Last days of school and
you're in inkyfingered, inksplotted parchment bliss. Who's
going to get the most NEWTS? Who's Head Boy and Girl? Who was caught
in the prefects' bathroom by Mr Pringle and exactly what detention did
they get? There are parties, and Quidditch matches, and many other
things aside. Except 1974 is no ordinary school year. On September the
1st, the train was waylaid on the way to Platform Nine and Three
Quarters. The muggleborn students found that the platform itself was
blocked off; no entry. Those who got to the train discovered the
absence of their friends as soon as the train pulled out of the
station. Thank goodness for little devices, cooked up by the Prewett
twins and distributed at large.

Those claiming responsibility? 'Society for the Protection of Magic'.
They even have leaflets. Hold onto your hats, boys and girls. The only
thing normal about this school year is the inksplotted
parchment.

without you around who can Lily Evans defend and disagree with? And
who's going to defend the might of Gryffindor on the Quidditch pitch
without Gideon and Fabian Prewett?
