Now, nearly four years later, not much has changed within the extended family unit that had materialized in the Pittsburgh area over the past many years. Liberty Avenue is still a bustling, blooming gayborhood within the metropolis, Debbie Novotny is still playing Mother Hen from her nest in the diner, her son is still happily "married" to a intelligent Carnegie prof, and their adopted son is taking on the world, one college course at a time. And the antihero of all antiheroes? He's still around, tragically as successful and good-looking as ever, working to hold all the frays of the past few years together, if quietly. Elsewhere, two successful women are raising a family outside of the country, and the most infamous member of the past-Pittsburgh Twink Brigade is seemingly constantly en route within the 350 miles between Pittsburgh and NYC. If only he could decide where to replant his roots permanently. Meanwhile, outside of the steel capital of the world, America is undergoing major renovation. With a new presidential administration comes hope for the ever-proud LGBT community, but the recent passing of Proposition 8 in California might prove to be disastrous for the progressive movement, even on the opposite coast. Political tensions are high, lives are continuing even in the midst of the nostalgia for the beginning of the new millennium, and this family is still struggling to include all of each other within their busy schedules. In the familial atmosphere of the Life Cafe in the East Village, an anonymous, aspiring playwright has left a large, blank book to be viewed and written in by the cafe's various regulars. Jokingly called The Libretto by the cover, this book is used by the cafe's customers to get things off their chest, to ask for advice, or just to communicate within. And sometimes, the bohemians might just find messages from the hidden Librettist as well... What does your character have to say? needed Maureen, Joanne, and Benny are needed to complete the main ensemble. There should be advanced roleplayers looking to flesh out these characters' backstory as much as humanely possible (or close). Original characters and characters based on actual ensemble staples (the La Vie Boheme ensemble, the carolers, The Man, etc.) are ALWAYS welcomed, as well, as long as they're believable and have their own history to play off of in the game. taken Mimi, Roger, Mark, Collins, and four original characters (a teen addict, a working student, a shelter volunteer of sorts, and a struggling artist) are currently taken. Two more OCs are expected to get applications in presently. notes The game has a sort of "real time" atmosphere (the time in-game is currently January 5, 1997; begins right off of closing curtain). We're hoping to become very active and a good refuge for RENThead writers (complete with several subcomms to have as much communication as possible). Also, when it comes to the main ensemble, we're trying to keep as much of the OBC as possible. This means Maureen's PB would absolutely have to be Idina Menzel, and Benny's should be Taye. Joanne is the exception, as there's not ready screencaps/icons of Fredi Walker; in this case, Tracie Thoms would be very accepted (since we love Tracie, anyway). One might expect paradise or eternal damnation, but something else entirely is in store for the wizards and witches who find themselves on a remote island in the sea. Atlantis is a combination of paradise and damnation, though that makes the afterlife all the sweeter. The residents have their own demons to contend with in time without end, but they are being governed by a higher power that has yet to reveal itself. This higher power has taken it upon itself to set up a fickle environment, throwing a wrench into the workings of Atlantean Afterlife. Will the residents of this lonely island be able to survive eternity with the same dignity that they displayed in their lives? Despite these vast changes, one thing has remained the same. Recently, Hogwarts Castle has appeared on the island. It is surrounded by the same terrain that frequented its' "living" twin. Along with its' appearance, new arrivals have accompanied its' appearance. Atlantean residents are now faced with their School Age versions.
