Wizarding Britain is at war...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
1979 is winding toward its own close. Conflicts between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters continue as Dark Lord continues pressing for dominion of the Wizarding world, and the Ministry will not stand for it. With the rise of a new administration five years ago, Britain has seen the situation grow more and more tense as all three sides raise the stakes one after another.

Laws prohibit travel without Ministry approval, and increasingly, democracy seems to be giving way to a police state. Muggleborns and their advocates disappear in the night as terrorists spill innocent blood in the streets. Pureblood manors are burned and ransacked as an organization for peace lashes out to fight fire with fire. Chaos ensues.

The loudest question on everyone's minds and lips is the simplest: who will win?

No one is certain, and no one is certain what will be left for those winners when the smoke clears.

[info]lockdown is a Marauder-Era AU roleplaying game, taking the world of Harry Potter and exploring the theme of an extended civil war and its effect on the populace. The themes of freedom, safety, peace and conflict, the opposing forces of light and dark, and the idea of what measures are called for in times of war will all be questioned, examined, and turned on their head. In the end, the work of the characters involved and the ends to which they are willing to go, are the only things that will decide Britain's ultimate fate.

Quantum Suicide RPG [29 Aug 2011|01:41pm]

QUANTUM SUICIDE
a p a n f a n d o m t o w n o f c h a n g e .

Somewhere out there, on a path you never take, lies a small, nondescript town. There's nothing remarkable about the town that anyone can remember. No one important ever had anything to do with the town, but then again...no one important ever avoided the town. In fact, you can't even remember hearing the name of the town before. It's not a particularly memorable name, and even when you do hear it, the name slips away as quickly as it comes.

Recently, people have begun to vanish in its vicinity. Then again, maybe they always have, and you've never paid attention to it before. Maybe you still haven't paid attention to it. Certainly, very few have ever gone looking for anyone missing. At a glance, there is absolutely nothing nefarious about the town at all.

You know your reason for coming to the town, for passing through it on the way to somewhere, or for investigating what little you have heard of it. There's nothing sinister within its boundaries. The townsfolk are distant, but friendly. They're just the same as any small town might be.

You can leave any time you want to.

You won't be.

It's 2050, by now the wizarding world has gone through mass changes since the Second War ended. Deaths, births, the rise of a new generation, changes for a better world. The only thing that the wizarding world struggled with was a small uprising started by the children of former Death Eaters. Thankfully, it only took one year to quash it, and luckily only a small number of causalities came from it. In the end the nine members of the uprising were caught, and sentenced for their crimes against the wizarding world. Since then everything started to progress again and over time the wizarding world became slightly more dependent on the muggle world, and with that came change and adaptation. One of these changed came when former Minister Shaklebolt decided that the key to a peaceful future was knowledge. With knowledge came acceptance and progress to maintain a better world. In 2030 Eolas University came the first Wizarding University. Modeled after muggle universities across Britain and Ireland the goal was to educate young witches and wizards preparing them for their career of choices. Everything from Geffory Buttermere College of Medicine, the MacTavish College of Law Enforcement, Goodfellow College of Magical Law, to degrees offered in Magical Zoology, Muggle Studies, a wide array of degrees available for every kind of field in the wizarding world.

It is up to this new generation to decide what to do with the knowledge, if they'll use it to follow their dreams, to help wizarding kind, or for their own personal benefit. Their grandparents made a mark on the world, now it's their turn.

WISH YOU WERE HERE!

Right now, [info]roadmaps is in Egypt, where the International Alchemy Conference is being hosted. Here, Nicolas Flamel will be demonstrating how the philosopher's stone works and other discoveries it may lead to, including resurrecting the dead. After that, characters will be traversing across other parts of Africa including Burkina Faso, Kenya, Congo (Zaire), Mauritius, Tunisia, and much more. The Death Eaters are out to see how to revive Voldemort using the recently acquired diadem. The Order is out to stop them.

A game like this can look super intimidating, but [info]roadmaps makes it easy to get involved. There's a game summary detailing all the important things you need to know. You're given full freedom to develop your character even if they've been played before in game. And best of all, your character can jump in coming from England.

We'd love: Severus Snape, Rodolphus Lestrange, Gideon Prewett, Barty Crouch Jr., Dolores Umbridge, Hestia Jones, Lucius Malfoy, Amycus Carrow, Evan Rosier, Travers, Caradoc Dearborn, Fenrir Greyback, Elphias Doge, Augustus Rookwood, Mundungus Fletcher, Xeno Lovegood, Mafalda Hopkirk, Peter Pettigrew, Nott, Sturgis Podmore, Rufus Scrimgeour, Walden Macnair, John Dawlish, Horace Slughorn, Arthur & Molly Weasley (CHARLIE NEEDS PARENTS!), Avery Sr & Avery Jr., Dean Thomas' Mom (muggle!). (More details here).
