Alter Locus: A Greek Mythology game [30 May 2011|04:30am] Chicago. The city of second chances. Long ago, mortals revered gods. Different pantheons and deities existed in every corner of the world, worshipped by the mortals within their domain. For hundreds of years each culture had their own mythology, their own beliefs, and their own figures to devote their lives to. That was until Christianity came. The worship of one single god spread throughout the world and while many cultures did not adopt this new faith, many did, whether by choice or force. The world of the Greek gods shattered and their powers faded as the faith in them slowly became a faith in God. Now they struggle to find those that believe to fuel their divine powers, as without them they are not so high above mere mortals. There are still those who pray to the Greek gods and there are those who claim to have seen them. There are also those who believe, but instead of worshipping these fallen figures, they wish to take advantage of their weakness and gain the powers of the gods for themselves. Belief in these gods it at its highest since their fall, whispering to the gods of another change. But will the gods overcome the obstacles and take their second chance to regain power? Scholars, children and Ministry officials are being picked off at random leaving fear in the wake of destruction and death as Lord Voldemort ascends to power. The Ministry is hard pressed to end the struggle as Death-Eaters watch their every internal move so closely that resistance is nearly futile. The world is dividing, and there is little way of escaping it as loyalties shift beneath the feet of the innocent. But life goes on amidst the atrocities; people fall in love, get married and try to adapt to a world of war. In the shadows there are some who would fight back. Located in the culturally rich city of New Orleans, it has had its fair share of tragedy for such a praised and respected school. First was hurricane Katrina, which rocked New Orleans to its core, and the death of the headmaster as he helped the students evacuate. This past school year has proved itself to be dramatic, interesting, and terrifying. Like any high school, CCI has had its fair share of petty drama caused by students along with the ups and downs of boarding school life. But there are other, darker, things to worry about. Students have gone missing and creatures never known before have been spotted and attacked students. There are activists out in the streets of New Orleans trying to alert Muggles to the presence of evil Witches and Wizards. There is also a strange epidemic of missing socks. [30 May 2011|04:12pm] It's the new school year at Piffled and the students have a lot more to worry about than just a bunch of mandatory art electives. A student-run campaign, strengthened by the support of prefects, has changed the Hogwarts curriculum forever. Now a mandatory sexual education course is in place for all students 16 and older. Sex was previously a banned subject at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry under the assumption that "parents took care of that sort of thing" and the students were "too young to be having it anyway". That's old school now. This school year will go down in Hogwarts history as the year that the school expanded itself as being not only a magical institution with the artistic backbone established by the Ministry since 1998, but also as a place that truly prepares young adults for adulthood in the best way they know how. If you thought having The Talk with your mum was awkward, try having it with the Headmaster. *** Piffled has been open since June 2010 and is still running. Focusing on students from 5th to 7th year and recent Hogwarts graduates, it is about to enter the the 2023-2024 school year. An event oriented game, students are encouraged to participate in as many clubs, school activities, and events as possible. As a reminder, all students are required to take one fine art elective "club" to keep up with Ministry requirements as well as the mandatory weekly sexual education course.
