Welcome to Xavier's. |
Charles Xavier established the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in 1985, a high-school level institute for children with special talents. Previously, his work with the "Mutant X Gene" was considered preposterous by most of the scientific community, and many expressed that "finding logic in the 'gifts' of psychics and fortune tellers was a waste of taxpayer money". The idea that any number of "supernatural" abilities could be explained by a common genetic abnormality was unheard of, and Xavier was practically laughed out of the scientific community. When the school was developed, no one was quite sure under what criteria he selected his attendees, the student body count of the first year being only fifty-six. Over the next five years that number more than doubled, and has remained at around 250 students every year since.
In the past ten years, the idea of "mutants", became more widespread, though no official statements were ever made. Most of the population in the United states still strongly considered the idea to be ridiculous openly. Still, speculation and paranoia grew, and the word "mutant" became more commonplace.
Over the past couple years it seems that Xavier has been "recruiting" students more actively than ever.

The game focuses primarily on character interaction and personal plot, but will also delve into the complications of mutant tolerance in a world that may not be ready.

A Next-Gen, HP Game
The magical world has been unveiled and tensions are high. As the Minster shouts of peace and understanding, whispers of war flood the air. Hate crimes are climbing on both sides and the Muggle governments are being watched with suspicion and paranoia. The students of Hogwarts return to the safe haven of the castle with their society hanging in the balance and some very serious decisions before them.
Wait and hope for the best? Live as though the world is as it should be? Or prepare to defend their right to live?
The Dark Arts are brought out of retirement not out of a hunger for power or cruelty but as a desperate grasp toward anything that might equal the might of well trained men with guns. Others, under the direction of the Headmaster, are determined to rid the Dark Arts from Hogwarts once again and do everything in their power to see a peaceful resolution to the volatile situation. Houses are divided as they haven't been since Voldemort's reign and the halls of Hogwarts are gradually becoming anything but a haven. Through it all their lives rush onward with classes, love affairs, bruised friendships and unlikely alliances. The hopeful pray that the storm will pass but the realists are right when they whisper, "Things are only going to get worse."

There was no warning and no trigger. No cosmic event to suddenly set their genes into action. They developed over time, from gifted infants to troubled youths to trouble-making young adults. They couldn't fit in so the they fit the world to their needs.
They changed everything.
It's been thirty-five years since the first cases were documented, but it's become apparent that the change has been going on for longer. Evolution doesn't wait to be taken on record.
The year is 2009. The United States hasn't been a unified country for a full decade now. Those in power have become those with power and they have redrawn the borders to reflect supremacy and megalomania. Fiefdoms and warlords battle over the available land. Those with abilities are split between followers, criminals and unwilling participants in the skirmishes that separate areas of influence. Those without have little choice - either attempt to take refuge in Seattle, the last bastion of 'normal' resistance, or make a deal with the devil and sell out to buy out some semblance of existence in the 'freak' territories.
Warlords is an original-character only game for characters with abilities or the lack thereof.
