This is a basic HTML question. Instead of using this resource site for that, you should use google. You'll get responses faster and learn it for yourself. Where I started was here, you should explore that site.

I was going to give them that link! But that's an awesome resource, for real. I've had it bookmarked for nine years.

I just want to make a quick comment to say while I imagine you have good intentions stating this, I really don't feel it's your place to state what is and is not allowed here. The majority of questions posted here are about how to make basic tables and do things that are for the most part in IJ's FAQs, after all. To me, these things may seem like the easiest thing in the world. However, I realize it may not be the case with others.

I don't think she meant it that way, to be honest. I think she moreso meant that it's not question that would be hard to figure out with a little prodding around [info]rp_tutorials itself. You have lots of resource sites listed already.

In which case, I apologize as I made the comment to address what I thought was a "don't use rp_tutorials for this" comment.

And for the record, I've addressed this with the poster before (here) and can understand other members' frustration as it does seem like something basic like links are featured in every other post. So, it might come off as laziness not to be able to find it.

However, to my knowledge, I don't think how to make a link is directly addressed. There are examples, though. So, someone new to HTML like this poster might find it very hard to look at where a post where you see a link and go "Oh, I see, that bit of coding (or HTML) is responsible for changing text into a link." I think the statement was helpful, but it came as rude to me. And if it wasn't (as I think you're also implying and I can also see now that you've mentioned it)... well, that's on me and again, I apologize.

I'll admit I've found this user a touch lazy by not exploring ~rp_tutorials herself. I didn't mean my original comment as a "don't use RP tutorials for this", but more of a "use RP tutorials as what it's meant for, and use the resources provided". Personally, I think RP tutorials is for specialized tables and HTML, not for beginner beginners. Obviously I didn't create nor do I really input much of anything, that's just how I've seen it.

It probably was a bit ride out of frustration, and I suppose I could have said it a bit nicer. But I do think that's a great site, especially for beginners or anyone a touch confused about HTML. I'll admit I google a ton of HTML even now, and I think I'm pretty handy with it.

So, I apologize for being a bit rude ~karissa_b and ~chaperoned.

I would have replied to this earlier, but I had to work. (Unfortunately where there's no internet access - lame.)

At first I thought it was laziness (especially asking for storyline layouts when one I had posted was just a page earlier). However, as mentioned above, I really do see where she's coming from, and it's actually been helpful for me to see how to make the community more noob-friendly. I actually tried looking through the community for the questions she's asked and finding I actually couldn't find it without knowing where it is already.

Also, I'll admit most of the tutorials end up being about those things because those are what the majority of folks have the most trouble with (and thus the most demand is). (In fact, lately I've started to wonder if people were only here for the layouts.) In most of my posts now, I don't even bother explaining how to create layouts from the ground up because I feel like I've gone that sort of thing so much and everyone's been in the community so long that they know where and what everything is.

But anyway, I really don't want it to feel like total noobies are unwelcomed. However, I also don't want people who already have this knowledge to feel like they have to wad through fairly simple questions all the time. SO, to put it simply: it's nice to see how different users use the community and hopefully as I get this place cleaned up I (and other, even other users) can address both needs (maybe a HTML 101 post or something).

And on a totally unrelated note, I just realized that you're the person who's journal I keep stumbling across and like very much. It's so pretty and clean and simple and YOU PROBABLY KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT PRETTY, CLEAN AND SIMPLE THINGS.

But anyway: Don't even worry about it. For me, it's actually really helpful just to know what people use this place for. And that site? Is actually a really great resource for newer people. So, you're contributing. Against your will. HA.

Also, I know it's easy to be a bit blunt and come off entirely the wrong way (trust me, I do it all the time without being able to edit what I say - and even being able to edit comments), and it's really nothing I hold against you. I just want users to feel like this is a safe space to ask those seemingly obvious questions because we've all been there. And ha, you're not alone. If people say they don't do it, they're totally lying.

Wow this got long. Sorry!

AND SORRY ORIGINAL POSTER FOR PRETTY MUCH SPAMMING YOUR POST BTW.

Yeah, it's nice to know SO MANY people use this site/comm, and in such massive amounts of skill.

Thanks about my layout though <3 I like clean and simple too!

I have like zero filter, even on IJ I click "post comment" before really thinking about it, and not having enough care to delete and repost. Like.. ALL the time.

BUT, I think a HTML 101 Tutorial would be a good addition, since most of what's posted here is like HTML 587 <3
