PREMISE x RULES x AVAILABLE x FAQ x APPLICATION CONTACTS x FRIEND ALL What if, instead of turning away eighteen year old Tom Riddle, Headmaster Dippet allowed the boy to assist his favourite professor with his classes? What if that landmark decision started a chain of events that would lead to Riddle becoming Headmaster himself eleven years later, thus changing the face of the Wizarding world as we know it? While the political environment outside the school would remain relatively the same, the one inside would never be the same. Muggleborns now forced to prove their magical abilities even before they step foot past the doors of the castle and never allowed positions of authority and influence, they are the dregs of the school, punished and ridiculed for what they cannot help. Purebloods have the run of the place and allowed to do whatever they want. The teachers are afraid to cross their Headmaster, and the school governors, one of which is Albus Dumbledore, have little power when it comes to Riddle's demands. Not all are willing to let him have his way with the school and its students though. The Ministry is split in its support and the Wizengamot's hands are tied. Meanwhile Riddle has been gathering support from Purebloods and former students to form an army of staff for the school and legislators within the Ministry to push his ideals. But there is one who opposes him, one who has been building his own army of staff and Ministry people: Albus Dumbledore. The year is 1977, and the war is just beginning. Which side are you on? The Blood Era: A Dark AU Harry Potter RP [15 Dec 2009|01:23pm] ♦ Blood Is Everything ♦ On October 31, 1981, an event happened that changed wizarding history – Tom Riddle, also known as Lord Voldemort, went to Godric's Hollow, and defeated Lily and James Potter. It was the turning point in the war, and six months later, the Death Eaters gained control of the Ministry of Magic and the Order was crushed. Muggleborns had severe restrictions put on them, including restricting jobs, education and who they could marry. Restrictions were also placed on muggle items, travel and communication with the muggle world. Purebloods flourished in the new political climate, and under the direction of Narcissa Malfoy, great social changes began to take shape. Called the "Great Wizarding Renaissance," there was a call to return to pureblood values and manners in order to further separate themselves from the immoral and inferior muggle world. Traditional courtship was brought back, and matches were made not of love, but to strengthen bloodlines. The year is 2001, and a new announcement by the Ministry of Magic will once again strengthen the divide, all but cutting off the magical world.
