

Because if history has taught us anything, it is that division never truly goes away, and sooner or later, the shaky balance will be torn apart.
