...Angels and Demons can’t cross over onto our plane. So, instead we get what I call half-breeds. The influence peddlers. They can only whisper in our ears. But a single word can give you courage, or turn your favorite pleasure into your worst nightmare. Those with the demon’s touch like those part angel, living alongside us. They call it the balance. I call it hypocritical bullshit....

The Premise

There’s a world beneath the London you know, a world that smells of brimstone and blood, where magic lives alongside the mundane. It’s a world where you can buy abilities at a travelling Market, where when the circus rolls into town it brings nightmares with it, and is presided over by an organisation so old, time has forgotten when the Library began. It’s a world where anything goes, where London is just another board for the game and gamble for souls is taking place and you might - just might - encounter one of Heaven’s own or a demon amid the crowds on the underground and they play to win.

Influenced by Hellblazer, Neil Gaiman and urban fantasy, At the Gates is an original supernatural game with noir themes, focusing on the lives of those jostling along in the magic world in shadowy other-London. Magic is harsh, horror is common, character realism is encouraged

Wanted

We need: those who are trying to understand and adapt to abilities -- the firestarter with the potential to make everything a bit smoky, the telekinetic fighting for control, the weather-manipulator with a few false starts to become residents at Haven, the in-game sanctuary for the struggling. We need Librarians, those well-controlled individuals who know exactly where the balance ought be between Heaven and Hell and who are unafraid to face off the denizens of both in order to fight for it. We need the self-interested, those souls striking out and fearless of repercussions. We need the rest of the Market family, the magical mafia themselves with fingers in all magical operations across the city!

X-Project: An X-Men Movieverse RP on Livejournal [17 Apr 2011|03:09pm]

X-PROJECT: AN X-MEN MOVIEVERSE RPG

X-Project is an X-Men movieverse RPG on Livejournal. Set after X2, the game has been running since May 5, 2003 and uses a combination of in-character journals and email/IM logs. The game would prefer applicants to consider available NPCs and socks, but applications for new/previously unplayed characters will be considered, especially if they're students under 17. To help give you an idea of each character's history, a series of "cards" for each available character/NPC is available and, from there, applicants can easily reach the character's wiki page.

Readers are highly encouraged! If you're looking for X-Men based entertainment, X-Project welcomes you to read along and enjoy the ride!

In the beginning, there was only the Creator. And She created the world; its lands and seas, peoples and beasts. She created the Keeper, to rule over the dead. She gave the world to her people, whom She loved dearly, to do with what they would. The people multiplied, forming their cultures and societies, and were faithful to the Creator. And when there were many, the Creator made the Watchers: lesser deities to watch her people and report. You see, there are simply too many people for the Creator to keep track of, too many prayers to answer. The Watchers watch, and tell Her what her creations need.

But they speak in His ear, too.

She gave the Watchers free will, and perhaps that was Her greatest mistake. Not every Watcher is good. Not every prayer is answered by the Creator. The Keeper speaks to the Watchers, too, and He does not want for good in the realm of the living. He wants only to rule all, with the death of all things.

You, the player, are a Watcher, and the choice is up to you. Will you do good or evil? Which prayers will you answer? Which side are you on?

Watchers, Please is an original high-fantasy game in a medieval setting where the players themselves are the gods. You are a Watcher. Characters pray, and players submit requests. Every week, players will vote on which prayers and requests will be answered – and by whom, and how. How do you want to rule? Only one thing is certain: characters should be careful with what they wish for. We are a brand new game, set to open on April 24th. Don't miss your chance to be there from the start!
