ar·chon [ahr-kon] --noun 1. a high magistrate in ancient Athens. 2. any ruler. 3. in Gnosticism, servants of the Demiurge, the creator god, that serve as the gateway between humanity and a transcendent god.

[info]archon_rpg is an original mystery / horror rpg with sci-fi elements set in the present day and time open to all original characters. Characters are invited, via a method dependent on their social class, to stay at Archon's Rest, a luxury resort and spa. Upon arrival, they find it to be everything that they could ever want, but is it really the paradise it claims to be? Where has the front door gone, and why can't anyone find a way out to explore the grounds? What's with the sudden spike in residents' nightmares? Did this scar exist yesterday? Why is the staff so eager to please, and when, exactly, do they expect you to check out? Will you have a restful vacation or the adventure of your life?

We are a small, intimate game that opened Friday, March 13. All original characters are welcome. If you are searching for an active, engaging game with major character development possibilities run by RP veterans, this is the game for you.

Wanted Characters: We are currently in need of men, persons from upper class / wealthy backgrounds, and working class people looking for a break in order to increase diversity. Also, we currently have roles that need to be filled and more on the way. All characters, however, are always welcome.

Sic Infit - Harry Potter AU RPG [30 Mar 2009|10:51am]

It is amazing how the most important decisions can be made on the whims of men. And how often these decisions, though they may feel right at the time, or might even be the right decision to make, can lead a person, or an entire world, down the wrong path.

Thus it was that James had no idea that by choosing Sirius as his secret keeper, he would inadvertently spare Voldemort his defeat and plunge the world into his dark rule.

It is now the summer of 1998, and the wizarding world has become a dark place. Through loyal followers and charmed men, Voldemort has become the shadow king of England, ruling through an unending chain of puppet ministers. Families are shattered as halfbloods and muggleborn are relentlessly persecuted.

Some still fight valiantly, but secretly, against the Death Eaters. Others live luxuriously off the spoils of a corrupt system. Some warriors of the light have fallen to the darkness, but some agents of darkness have risen to the light. And even more walk the razor's edge between.

Sic Infit is a Harry Potter AU game. Set in 1998, it explores the possibilities of what could have happened had James and Lily Potter stuck with Sirius as their Secret Keeper. What could have happened if Harry had never become The Boy Who Lived? What if Lord Voldemort had actually won?

WTF?! RP - Not your typical Harry Potter Roleplay
Setting. Rules. Holds. Application.

Game Start Date: April 1, 2009!

WTF?! is a 'Harry Potter' afterlife-based roleplaying game set on its own island, called Sointula. It takes some of the clichés found so often in the fandom and in 'Potter' RPs and revels in them.

Four gods have set this island up so that they can observe peoples' daily lives. Think of it like a game of 'Sims' for the dead. The gods pick and choose who they want on their island for their own reasons and may or may not help people. They do whatever they want, because they can.

Note, though, that there's a lot of weirdness in this game. It's not your typical 'put everybody from the canon together in one place' type of setting. Modern Muggle technology is everywhere, and everyone who shows up on the island will know how to use that modern tech.

The game is quirky but not silly. There will be comedic storylines, and there will be dramatic storylines. It's all up to the players.

This game is looking for creative people who are willing to work within some set parameters and explore the possibilities of the fandom's clichés. Some aspects of your character's life on the island will be set by the gods when that character is accepted. If you're not comfortable with playing things that aren't determined by you, don't bother applying. It's not a crack game, despite it's name and setting, but it's also not 'high drama, all the time.' It needs players who have enough time to give to the game to develop their characters and storylines, not those who apply to every new game that starts up and never put in any quality time on any game because their creativity is spread too thin.

Characters that aren't active, or who only interact with one or two other characters, will be removed. That doesn't mean your character has to thread with every single person in the game, but you have to at least make an effort to have them talk to and interact with characters outside of those they were involved with in the novels. If you enjoy taking the canon characters outside of their comfort zones, exploring new possibilities, and you enjoy quality RP in an unusual setting, this game could be for you.

If you're looking for the same old tired stuff, go elsewhere.

Every character from the 'HP' canon is open for play, wizard, Muggle, or whatever, but be sure to read the Rules, Setting, Posting Guidelines, and Taken Characters & PB Lists, before applying.

I'm a harsh guy when it comes to my rules. If you give me crap, I'll give it back to you. I don't care who you are, or how your popular you are in the fandom, or how many games you're in, or how many times you've played 'X' character in games, or how long you've been RPing, or if you write fanfic that makes people squeal. I don't care.

Once you've read the threads, and you're still interested in applying, here's the Application.

It's 2001. Three years after Harry Potter defeated Voldemort. The war is over. Everyone is moving on, or at least trying to. The dead have been mourned and buried, but are all but forgotten. Lives, businesses and relationships must go on. Time won't stand still, even in Diagon Alley. The Wizarding World is almost completely rebuilt on top of the ashes of a time that cannot be forgotten, but everyone is still walking on eggshells. The fear of collapse is still looming on the horizon, even if no one will admit it.

Welcome to the Post Bellum period.

Game Starts: TODAY!

PROLOGUE

You wake up one morning with a headache, you wonder if you're hung-over but you didn't drink anything last night so that can't be it and after taking a painkiller and heading to work you forget all about it. A few days later you think you back to your childhood and there's a memory that doesn't fit, it doesn't make sense and you try not to think about it because it sets you and edge and makes you feel uncomfortable.

It doesn't stop.

Maybe weeks go by, or maybe it's months, and someone turns up on your doorstep. Maybe they look official, or they're wearing jeans and a T-Shirt, but they introduce themselves and tell you that they're from something called 'The Agency', they sit you down and if you're lucky they'll make you a cup of tea or pour you a drink before explaining it all to you.

The memories are real, but they're someone else's, someone you always thought of as fictional. You're what they call a reincarnate, someone who's been reincarnated from this fictional person, brought into this world with magic that no one yet understands.

They talk about a war that's being fought between two sides of reincarnates, the good and the bad. You're not told what side to pick or that you need to, but you know that a day will come when you and the person you were and are possibly becoming will need to choose.

frequently asked questions for the concerned american citizen

PREMISE

You wake up to the smell of smoke.

In the year 2008, a virus swept North America. Ever vigilant for a pandemic, citizens boarded up their windows, stockpiled their canned goods, and turned their neighbors in to the CDC. Short wave radios fell off the shelves, evacuation routes were prepared. Gas masks and specialty filtration systems were distributed. Pills were available for those showing early symptoms. Pills that did not work. That were later replaced with cyanide as their active ingredient. For those who were brave enough to put their fingers near a loved one's mouth. The United States, Canada, Mexico, the virus swept down into South America and festered in the heat of the jungle. In some places it burned out. Superstition ruled and saved lives. But nothing stopped the virus.

You wake up to the crackle of dead airwaves.

Three months after the first diagnosed case of Currere Excessum was recorded, NATO approved Great Britain's use of nuclear force against the United States. It was assumed that all organic material would be reduced to ash under the impact. It was assumed that the Quarantine of the Americas would be temporary, at best. Any who survived the blast would be given the highest in humanitarian attention and medical care. The only American emissaries who knew of the plan lay incinerated in Washington. The Quarantine continued. The Americas lay abandoned. Empty.
