The Wizarding World is more peaceful than it ever has been since before Lord Voldemort's first rise to power. It has had twenty-five years to heal and rebuild. Instead of preparing for a war that has been looming over their heads for years or hunting for pieces of a damaged soul, the students of Hogwarts have the chance to do what many of their parents missed out on -- being normal.
They're loving and hating every minute of their adolescence like a proper bonds that will last a lifetime. They're busy doing important things like studying for N.E.W.T.s, having parties, playing Quidditch, visiting Hogmeade, using Nosebleed Nougats to get out of class, attending school events, participating in clubs, smuggling in Wild-Fire Whiz-Bangs, and sneaking around the castle in the dead of night.
The year is 2023, Albus Potter's seventh and final year, and things are finally normal... well, as normal as they can be at Hogwarts. Because really, how normal are the enchanted Chocolate Frogs that end up in the girl's dormitory in the middle of the night or the missing bones in Rose's hand from a dueling gone wrong?

Hogwarts, meet the Ministry.
With the latest orders from the Ministry, the structure of the Prefect system at Hogwarts was the first change: Prefects have been paired by year and house, forming a team which cannot assign detentions or take house points without consulting one another. It was from this new policy that the Inquisitorial Squad was reborn: a student-run club designed to train interested students in Ministry issues and conflict resolution. At Hogwarts, things are orderly, organized, and above all, fair - or are they?
Prefects are finding new ways to abuse their powers and control others. Students retaliate in their own ways, bringing personal issues before the Inquisitorial Squad, treating it more like a Hogwarts' version of the Wizengamot than a wizarding Model UN club. A secret society runs amok in the student underground, their activities and intentions mysterious and seemingly neutral -- for now.
In a socially revolutionary game, the members of Absit Invidia invite you to join the new generation of wizards and witches as they return to Hogwarts, the war of their parents forgotten. Their new challenge? The battles of everyday life as a young magician; struggling to make friendships, remember charms and pass classes in the face of adjusted policies and countless possibilities. |

metempsychosis - a modern day mythological rpg |
[26 Jan 2011|03:32pm] |
 | me·tem·psy·cho·sis noun \mə-ˌtem(p)-si-ˈkō-səs, ˌme-təm-ˌsī-\ Definition of METEMPSYCHOSIS : the passing of the soul at death into another body |
Think of any long-gone deity from mythology. Now imagine that they aren't truly gone but instead that their essence lives on...is reincarnated inside of that guy who sits next to you on the bus every day. Or Maureen from Accounting. Or maybe even inside of you.
The old deities once existed, once walked the Earth, and mortals trembled at their names. Long ago, they each slowly faded out, their existence only remembered as fables and tales. During this decline, one deity gathered up and called upon his or her last reserves of power and influence to create a reprieve, of sorts, for them all. They would find their essence--their souls if you will--not dissipated amongst the matter of the Universe but instead reborn inside a mortal body. The gods would be mortal, yes, their power would be greatly diminished, yes, and they might not even remember what they once were, but they would at least exist. |

Riverview Psychiatric Center
riverview_mod
---------------------------------------------------------- Six more apps until we open!
The Riverview Psychiatric Center, in collaboration with the community, is a center for best practice, treatment, education and research, for individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Riverview Psychiatric Center is located in Augusta, Maine. It is a hospital for patients over the age of eighteen. It is a permanent home to some patients. For other patients, it is their own prison. The Center is capable of treating many different types of disorders. From anorexia nervosa to schizophrenia. Each patient is assigned their own doctor who specializes in the right kind of treatment and therapy needed. Few of the doctors lack the patience needed to help the patients at Riverview, but they do their best.
While the surrounding communities view the Center as helpful, the patients know what really happens there. The main building is new, rebuilt in the 1980s, the other buildings are older, with plenty of forgotten tunnels and a basement that was once used for storage. The patients who are able to wander, have traveled to these forgotten parts and some take full advantage of the privacy found there. Though the doctors can't be bothered, most of the nurses and security know about the secrets hiding beneath the buildings.
There are some staff members of Riverview, who cater to the needs of the patients, in exchange for favors. Money. Sex. Drugs. The Center isn't as clean cut as it appears. ----------------------------------------------------------

Swept Away a soul takers and Ghost Ship rp. |
[26 Jan 2011|05:07pm] |
SWEPT AWAY // a Ghost Ship movie based role play.
We're a small forum game based on the 2002 film Ghost Ship. It's more an original take with canon characters AND original characters. New York City and how people are either human, or soul collectors. There really isn't any werewolves or vampires or anything, but it's a neat modern game that could turn into something really cool!

The tables have been turned in Britain. The Ministry of Magic, the Daily Prophet, and Hogwarts School are all infiltrated by Death Eaters. Someone has to take a stand for what's right in the name of wizardingkind, someone has to be caught between the extremes, and someone has to do right for themselves in the face of chaos. Who will pick up their wand to take on a fight, to save others without a wand, to defend themselves when pressed? When jinx comes to hex, who will take a stand?
The moderators are seeking players eager to write collaboratively with one another, who want a highly active yet short-term Deathly Hallows game where they can richly bring a character or two fully to life during some of their most defining moments. Forgotten Gods |
[26 Jan 2011|06:20pm] |
 |
"Immortals are what you wanted," said Thor in a low, quiet voice. "Immortals are what you got. It is a little hard on us. You wanted us to be for ever, so we are for ever. Then you forget about us. But we are still for ever. Now at last, many are dead, many are dying," he then added in a quiet voice, "but it takes a special effort."
-- Douglas Adams |

Forgotten Gods follows the deities of ancient mythologies, brought to America long ago by explorers or immigrants from their homelands and eventually abandoned or lost from memory. As their worshippers have moved on to new religions, the gods' powers have waned -- for a god, at its most pure essence, is no more than an idea, and an idea is worthless if there is nobody to believe in it. Some have passed, forgotten, from the world, while others have fallen into madness. Some have simply tried to adapt, to make a life for themselves in this place without gods, getting by on what little scraps of worship and belief they can garner. Others are more radical, intent on regaining the power that was once theirs and reviving their followings.
And then there are the New Gods. Gods of cars and computers, television and radio, cities and highways, all those things that modern Americans put their faith in. They are young, at the height of their power. These newcomers are regarded dismissively by some of the old ones, who have seen so many new deities rise and fall in their time; jealously by others, who wish to reclaim the power for their own; and by all with a deep, abiding wariness.
Inspired by the world of Neil Gaiman's American Gods, this game invites players to step into the roles of deities, old and new, to create their own modern mythology. |

Time and space are ultimate dividing forces that separate generations of witches and wizards, but soon that divide will be breached. There have been cracks before, but one wizard will wrench it open completely. Named the Collector, he sits in his own empty world that he controls and manipulates as he desires. However, there is an issue. It is empty, yet this will not last. No, the Collector shall soon start gathering his toys to fill the gaps. Through various points in human history, he is taking who he wishes. His motivations may be unclear, but somehow each of his toys will serve a purpose for his plans.
Once each of these ‘toys’ are collected, they will be confronted by the realities of their situation. Information of their future lives will greet a large majority of his subjects, and then, they must cope. They cannot leave and, will instead, have to adapt. However, adapting is not simple for their situation will not remain constant. The Collector will not just leave his toys alone, but will play with them as he desires.
Life in the Collector's Domain will keep transforming. One moment the place will appear like a desert, then a coastal town, and then, a tropical rainforest. However, all the while, the people cannot leave until He demands it. They will experience various trials and tribulations, some that seem almost playful (from the outsider), and others, much more sinister.
So, what will you do when the Collector calls on you? As one of his toys, how will you survive? How will you react when you have no information about your situation, except for a small note in a journal that falls from the sky and what you can learn from those who are suffering through the same thing?
Welcome to the Collectors!
