It's a good day in Austin. The sun is shining, the vultures are circling. The wind is blowing south, keeping the caustic gas below the Colorado River instead of over downtown. The raiders are busy fighting each other, probably over territory or resources or whose battle cry sounds the manliest. The heat is keeping the dead drowsy and slow. It's also making them reek like all hell, but that's just fine. At least you can smell 'em coming a mile away. It's a perfect day to leave the safe house. Yes, today the wasteland is your oyster. Maybe you'll even make it back alive.
Even if you don't, it's alright. Joining the dead doesn't seem so bad. They've always got plenty of fresh meat, and they seem super eager to welcome newcomers. So enjoy this perfect day while you can. It just might be your last.
REMAINS is a brand new original character RPG based out of a post-apocalyptic Austin, Texas in the year 2018. The world is in ruins after an aggressive virus went pandemic and turned most of the human race into mindless flesh-eating zombies. Some people were immune to the virus; most weren't. In an attempt to eliminate the infected hordes, certain areas of the country were dosed with powerful blister agents that scorched the earth where they were dispensed. The gas didn't stop the zombies, but it did turn Austin into an infertile wasteland. With its population reduced to only a few thousand survivors, every day is a struggle to stay alive. Can you survive the infection, the blister gas, and the violent raiders that roam the streets? And even if you do, can you hold on to the things that you're staying alive for?
