THE TIME AGENCY

In the 51st century, Humanity mastered Time Travel. For centuries they had been interacting with other sentient alien species, in both positive and negative manners, trading or taking what technology they could and retrofitting it as needed. But time travel... Well, that was the epitome of it, isn't it? The power to do what you wanted, when you wanted. As close to godhood as humans could ever expect to come.

The dangers were clear, however. For thousands of years people had been thinking on what could possibly go wrong if that sort of technology fell into the wrong hands, or was used indiscriminately (one of the many reasons as to why it took so long for humans to even get it). So an institution was put in place, to train and guide the young men and women who would be given this great responsibility, to teach them ethics and morals, and more importantly, to tell them what to do.

The Time Agency is that organization. Beyond the law (of any planet, in any era), it decides what constitutes a high-risk activity, or when something had gone wrong in the past and needed to be fixed. Time Agents are feared and hated through-out the galaxy, in many different centuries, although their reputation can be as helpful as it is hindering. This is what they do.

Time Agency is a rpg community based upon the organization of the same name within the Doctor Who / Torchwood universe. There are few canon characters, and the plot is character-driven. See the FAQ for more information.

also there is probably a lot of space-sex, let's face it.

Riverview Psychiatric Center
[info]riverview_mod

----------------------------------------------------------
The Riverview Psychiatric Center, in collaboration
with the community, is a center for best practice,
treatment, education and research, for individuals with
serious, persistent mental illness, and co-occurring
substance use disorders.

Riverview Psychiatric Center is located in Augusta,
Maine. It is a hospital for patients over the age
of eighteen. It is a permanent home to some patients.
For other patients, it is their own prison. The Center
is capable of treating many different types of disorders.
From anorexia nervosa to schizophrenia. Each patient
is assigned their own doctor who specializes in the
right kind of treatment and therapy needed. Few of
the doctors lack the patience needed to help the patients
at Riverview, but they do their best.

While the surrounding communities view the Center as helpful,
the patients know what really happens there. The main building
is new, rebuilt in the 1980s, the other buildings are older,
with plenty of forgotten tunnels and a basement that was
once used for storage. The patients who are able to wander,
have traveled to these forgotten parts and some take full
advantage of the privacy found there. Though the doctors
can't be bothered, most of the nurses and security know about
the secrets hiding beneath the buildings.

There are some staff members of Riverview, who cater to the
needs of the patients, in exchange for favors.
Money. Sex. Drugs.
The Center isn't as clean cut as it appears.

Welcome to Asheville, North Carolina!

Asheville has been proclaimed to be a "New Age Mecca" as well as "the new freak capital of the US". Most people overlook these statements made by the media, because most of Asheville's residents live there because it was named one of the top seven places to live in the US, it's location in the mountains and surrounding areas is ideal, and life moves at a slower pace in the South.

Little do people know that the first two statements are true, and Asheville has been rumored to sport some serious supernatural activity.

For many years supernatural creatures of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds have been migrating to this city in the Blue Ridge Mountains. None of them can quite put their finger on why they are drawn there, but there is a pull that they just can't ignore. Perhaps it has something to do with the convergence of all these different supernaturals, or maybe something darker is brewing underneath the city of Asheville.

Adds are every Wednesday and Sunday!

At The Gates [12 Feb 2011|07:32pm]

You think you know London, its streets and alleys like the creases of your palm. You don't know all its secrets. In its depths are places to buy amulets and tarot readings, a talisman that permits the wearer to manipulate luck hangs alongside bottles of herbs and demon's blood. Books so ancient the pages are tissue-thin jostle against postcards of buses and telephone boxes. There are bars where the clientele don't just find the dim light flattering, but downright necessary, and the smell of brimstone lingers in the nostrils. There are corners and recesses where magic isn't trickery or sleight of hand, but blood and bone and flesh and you might -- you might -- catch sight of feathers pure as snow and light, if you know where to go. If you know how to see. There's a pitched battle being fought for this other London and your London besides -- one in which every human in existence is being counted in a gamble for souls, Heaven and Hell trying to tip the scales and grave-faced Librarians holding them steady. And all the time, people go about their lives with a little pinch of something extra in a London you'll never see.

❝Cʀᴇᴀᴛɪɴɢ ᴜɴɪᴛʏ ʙᴇᴛᴡᴇᴇɴ ᴘᴏᴡᴇʀᴇᴅs sɪɴᴄᴇ 2005!❞ This is the slogan for the Darwin Project, a highly controversial program creatured by United States Senator Edwin Pierce. Proposed as a way for the 'powered community' (as people with special abilities have come to be known) to unify more successfully than ever before, Project Darwin promised to be the crowning jewel of legislation for Senator Pierce. Pierce gloated about his program to the government and public alike, calling it "unrivaled legislature". Those in the powered community who wished to volunteer would simply have to relocate to Darwin. In doing so, they would receive jobs, housing, income, and free health care.

One small stipulation: each participate is required to enter into a marriage (designed by the program runners) and procreate quickly.

As more and more powereds have entered the program, they have realised that it's not as simple as it seems. The government dictate every part of their daily lives. None of the real details of the program have been disclosed to the general public, nor were they told to the participants who agree to join. But once you're in, you're in a hell of a fight to get out. And for many, this is going to prove to be a fight for their lives.

The program officials and Senator Pierce see nothing wrong, of course. After all, they're just following in Charles Darwin's footsteps for evolution. They're only giving it a little push.
