[25 Oct 2008|10:54am] PREMISE | RULES | CHARACTERS | PROFILES | APPLICATION On 2nd May 1998, Harry Potter defeated Lord Voldemort once and for all. To the citizens of Wizarding Britain, this meant one thing: finally, they were free. Although a few, isolated cells of Death Eaters continued to chase the Dark Lord’s mission, they floundered without the leadership of their Lord and Bellatrix Lestrange, and they all quickly found themselves imprisoned, with the exception of Severus Snape, who barely survived the Dark Lord’s attempt on his life and proved to be Dumbledore’s man, through and through. The war ripped families apart – the Weasleys, so pleased to welcome the repentant Percy back into the fold, were quickly forced to mourn Arthur’s death; and Remus Lupin was left a single father following the death of his wife – and the sudden deaths of many left people shocked and awed, but, under the guidance of new Minister for Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Wizarding Britain was allowed to gather and rebuild. Strides were made in the names of equality, tolerance, civil liberties, and interpersonal harmony, and said efforts have been generally regarded as successful. It is now 2002 and the Wizarding world has been at peace for four years. Life is prosperous, people are happy, families are rebuilding, and under new legislation passed by Minister Shacklebolt, marginalized minorities, such as werewolves, are now treated as equals to non-werewolf witches and wizards, provided they obey the law and show up for their required annual check-ups. Everything was lovely. This is where the Department of Mysteries comes into the picture. As they were wont to do, the employees in the Department of Mysteries were experimenting and something went awry with one of their spells. There was no great flash of light and there were no explosions. By all appearances, nothing at all happened with the experiment that was wrong in anyway, but something did happen and, slowly, it’s becoming much more evident. As the fourth year of peace winds down, the young men of Wizarding Britain are all finding themselves drawn away from the relationships they know well – and to each other instead. Queer Magic is an all male slash Harry Potter game. We are mostly canon-compliant through and including events of Deathly Hallows, but we have discounted select deaths. Madness! A Post-DH Harry Potter RPG. [25 Oct 2008|12:41pm] the plot; For hundreds and hundreds of years, magic has always worked the way people expected it to. Spells did what they were meant to, and things followed the general path that people were used to them following. But now its 2004, six years after the demise of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, and something is going awry. Spells are not working the way they should be any longer. It has started out small at first, to the point where most people don't even notice, they just assume they've cast the spell wrong and continue on their way. But now the changes are becoming much more obvious, and its quickly becoming clear that magic has gone awry. A witch who casts a spell to straighten her hair might find that its turned funny colors instead. A wizard who casts lumos to see in the dark might find himself glowing abnormally for hours at a time. A witch who casts alohomora on a locked door might suddenly find that instead of unlocking a door she's unlocked herself and that now she can speak nothing but the truth. The object a witch or wizard is trying to transform can turn into any number of things, either related or not at all related to the intended transformation. Spells don't always go wrong, but more often than not they do. This is an RPG where things aren't as though they've always seemed. [25 Oct 2008|12:55pm] Characters Rules Application Players Friend All After Remus Lupin became a war hero and died for his cause, some people's opinions of werewolves softened. Still, acceptance of muggleborns was already a lot for some wizards to handle and Fenrir Greyback's side in the war (along with the countless people he killed) turned some nuetral opinions of the affliction to negativity. Werewolves had been, until the war, a very uncommon kind. With Fenrir and his few allies able to run rampant, though not respected as they had hoped, many more victims of Lycanthropy cropped up. Now it is 2005. The war has been over for seven years. Laws are in place to protect muggleborns from hate crimes. Elves have been freed under new legislation pushed through by Hermione Granger as head of the Department for Regulation and Control of magical creatures. Some werewolves, half moons, and their families have been out since they were bitten. Others hide their affliction. There is now a Department formed to handle werewolf infection and a few loud protesters who want their kind exterminated. These are The Bitten. post comment
