Time portals have existed all over the Earth since the world was created: in the Caribbean, the Northeast near Canada, the American southwest in Arizona and Mexico, the British Isles to the French coast, and down in the Iberian peninsula. Those lucky few who found the time travel portals transporting them to 2021 arrive from different centuries and walk into our world through a humble-looking wooden door in a popular gay nightclub - Club Fortuna.
With no modern currency in their pockets, some choose to work at Club Fortuna or at the Lighthouse Inn where many locals also live.

For centuries supernatural beings have lived among us, unseen and unheard by ordinary humans. Witches, vampires, werewolves, people who can read your mind or shift into beasts—all of them living in the shadow world right in our midst. They have their own schools and markets, an entire way of living hidden from the humans, protected by that which they call the Veil.
But when a family of witches is ruthlessly destroyed overnight, the Veil is disrupted—the powers that once formed the bedrock of its magical foundations shaken to the core, unstable and prone to sudden disruptions and flares of wild magical energy with unimaginable destructive power.
Now all of the supernatural world has to come together to figure it all out or risk certain exposure and the dire consequences that come with that. Because something wicked this way comes.

According to tradition, purgatory is supposedly a plane of suffering temporarily populated by the souls of the dead who are atoning their sins before going to heaven, or perhaps where wicked souls wallow in their iniquity before being sent to hell. In recent decades, however, the powers of purgatory have become concerned that they are little more than a pitstop along the way to hell. It wasn't long before a decision was made: to balance the number of souls they sent on to heaven and hell, purgatory would increase their reach. Now, not only are those who belong to other faiths being pulled into purgatory, but also the living and the immortal.

Characters are allowed to move freely from their world to the titular Bar At The End Of The Universe through doors - which on their side of the door might be anything from a porthole to a hole in the ground, and from there can either willingly move back and forth between worlds, stay upstairs at the Bar's inn or be "Bound" or trapped at Milliways without an escape hatch back for any length of time.

On January 1, 1920 a war came to an end. While the world was consumed with the Great War, many weren't aware of another war happening within it. Magical beings were being persecuted by the non-magical. The magical world was being burned to the ground and their retaliation was decimating the non-magical public. The Great Treaty was signed on December 25, 1919 after years of death on both sides. The non-magical agreed to no longer hunt or kill any magical being, even under the cover of religion. But their armistice came with a heavy price. Magical people and creatures would have their powers bound for 100 years. The Magical world, having a different concept of time and a healthy amount of self preservation, agreed in order to prevent their kind from being killed.
The powers were bound on January 1, 1920. And quickly, magic once again became a fairy tale. Four generations of magical people and creatures were born without knowing their powers. The first generation may have believed their parents' stories, but by the fourth… well who is going to believe that they were really a vampire or a witch? A siren might have a gorgeous voice and come from a family of talented singers, but what did that prove? Only The Council knew the truth. A group of six magical beings entrusted with the history of the magical world. These were the only six magical beings in the world who still had their powers.
People had all but forgotten the Great Treaty. On January 1, 2020, the binding ended. The Council had been preparing for the influx of magic, but there was no way to prepare for what was to come. One hundred years of magical beings breeding and marrying non-magical people had resulted into thousands and thousands of magical creatures, people, half-breeds, and hybrids. The magical world was coming to life rapidly and there was no way to control it.
Factions began to form almost immediately. Groups squabbled for power, for understanding, for knowledge. All magical beings were able to enter the library and gather as much information as they could. Families are being torn apart as natural enemies choose sides. Lesser beings are learning that they must serve more powerful beings to remain safe. And everyone, good or bad, human or creature, is realizing how much they don't know about magic.

During the summer of 1975, government officials all across the world discovered the existence of supernaturals. Not wanting to alarm the public, they kept what they knew a secret, in the hopes that the world would stay as it was.
Humans in the light.
Monsters in the dark.
During the spring of 1999, a dozen newly made vampires attacked the denizens of a pub in Ireland. The result was a bloodbath. Government officials were able to cover it up to the best of their abilities.
People began to talk. Some of the more outspoken folks vanished. They were written off as runaways, murder victims, accidents.
In 2007, a werewolf went on a rampage in Central Park. Hunters were able to catch and kill him, but not before he bit over a dozen men, women and children. These men, women and children would vanish under mysterious circumstances less than a week later.
There is a town that exists on another plane of existence, built by humans and magic users, cut off from the rest of the world.
They call it Kingdom Come. Kingdom Come is where you go when you’re deemed a monster, or just not important enough in the grand scheme of things. Kingdom Come is a town full of vampires, werewolves, hounds, demons, humans nobody will miss, all of them caught and delivered against their will, trapped by invisible walls. Once you enter Kingdom Come, there is no leaving. This is your home now, for better or for worse.
A delinquent vampire took you in a filthy bathroom at a rave, the music pounding as your young sire panicked after a feeding gone wrong. He gave you some of his Blood, and you collapsed in the ecstatic agony of the Embrace. You come to an hour later and stagger into the night a vampire, with no idea of what’s going on.
How do you connect with the rest of the World of Darkness?
It’s not easy. The Masquerade means that it’s hard for vampires to find each other, especially in big cities. You don’t know the Traditions, and you broke the Prince’s law before you even knew there was a Prince.
When you finally find your way to Elysium, you discover that ignorance is no excuse in the courts of the immortals. Authorities far beyond the ken of mortals can sentence you to death – to the true death, this time.
